  • Quick video on how i set up gables ready for bricklayers, from plumbing off 4x1 to where and how we fit the lateral restraint straps. This always differs from site to site and roof to roof (roofs with ladder ends etc) but this is how we have todo it on this current job. please like and subscribe if you like this sort of video, thanks!

      It’s not the strongest method but you can just face fix them to the block? Might be your best option haha

    Do you use parts of these videos as part of your apprentice portfolio? Just interested in what the motive was for the channel

      I started it during lock down I think it was just for something todo. And also I thought some people my find it interesting, a little insight into joinery on new build sites and how we do stuff compared to other etc. cheers for your comment 👌

      Try find some local contractors and talk to them maybe? Might have to take less pay for a while in till you pick it up? It’s probably a good move though! Good luck

      @@ashleydavenport3794 I am used to fitting and fixing what we make. what is the money like for 2nd fixing on new build housing sites? I am based in Staffordshire do the rates vary around the country?

      @@bikecurious9163 I’d have to have a look at the prices but off the top of my head probably about 500/600 for a 3 bedder then more the bigger the house. Prices will range from area to area and different company’s will price all the jobs slightly differently. It’s best to be able todo it all so you can just have a site to yourself basically for the best average 👌

    Jheeze ain't got time for that on price work , my straps sit on the 4 by 1s where the drawing shows the laterals , fair play though

      @ashleydavenport3794  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s how we used todo it and tbh I think it’s stronger that way because there a load more wall around the straps to really trap them in. These NHBC people always changing there mind! I get the same issue with spandrel panels too! 😩. Cheers pal! 👌

      @@ashleydavenport3794 I have been on sites before where the brickys were ripping off the straps and putting them where they want lol, spandrel panels I just nail 3 by 2 across 2 studs and nail into 4 by 1 no straps need apparently, gable panels I'm literally getting away with just the straps on the 4by1 also screwed into the noggin , nhbc are so inconsistent it's a joke !

      @@jamiewebb9830 yeah that’s all I do with spandrels now but have been made to put straps on them too at some points. If I go on a job 5 mins up the road it’s all different again 🤣🤣😩
