Ricky is my favourite celebrity. He may be very rich, but he’s not forgotten his roots, he shouts up for animals (which is close to my heart), gives millions to animal charities, he engages with his fans/followers, during lockdown we had free shows on Twitter, every week, he was brilliant! He’s intelligent, he’s been in the same relationship for decades, and then there’s the writing/stand ups. The GOAT

I still remember watching the first episode of the office that went out at 10pm on BBC2 I think it was. By the end of the first 30 minute episode I was hooked. Absolute comic superstar is our Ricky.

Interesting watching this and Michael asks what he is going doing to emulate the success of the Office . It’s now years later he has proved what a huge creative talent he is. ‘Derick’ is my all time favourite Ricky Gervais series. It is just perfect writing and acting from the amazing cast.
I love watching Comedians being interviewed, they always come across as highly intelligent, quick witted and likable, for some reason very few actors have the same effect, I am often disappointed and am left with the impression that without a script and someone putting words in their mouth they are just like ordinary people caught in the headlights....neither impression is necessarily true, just the way they come across sometimes.....never seen any comedian who doesn't have a witty answer of comment on any question or subject, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams, Billy Connolly etc but all comedians are similar, not all are up to the aforementioned standard but they are all quick witted, you never want to start trying to match insults with a comedian cos you will lose every time, they will cut you down, eat you up and spit you out all in one sentence

And people don't feel the need to applaud everything and whoop and cheer. I suspect that they often raise the mic volume to emphasise the audience reaction but surely this is industry standard.

I was an extra and hated it. The long hours waiting around, being told to shut up, then never being used as you didn't have the look they were after!
