    4 years later, turns out Mahomes is no fluke. Turns out all of that luck isn't luck but it IS his lane. And it turns out that this craft he's been working so outrageously hard to perfect for his entire life is exactly what he actually does. He doesn't take his position, his abilities, his life for granted. He works extremely hard for everything he's done. And he's earned the respect that so many still choose not to give and that's okay, it comes with the territory. But I truly feel bad for those folks that choose to hate and belittle what he does rather than enjoy it. It's a real greatness that we're not likely to see ever again in this sport. Because it's almost as if the stars had to align for this team to be. Everything we've been building here in KC since 2013 has been amazing to witness and it still shocks me that I've been lucky enough to grow up a Chiefs fan and be around for it.

    Wait wait wait.....Mahomes never got crushed? Embarrassed? Shut out?....Has Cowherd never seen him play at Texas Tech? That's mostly what happened to Patrick despite how hard he tried to elevate his team! He does not take winning for granted! He got all of that out of the way in college, and he came into the NFL draft with people doubting his ability to be an NFL quarterback, he came in with a pretty big chip on his shoulder I'd say! even now, people were still giving ALL the credit to his star players and none to him despite his stellar play. Mahomes doesn't need all those things Cowherd is talking about, from his intelligence to his demeanor to his coach-ability....Mahomes will not crash because he is wise beyond his years and knows what it takes to be great. He is a gym-rat, he constantly studies film.....he loves this game of football and he's had to put thousands of hours of work and practice and grind to be where he is at now! And even then this kid knows he has to keep working and grinding to keep getting better....he has "it"

      @johnpapadopoulos7639 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah any game they ever lost at Tech though was never his fault. He was the reason the won or made it close though. That's how I knew this kid was going to be special...They finished 8-5, 7-6, 5-7 under him, but without Mahomes they likely would have had 2 and 3 win seasons lol. If you took Mahomes and put him on the 2008 Texas Tech team with Crabtree and all that talent and a decent defense....man they would have won the ship

      It's probably hard to believe if you watched the game, but last night the defense was better. We actually had a pass rush. The other phases were pretty bad, linebackers missed too many tackles, secondary can't cover anybody, can't stop the run, but I saw improvement in the pass rush. We made enough stops when needed to win.

      Yes, this is a great comparison. He does not move, improv and escape exactly at the same elite level as Russell, but, as of right now he is really good at all of those things. And when it comes to arm talent, he has a stronger arm than Rodgers and he can make a lot of the same throws.

    • @joelates5334

      @Matt: He is more agile than Steve and he is more creative arm talent than Stafford. However, he is nowhere near as fast or instinctive as Russell. But he can escape a little bit, fend off defenders and is dangerous throwing left or right. Also, he is not quite as accurate as Rodgers is right now, but he has a stronger arm and can make a lot of the same throws.

      It seems like the NFL has decided there won't be any "good hit" if somebody doesn't have the ball, unless you're blocking for the ball carrier.
      This is probably a good idea, and the era of video games (as one example) is a reason that such reflexes can be expected.

    It’s almost like he looks like a veteran, and I think the Chiefs made the smartest decision by sitting him for a year, and learning behind an above average quarterback in Alex Smith. Everything seems to fall in place this season for Kansas City besides the defense, they can’t let up 23+ points a week, especially in Playoffs.

    You're missing the point. Its not about ratings and entertainment. It's about keeping the tradition of the game. That's why college football is better (sec specifically). The student sections, that chants, the tradition. Footvall isnt supposed to be all flashy. Its the perfect game because it combines power and flash. You can have both. Dont take the power out of it

      Brian A nobody has tradition like college football. Uga / ou wasnt a blowout. Bama / uga wasnt a blowout. I'd rather watch kids play with heart then old men chasing money. I dont know your life but go to a big time school and sit near the student section. You'll fall in love with the sport instantly

Mahomes has played 5 games so far. Defenses still have to figure out how to play him. Absolutely ridiculous. I really like mahomes but the media covering him like this is crazy. I get what collin means when he says things like "mahomes is better than favre" but damn dude thats a 20 year vet vs a second year player. I know p. Mahomes will be great for a while, but id rather start saying that a few years in. Not saying he will but if he flops the rest of his career then what? My point is he just gotta put time in before getting that comparison

    • @CinemaSteve

      He was getting at the point of where people say they play the same game at this point in their careers. Both ran and had huge arms. But Mahomes is more coachable than Brett was as a second year.

      Favre played all those games in a row during a time when the game was more physical. You almost have to judge QBs prior to rule changes differently from these current QBs.

    Come on Colin, this isn't a Dos Equis commercial. "Nobody will ever call him system quarterback, they'll worship him. He makes throws you shouldn't make. "He's never going to sit on the bench like Lamar Jackson" (already sat for a year). He's never going to have a bad year. "He's not going to have growing pains like Baker Mayfield. Never had a bad game. You know Brett Farve, he's more coachable, intelligently more Sponge like, he's the most interesting man in the world.
