I always say this. Especially in Elden Ring there are plenty of tools to make the game significantly easier. It's just up to you to use your brain and find them.
In previous Souls games bosses were obviously designed so the average player could beat them with a stick and some i-frames. That mentality doesn't carry over to ER. It's easy to forget but ER is a new IP.

It's a bad solution tho. I also switched everything up Radahn and it bugged me. It's an RPG, it's supposed to be balanced so that any build is viable but anything except Spear/Shield combo just gets unfairly punished. You can't get a colossal weapon build to have fun on it because he attacks so frequently. It's bad design. Every build should allow for the same level of enjoyment

Wait so on his previous play through a week ago the bosses were exposing his jump build and Asmon complaining like a 10 year old saying the bosses were too hard, wasn't even using a great rune and not even trying to understand how to fight bosses. Now fast forward he changes his build to a Shield poke build and says this is the best DLC he's ever played. Quite astonishing lol.

I personally beat the base game with dual guts swords and even through all of the dlc now I’m sitting at Radahn and literally can’t attack without trading let alone touch him second phase because of the extra holy attacks at the end of his combo strings. Reject failure, accept mediocrity, embrace cheese Pro tip: you can infuse the finger shield with other elements to reach 100% block in those elements at the cost of taking minimal physical damage. VERY worth it
Elden Ring was made to be cheesed. A lot of the problems people have with ER is trying to play it like previous games. In older Souls games bosses were balanced assuming players were going to use and a sword and dodge roll. In ER it's pretty clear they assume players are using spells and stuff they find in the environment as a baseline. Playing ER like it's Dark Souls should be considered a challenge run.
@@sd5919 This is exact reason why i kinda disliked my first playthrough, I played it too much like a dark souls. Now I play much more freely, using all the different tools they give you and it is so much more fun.
You should never infuse fingerprint with anything elemental - it's best kept at standard for the guard boost; the literal reason to use this shield. Unless you use it to attack that is.

Not saying it's not possible to go shieldless but the game punishes you unnecessarily hard for not poking the boss from behind a shield the whole fight. I beat it after probably a dozen tries, granted I have like 11 Scadutree Fragments. Couldnt naturally find any more before the final boss so I just fought him with Fingerprint Shield and Blood Pike. Any other playstyle in phase 2 seemed impossible or just too punishing. The shield/spear combo is also boring but so much easier than not doing that that I feel compelled to use it for my sanity. Gael lets you play anyway you want because he has a lot of downtime and large openings. Radahn is just too sweaty to be enjoyable
Godwyn was hit by destined death, you don't take destined death and then resurrect. The best hope for a Godwyn fight would be against some sort of posessed Godwyn zombie abomination, but it would not be Godwyn. The reverse Radahn situation, Radahn has his soul but not his body, well, considering Radahn rejected Miquella and is now his consort, something was lost or altered when Miquella got a hold of his soul.
I think the reason a lot of people would have assumed it would involve godwyn is because no one knew what the land of shadow would be. Miquella was thought to be dead but was a part of the dlc so maybe it would have been some sort of godly afterlife? It also felt like itd make more sense to involve two of the most mysterious children from the base game and that stuff was said in the base game that Miquella looked up to godwyn and loved him. One of the two plans of Miquella was to make the Eclipse happen, resurrecting Godwyn's soul. The Death Knights in the DLC served him. That's why everybody was hoping to see him because not only was there a lot of lore buildup for it but Miquella seemed to have the powers to actually bring the Eclipse now and cure the lands from deathblight. Im sure people said this already but just in case, the reason Godwyn couldnt be the last boss is because of how they wrote the lore. To use the gate of divinity to become a god you must also have the soul of a lord and a vessel for the lord. Ranni intentionally killed Godwyn in such a way that his soul itself would die as part of the process to free herself from her body. And as we see in the game even if they'd used godwyns body as the vessel radahns soul basically overwrites it anyway with only traces of the old form remaining. The best we couldve gotten was maybe a blonde radahn(which we kind of got anyway with miquella on his back looking like a golden mane) who uses death flames instead of bloodflame.

I think Prime Radahn being the last boss of DLC is awesome. He and Malenia were easily the poster children of base game and have that great cinematic fight and it’s implied Radahn won until Malenia gave him Rot brain. They have the huge festival to kill him in base game where you can summon so many NPCs for help, and the devs literally had to still nerf him 😂 kept seeing everywhere “imagine prime Radahn” well here he is!
I would also like to fight Prime Radahn, but what we are fighting is nothing but Mohg's corpse, which contains Radahn's soul, controlled by Miquella. A puppet. He doesn't even come close to Gael in terms of boss quality imo. His second phase is literally a light show where he spams AOE attacks. Unfortunately, I couldn't play Bloodborne and Demon Souls because I don't have a Playstation, but as someone who played Dark Souls 1, 2, 3 and Sekiro 100%, I cheesed a boss for the first time. This is so anticlimactic compared to my win in which I was literally saved by my message being upvoted which allowed me to take a fatal hit that would've killed me and allowed me to land my last hit on the boss.
My only complaint about the dlc is the amount of life or death platforming it forces you to go through in order to explore EVERYTHING in legacy dungeons. Its not as tedious as some games. And its not LUSICROUS in its execution. It's even interesting at times. But the entirety of castle ensis and the shadow keep are a maze of up down, and omnidirectional secrets. And if you fuck up, you might have heen one turn away from a grace after an hour of trying to find anything.
I agree, some of the platforming and exploration is kinda overkill. I work alot, I only have a couple hours each week I get to game. I've just been looking up tutorials to get through the mazes and platforming, so I can get to the fun stuff I enjoy (grinding bosses and story quests).
@@marinacroy1338 I agree with everything you're saying but I disagree on one part I love how much exploration and labyrinthian connection the area has because it makes you feel just how Grand and vast this entire DLC is making it feel like an entirely new land between which is what it's supposed to be and is in effect. The only real nature of my complaint is I wish that that level of exploration was a necessary to enjoy the amount of story there is while you're playing the story. I wish the lore was hidden in that maze I wish the secrets and the details in the explanations were hidden in those twists and turns. I wish it was accessory to the legacy dungeons I wish it was accessory to finding your way through the game. The amount of backtracking you have to do or recursive attempts just to make a single jump because of the ledge being a bit too narrow or figuring out where to make a jump to begin with because the depth perception is slightly off due to the shading of the game. I love all of it for tone setting and story and storytelling as a narrative. But the thing that I love the most about from software is that it has a sense of timing for those things that I feel may have been the only thing they rushed for this game dlc. But if that's true I cannot fault them a single moment because it is still amazing in every conceivable way. And I hope you enjoy playing it as much as you can
When it comes down to the acquisition of ancient dragon smithing stones and ancient somber smithing stones, I think they should add a mechanic where you can replay the top 5 hardest bosses in the game (decided by developers) and every time you beat the boss you get 1 of either stone (random) and the boss gets slightly harder with a prestige value so you know the difficulty rating. This adds replay value and a reward to upgrade everything to +10/+25 without making play throughs necessary to get more of those stones.
Lol, true, except it's a reversal. In Monster Hunter, blocking is underpowered and I-frames are the superior method. Elden Ring made blocking OP and i-frames the more difficult playstyle.

I agree we should be able to use all the tools the game provides to overcome the challenge, especially for single player title. I'm using summons and 'cheesy' builds myself, but I'm still trying to meet the game in the middle - using summons more as get out of jail free card or a last resort once I have spend time on the boss but still lack damage or health to pull it off. I just think we should not hurry so hard to be angry at people trying to play the game straight and solo. I had my house mate get angry at me because I said I don't want to use summons on this or the other boss and I want to learn his mechanics and he got so mad at me, that I'm calling him bad, I'm elitist and toxic gamer because his default is just using summons so he feels threatened by my refusal do to so, even if I eventually used them to win instantly after being tired of dying for so long. The guy didn't speak to me for a week over how I chose to play Elden Ring, so while people who call using them cheating are wrong, so are those who say that not using them is elitist and inherently toxic.
In my case i dont usually summon because I like the self imposed challenge of doing it on my own. And to be honest, I use a darkmoon greatsword build that trivializes the game for the most part, yet makes it super fun in the dlc. But when I got to the final boss I was truly desperate and I tried everything I could without the necessity of changing my build because I really liked my build and it really worked for the whole game, so changing it because a single boss felt bad design and I was super against it. So I summoned a player, "rose" was its name, and they were willing to help me by tanking the boss like a chad while I inflicted frostbite and massive damage to the boss with the moonlight. And THAT was my first time ever summoning a player. I prefer having this beautiful memory of jolly cooperation that made me now want to summon players and let myself be summoned than winning that boss that felt cheap and bs compared to 95% of the dlc and just having the memory of hating it and being one of the worst bosses fromsoft ever made (he still is) specially considering twin princes exist which is the same but 100 better. So yeah, never feel ashamed of summoning folks. If miyazaki and the team added it, it's for a reason. I never summoned before and look at me now, a veteran player with tons of experience discovering this new perspective of these games. You can do it too , and as solaire once said, praise the sun in jolly cooperation ❤

Elden Ring was made to be cheesed. A lot of the problems people have with ER is trying to play it like previous games. I think the reason a lot of people would have assumed it would involve godwyn is because no one knew what the land of shadow would be. Miquella was thought to be dead but was a part of the dlc so maybe it would have been some sort of godly afterlife? My headcanon? Malenia simps are malding and seething, the lore implications now being that she was sent to suicide bomb Radahn but could not even do that.
One of the two plans of Miquella was to make the Eclipse happen, resurrecting Godwyn's soul. The Death Knights in the DLC served him.
I'm not even mad he used that op as fuck build. Not even that he used cheats to give himself 65 million runes. Rather im annoyed that he is the same guy that says basic game mechanics are cheese. No one is swapping “en masse”. If you are having such trouble with the first few bosses of the dlc maybe it’s just not a genre you prefer because you don’t find it fun. Or if you like it but it’s too hard just use mimic.
Not true. For the less able, that is the optimal build. The gradation is: full evasion, parry, brute force, artillery, tanking with shield and summons. You choose the level of difficulty.

And I hope you enjoy playing it as much as you can
Holy shit he's adjusting his talismans

@@plus-delta4477the fingerprint shield is the only avaible greatshield to blocking like he his doing, i tried other and they cost to much of stamina. In general shield are just dogshit comparing to dark souls
So using a summons is cheating?
Tell Miyazaki that. When he plays, he uses summons.
Imagine thinking they created all that stuff for people to use in the game only to have ignorant yahoos say it's cheating to use them.
By this "logic" the Fingerprint Shield is cheating. So is using weapons. Or, leveling up.
And now using one-handed weapons is cheating too.
Please tell me he's being sarcastic.
I did no summons run only when I got good enough at the game that bosses became trivial, to give myself more of a challenge.
He's not sarcastic, he's a massive hypocrite, consistently one, and a huge simp army behind him.
If there's something in the game that removes all effort on the side of the player - that's cheesing. Summons, this stupid build, it's all the same.
