    Having Patrick Mahomes as the QB of my favorite team is so surreal. When I was growing up, if the Chiefs happened to be good in any given year, they'd be good enough to get your hopes up, but not good enough to have any real playoff success. I never could have imagined the success that we are having now.

      I know exactly how you feel my man. I'm 57 years old, and I started really following the Chiefs the year Todd Blackledge was drafted. We've had some great and memorable quarterbacks, from Steve deberg to Joe Montana to Trent green, and Alex Smith. But the fact that we went straight from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes, who is literally the greatest QB ever, as far as I'm concerned, is just mind-blowing❤
      My youngest daughter who's 28 and a passionate Chiefs fan, is so lucky. Her and I talked about it many times and she's so grateful that she didn't have to go through all the hard times we did. She went through enough but man this is great

    Simms is totally right that other than a few shaky plays in the AFC championship against the Bengals Mahomes has always raised his level of play and come through clutch in the biggest moments. The Bucs superbowl you cant lay the blame at his feet because he did everything humanly possible to stay in that game but his o line was simply overmatched and he was injured. Other than that he’s been absolutely unbelievable in the biggest of games.

    • @derekmathews1557
      @derekmathews1557 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Absouletely! The Bengals AFC Championship is really the only shaky game he had postseason wise ! Mahomes is as clutch a quarterback as anybody I’ve ever seen, and he is doing things faster too. It takes a special kind of dude to win with receivers who cant catch worth a damn. Now his receivers are better this year and I can’t wait to see Brown, Rice, and Worthy on the same field together. Kelce. possibly Wiley on the field too. The Chiefs offense will have tons of weapons this year.

      @@thatstheway2429 , it’s ok though. The Chiefs have won 2 Super Bowls since that game and the Bengals have won none. Mahomes is a huge reason why Chiefs won those Super Bowls but Steve Spangulo has been way underrated because the defenses in 2020, and 2024 have been really good. I think a lot of it is because the Bengals made better adjustments in the second half of that game. Then that game the Chiefs have made better adjustments too. They have learned to run the ball way more and it’s helped them. They have learned play action just mixing it up, that’s helped them too.

Or you can just say Brady beat Mahomes twice and leave it at that

    • @evosmith12
      @evosmith12 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      @@demeresmith7307 anyone that says “Brady beat Mahomes twice” almost always gives that way too much weight to the conversation than it deserves. If D4 wasn’t offsides for what would have been the last play, Mahomes possibly has another Super Bowl and is for sure tied 1-1. It’s so incredibly disingenuous to give the 2-0 so much weight which then gives one play when Mahomes wasn’t on the field so much weight. If someone brings this up they are either jabronis or they’ve been jaded by so much Brady-disrespect they just fire off haphazardly, but that’s on them still.

    I'd like to echo the sentiments of my fellow Chiefs fans in this comment section that having Mahomes, who at times looks like the best player ever to play his position, as our quarterback is incredible. The Chiefs are a storied franchise with many incredible players throughout the team's history-Will Shields, Buck Buchanan, Derrick Thomas, Tony Gonzalez, the list goes on-but quarterback is the one position of severe lack. In the '60s and early '70s, the Chiefs had Len Dawson, the only Hall of Fame QB prior to Mahomes to be on their roster during the prime of his career, and capitalized with a win over the Vikings in Super Bowl IV. They went through a dark period of more than 40 years with a few good seasons from guys like Bill Kenney, Joe Montana in the waning years of his career, Trent Green, and Alex Smith, and a lot of mediocre to downright awful names playing significant time at the position. Draft busts Todd Blackledge (same class as Jim Kelly and Dan Marino) and Brodie Croyle (holds the dubious record of most starts without a win) really stand out there. And because of that, they were never really contenders for close to 50 years, sporting a multi-decade- and 7-game-long playoff losing streak that was finally broken by Alex Smith in 2015 before Mahomes replaced him a few years later and took the league by storm. Fans who have been around for a while appreciate just how much Mahomes and the success he's brought with him mean to the Chiefs and to Kansas City.

    Patrick Mahomes always finds a way to win a game. I think the offense especially the WR room will be stronger this season. They’re bringing back the deep ball 🏈 which is something that kinda went away from his game because he hasn’t had a Tyreek type of a WR at his disposal to put pressure on the defense. He had some accuracy issues last year along with some bad decisions with the ball 🏈.

    Patrick Mahomes did more with less than any QB over the last two years! Losing the most dynamic offensive player in the NFL made him better. This past season was one of the biggest evolutions in his career. To go from having to put the team on his back to win to trusting the defense is no small feat. He has all the gunslinging amnesia of prime Farve with the careful precision of prime Rodgers. The NFL should be absolutely terrified!!!

    The comparison betweem Brady and Mahomes isnt fair. Mahomes was a first round pick to 6th round pick. A genius offensve minded coach to a genius defesnive minded coach. And two totally dif eras

      It doesn’t matter what round they got drafted. You don’t get extra points for being drafted lower. It’s about how you play in actual games and objectively Mahomes is better than him. Mahomes can do everything Brady can do but Brady can’t do everything Mahomes can do. Brady is lucky Mahomes didn’t keep him from those last two rings.. especially in 2018 because Mahomes outplayed him and lost because of a coin toss and then in 2020 had no o line. I think even Brady’s biggest fans know deep down that if Mahomes plays as long as Brady or even just 3/4 as long then he’s going to pass him… I mean it’s been 8 years since he got drafted and he didn’t play his rookie year and he’s been to 4 and won 3.

      Don’t know what difference what round you get drafted in. Would Brady have played better if he was drafted in the first round?
