I hate to rain on your parade, but I know a thing or three about diamond machining. Been doing it for 45 years. Diamonds you may recall are carbon. You may also recall that steel is iron containing carbon in solution. Diamond machining of steel is a fine way to carburize the steel. The trouble being that the steel, under cutting pressure dissolves the diamond into the steel matrix. It'll cut for a while, but won't stay sharp for long.... My decades of experience is largely tied to optical precision machining of non ferrous alloys. In that case, diamond is amazing stuff.
And then once you've lost all the diamond on your cutting tool partway through and switch to a conventional tool, you've hardened the steel with all that carbon, doh!
Thus the slow surface speed and coolant, as solubility of carbon in iron is not appreciable at low temperatures. Now a diamond cutoff wheel for a 13000rpm grinder would be a terrible idea for ferrous metals.

We just got this saw for my lab (electronics). It was bought from Allied High Tech in California. We use it to cut ceramic parts and printed circuit boards. It will cut just a out any hard material. However, cast iron and high-carbon steel don't cut well with diamond saws as the carbon in the metal reacts with the diamonds in the blade, dulling them. Keep the blade dressing stick handy.
An alternative to this is a slurry saw. Just uses wire as the blade, and aluminum oxide with milk-like consistency in water as the slurry. The wire is just a conveyor belt for the slurry, it's the aluminum oxide soup that does the slicing.
I used to work at a place where we sharpened saws and made bandsaw blades to size, and we had reels of this stuff in sizes from 3/8ths up to the inch to be cut and welded. I think it was a Starrett product. Mind I think in the years I worked there, we only sold one small blade to a jeweller. Cant imagine what you'd cut with the thick gauge wide ones.
