    This is what is needed on TV now. Great characters with good morals and NO SWEARING!! Roy Rodgers, Lone Ranger, Cheyenne, John Wayne, Marshall Dillon, Hugh O'Brien, Paladin and many more

    • @georgemoore7186
      @georgemoore7186 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe you should move to fantasy land, that is the only place where you can pretend that there was a high moral standard, Christ they didn't swear because the Censor would not let them, not because they didn't swear and what would you know about the morals of any of them? do you really think Hollywood had high moral standards in that era? i.e. have you ever heard of a thing called the casting couch? just look up bloopers from that era and before, they swore like troopers, it was just cut out and left on the cutting room floor, they were nearly all drug pushers that killed millions, i.e. Cigarettes, it was legal but there was nothing moral about it! they were no more moral or immoral than people are today, back then you could smoke but not swear, today you can swear but you can't smoke, that has nothing to do with personal morals, that is called censorship
      Personally I am a grown up and bad words do not offend me, I am not a fan of gratuitous swearing but sometimes it is important to the scene, look at the swearing in a Kurt Russel movie called "The Thing" it brought reality and a touch of comedy to the movie, or one of the greatest westerns of all time, again starring Kurt Russel, TOMBSTONE the scene where he said "tell 'em I'm coming, and HELL'S coming with me, what was he supposed to say, Oh Golly gee, I really don't want to offend anyone, would you mine letting the badmen know that I am going to arrest them?? maybe you should stick to watching cartoons with the rest of the children
      I love these old westerns but hate when Old farts come on and get on their High Horse(pun intended) and start denigrating today's movies as immoral by comparison, it would be different if they actually had some idea of what they were talking about!
      John Wayne was heavily involved with Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism in the early 50's, he helped ruin a lot of lives in Hollywood, just because they did not agree with him politically, not sure you could call that moral, John Wayne played left wing Characters in all or most of his movies but in real life he was the exact opposite of what he was on screen, Just look at Rio Bravo, John Russell's character would have been a Republican and John Wayne took the cause of the underdog, and yet in real life he would have supported John Russel's character, why can we recognize the bad guys in movies but not in real life?

Another great presence like Clint Walker was an actor I met in New London Connecticut. I was a sophmore or junior at college, and a fellow student knew I was a big movie buff, so at the dormitory he asked me "Hey Richard you want to meet my uncle?" The cut scenes and still shots that were chosen did nothing but fire memory synapses of TV shows and Movies viewed. Performances and roles some great and some well, they were in the can. The talent that was referenced cannot be downplayed or overstated. Each guest was witty and self deprecating. They all know how to tell a captivating story and do so seemingly without effort, under your guidance or prodding. AWOW just keeps astounding with creating and reliving moments, from the past. Almost all from interviews that had nothing to do with the reworked themes. As always well done, Rob and your team. I've come to believe that this group could somehow create compelling episodes from ten minutes of dead air.

    Wasn't a western "fan" so I clicked just to see the before and after shots; but these interviews were amazing. These people in their 90s blazed to life as they recounted their careers and the people they worked with 50 and 60 years ago. Truly fascinating behind the scenes glimpses of the glory days of tv westerns. Well done and thank you!

    Rob...Thank you for these great clips, especially on Sun. mornings when I was a kid, my dad would stay home, when the rest of us would go to church, & watch the old westerns on local TV, something I did with him in later years. He really turned me on to westerns. My favorite today is the old B&W Gunsmoke 's on INSP. Love too, the great character actors in westerns.Thanks again Rob!
