How to get saved if lost in the woods.
    1. Build a bench and wait.
    2. In about 15 minutes some elecsparktrician or turd wrangler will show up to pile stuff on it.
    3. Follow him back out of the woods

Always keep a length of fiber optic cable in your pocket. That way, if you’re ever stranded on a desert island, you can bury it in the sand, and within a few days a backhoe will come along to dig it up, and you can hitch a ride home.

There's a very specific genre of workshop consumables, the ones that you only need once in a blue moon but you can't do without when you do need them, where you can't quite tell how long they've been kicking around in the shop because they haven't re-designed the packaging since the 1960s. Water finding paste is in that genre.

We'd receive a 25 litre plastic container of fuel on a Friday.
What we did was place a funnel in the fuel tank about 45o angle.
With a ladies stocking pulled tight over the funnel.
Then you poured the fuel slowly into the car and any water ( there was usually a little bit) bounced of the stocking...

We use this stuff in the RAF here in the UK. We use it to find the water line in the bottom of 2.5 million litre Bulk Fuel Installations. We also use fuel finder paste to take a 'dip' reading in millimetres to then convert it into litres from calibrated charts to make sure the cold war era tanks haven't leaked overnight...
You know what's always puzzled me?... you know we're like 70% water or whatever the fuck... If a human was to fall in the fuel Installation tank... Would we be able to float? Or would we meet a horrific demise by sinking straight to the bottom and drowning in AVTUR (Jet A1) fuel?...

After 15 years of backup operation and peak shave duty, one of the welds broke on the inner tank and filled the dry space between inner and outer tanks with diesel. We had to get a 1000 gal tank built and slide it into the corner. Those tanks aren't available anymore and it would have cost too much to swap the generator over to a new tank.

Used this type of goo when working with Jet A and getting fuel deliveries. Multiple ways to do it with syringes and tablets, UV lights and pads, and the goo. Goo was cheapest and fastest.

You don't need a battery-operated labomba to empty that fuel tank.
1: place bucket lower than tank that needs evacuated
2: place one end of hose in tank, one end near bucket
3: have dew-claw apply negative pressure to bucket-end of hose
4: watch science-magic empty contents of tank into bucket, also maybe onto dew-claw if lucky

Would love to see them put to the test and for more people to learn about what they are and how they work.

I used that stuff back in the early 80's when I was a Domesticated Petroleum Transfer Technician. Except that back then, it was more of a paste than what was depicted here. The paste was great for spreading on toast. The stuff shown here looks more like a dipping-sauce-grade version. I always wondered if, going forward in my chemical career adventures, I would be able to come up with a paste (or sauce) that I could wipe on the end of my own personal depth gauge, and have it change color to indicate the recent presence of other males in the well that I was dipping.

I transferred some petroleum when I was just a wee lad myself. As I recall it was baby-shit yellow - although I didn't know that at the time - and turned reddish orange when it came in contact with that nasty dihydrogen monoxide lurking at the bottom of all the fermented dinosaur droppings.

We used to get new issue generators filled with "shipping fluid" in the Army. Now as shit rolls downhill, they wouldn't put an experienced person in charge of "put the generator over there and make it go", they would put literally whoever they could find "in charge" of "it", meaning you'd have a 2 man team if you include the generator itself as one of the men.
Honestly, it doesn't matter since literally no one knew the generator had "shipping fluid" in it except the maintenance people who would inevitably have to at least pretend to fix it when it seized up.
