    I definitely think that a $2000 watch such as the Tudor is a luxury timepiece ⌚.

      Sure if you have it. If not these make you feel good I rather buy $100-300 watches and have a bunch. In this price range there is a cornucopia of great watches. I’m a pocket knife collector an I rather have a bunch to pick from on any given day. I’m down to 60 knives and 18 watches at the moment These are both hobbies that I’m very involved with. These are both very sharp and amazing knives

    Amazing and honest review. I have this exact Tudor and absolutely love it. I know people say it's not a Rolex and they are right. If I wanted another Rolex I would have bought another one. This watch, to me, has more personality and charm than most of my watches. I love the review and love this Tudor. Thank you for taking the time to do it.

    Hi TGV. I just purchased the 2016 version in the same color and it is a thing of beauty. I was drawn to this watch as soon as I saw it. I love all James Bond movies, and something about this Tudor that makes a tool watch elegant and luxurious. Kinda like Bond in that regard. I also have the old Orient Ray Raven 1 on a black nato and it gives it a stealthy look! Love both watches to bits.
    Great review as always, thanks for all you do! Cheers!

    I have the Tudor BB Blue. I almost bought it new for $3K but luckily found it used in perfect condition for 2/3 the price. This piece and the Speedmaster Reduced are the two best time keeping watches in my collection. The BBB keeps +1 sec per week. I couldn't ask for better accuracy. It wears a little large on my wrist but i like the understated quality and style of the watch. The crown is a little large but I have it on the Tudor weathered chocolate brown strap. A very classy combination indeed. I'm glad I bought it and really enjoy wearing it.

    Thank you TGV for another outstanding review/reviews. The Orient Ray Raven II is very impressive, and at that price, it is also very tempting. As for the Black Bay, I own one in blue and I must say, I agree with you 100% about the positioning of the spring bars. When the watch is on a leather or textile strap, the sides look very much like a metal tube to me, and I, like yourself, love to change straps often. That said, I lover everything else about this piece. It is one of my favorites and it sees a lot of wrist time.
    Thanks again and keep up the good work… Cheers!

    I've had mine for a couple of months now, and I bought it after almost two years of longing, saving and changing my mind. I don't regret my purchase one bit, it's absolutely awesome. On leather it works for a dressy casual outfit, on my rubber strap with deployment clasp it's a wonderful toolwatch for the beach or a friendly game of tennis and on the steel bracelet it just works for almost everything! In hindsight it seems that the ETA-version with the curved "self winding" print will be more sought after than the in house-version. It does make it more service friendly and you are guaranteed cheap replacement parts for generations if something would go wrong, which for me is more important than the prestige in an inhouse movement.
    I'm certainly biased when it comes to this watch now, but I had been thinking about a Rolex before I bought this and as sad as it is I partly chose the Tudor because of Rolex's problem with replicas. I wouldn't stand people looking at my watch thinking I probably got it for 200$ in Thailand. Also a Tudor doesn't mean squat to a non interested person, but an enthusiast immediately recognize a fellow in the Tudor while a person with a Rolex doesn't necessarily have a clue about watches and just look at you funny when you compliment it.

    Just got a RR2 yesterday. Fantastic looking piece, runs quietly and is a perfect size for my 6 and 3/4 inch wrist. The bracelet is easy to size and very comfortable (although it does occasionally catch my arm hair 😱). The bezel action is firm and accurate with zero back-play. And the lume looks just about radioactive! Couldn’t be more satisfied at the moment.

    Great review TGV, I really enjoy your channel. I also have the burgundy Black Bay and love it. Your video really captures the rich burgundy color. In a lot of pictures it looks red, but don't let that scare you off...it is really a deep rich color that is really classic looking. I don't think you mentioned it, but the BB (the Pelagos as well), has a cool bezel feature that stops the rotation at 12:00, so even if you are rotating your bezel at in the dark, you can land the triangle at 12:00 pretty easily.

    Hi TGV, I was so closed to pull the trigger on the Orient an hour ago. But I have to hold me back because I bought a Vintage Atlantic Worldmaster yesterday... ;) I've got mixed feelings about the Tudor. I'm not sure what it is. But I like the vintage style of the dial. And the Tudor must look perfect on the original Bond Nato strap.

    Great review of both. I got my Black Bay yesterday! I have only worn it for a day and I do love it. I WAS apart of the big watch craze, I wouldn't look at a watch that was less then 47mm..... I do own a Breathing 48mm Navitimer and love it to death, but thanks to you TGV I have opened my eys to smaller, classier watches. I do have big 7.5 inch wrists so I thought the Black bay might be a bit small, but after getting use to wearing a smaller lighter watch I'm hooked. I'm proud to wear the black bay, almost more then the 48mm Navi. Cheers!

    I'm 21 years old and i think for my age group there are few better watches on the market for a young kid looking to get into the watch world. I've had my black bay for a little over a year now and it runs just as good as it did out of the box (as it should) sure it's eta but it's the best of the best plus slightly modified. That may not be good enough for the older watch lovers with more money but for me you can't get much better. Hopefully when I get older I'll be able to take that next step.

    I can't explain exactly but Ive absolutely fallen in love with this piece, as a Bond lover and someone who is borderline obsessed with "older" looking things I think this should be my first luxury timepiece. Though I can't decide to go for the new in-house or ETA.

    • @Neckbeardo
      @Neckbeardo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went with the ETA since the case is slimmer, and it will be easier/cheaper to service down the road. Additionally, the is less test on the dial with the ETA, and you get the Tudor Rose at 12 o'clock

    Thanks for the great content as always. I've got large wrist, I wish for orient to come out with a slightly larger version. Maybe the way they've done the mako xl in the past. Orient has a way of making an almost perfect watch, with one deal breaker for me. I'm on the prowl for one and sooner or later they are bound to strike my fancy.

    Great video, TGV! I have a blue Mako from this generation, so same watch, and I adore it. Cannot recommend it enough, I also really like the bracelet, it's not that bad after all. Keeps great time and looks gorgeous.
    Absolutely love that Orient, I haven't bought the PVD one just because I was afraid that a black watch could be boring, but now I'm re evaluating it!
    By the way, just for your information, Orient released the new Bambino, it's called Bambino V4, and it has some nice upgrades such as the movement and the look. Maybe you should check it out when you can.
    Love the Black Bay aswell!

    I have the Black Bay in red, as shown here. Its a great watch and I would say that if you are on the fence about it then you should make sure you try it on yourself, in the metal. I didn't like it in any of the pictures, but when I went to the AD I saw it, tried it on, and it quickly grew on me. I have small wrists, and it wears very well. Also, regarding the ETA vs. in house, I am quite happy having an ETA version. The ETA equates to a thinner case, it's probably cheaper and easier to service, and it is plenty good enough for my own needs. Also, for what it's worth, it feels plenty luxurious to me!

    This Tudor is without a doubt the best looking watch you have ever reviewed. You also bought the best one possible. The Tudor Rose and the floating 'Self Winding' text is not available on the newer models. You picked up a winner. It looks excellent on the leather strap as well.

    Hi there TGV, I would love to see you do a head to head battle with the new Black Ray II vs the Seiko SKX007. Last time you did it the it ended in a tie, do you think with the new upgraded movement of the Black Ray II would push it over the edge? Thank you very much!

    spectacular intro! Fantastic video. Both these watches are unique and very cool. if I was going black bay I would go black bay black. love it! I think a ceramic bezel would ruin it, too modern.

    Watched your review of the OG, you made a point of how decent the bracelet is... I'd agree, solid links and reliable, if mundane clasp. Only real negative is the hollow end links, so surprised by your distain a year later.

    In regards to the Orient, I'm wondering if the sharing of technology with Seiko has started? If you look at the hour hand's shape, it looks similar to the SKX007/9. Also, the movement works remarkably similar to the 4R36 or the NH35. The looks like the vibrations are 21,600. Has anyone opened the case to see the similarities?

    I just rewatched this review and whilst outstanding as usual, I couldn't help but think (therefor subjective ) that placing a 'cheap' natostrap on such a high end watch isn't really upping the wow-factor. Even a classy leather strap or that factory woven strap would do it far more justice. Personally, I'd keep it on the factory ss-bracelet, because the endlinks complete the casedesign.

    • @5RustyBin
      @5RustyBin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Couldn't agree more - it looks pathetic on a Nato. The height of the watch certainly doesn't need another two layers of canvas under it just adding to its height. In addition the spring bar location is right at the base of the case so a Nato leaves this huge ugly gaping hole above it where the bracelet would normally flush up to the case and that is the one bit of the watch you DONT want to see as it gets marked from the metal on metal of the bracelet marriage to the case. Its a funky informal casual watch in the red version, so on the bracelet it kinda becomes a little too formal for me. My bracelet has stayed in the box and I rotate it among various distressed leathers personally. No one seems to mention the Tudor bezel click as it hits 12 o'clock. you can set the bezel to 12 in the dark as it "clicks" into place and wont go past 12 till you release and move it again. An incredibly cool feature that everyone seems to miss, TGV included.

      I agree. I think the quality of the NATO really dings it for me. This is a grail watch for me, and if I decide to get one, I think I would put it on either a Tudor NATO or something a little better like a Blu Shark, Barton, or Combat Strap. Leather would also be amazing. A nice, distressed leather strap would be great on this.

      Agreed, the SS bracelet does it for me. I just ordered an extra link to make the bracelet work for my wrist. Bought it off Watch Center in Georgia and they were fantastic folks to deal with. My Tudor Blackbay Red looks good on a chunkier black Alligater hornback strap until the bracelet gets sized right. Great videos as always when sizing up the purchase against other viable options.

      Interesting you say that. I discovered a long time ago a good strap can make a watch better. My thought here is if these cheap straps do so well, imagine how good a good strap can do!

    HI TGV . I bought my BB last year . The honeymoon is still going on ! For me it 's a versatile watch : i can wear it with a nato for fun as a tool watch ,and with a leather strap with a suit as a luxury watch . (waiting to see the new one in 36 mm )

    I also have the Heritage Black Bay and say it's a little less tooly because the no holes case and massive polished surfaces really can attract scratches. If it were brushed I think it's a different story.

    Great reviews. The Orient looks terrific and also seems like a great buy. Your review of the Tudor was very balanced. Not a perfect watch like I anticipated. Still, the things it gets right make the watch very attractive. I wonder how its finishing and texture compare to a similarly priced Seiko diver. I also like the potential of a comparison to the Omega but why not a three way contest? Once again, great job!
