You are a freaking genius! I’ve seen this technique before but your way seems easier and less wasteful as you were able to collect more in the Pyrex measuring cup!
That is so cool! I have a huge box of lavender buds someone gifted me and was thinking this way to make hydrosols may be the way to go! I've never heard of apple...thanks!
Really Great! Just learning about this and find it so interesting - hope to use in cold process soap and lotion. Can I substitute the Hydrosol for the fluid content in my soaps? Can you recommend a preservative? Is there a natural preservative? Thank you for sharing this terrific video! -Momo
Wonderfully explained!! Which preservative do you prefer and what amount in gms? Also, what should be the ph of the hydrosol after adding preservative?
The pH depends on the preservative you choose to use. Preservatives usually have specific pH ranges where they are most effective. You’ll have to research the preservative you’d like to use, there are a lot out there and it depends on how natural you would like the preservative or is synthetic ok and lot of other factors. 👩🏼🔬
Yes, in the same way. Some plants you’ll want to put in the water and others above it so they just get the steam. You’ll want to research the plant you’re using and hydrosol making more in depth for specifics.
Hi, I have a question about the shelf life, you said 1 year, but with preservative or without? I tried this and also with lavender, a month ago, and I still use it and store it in the refrigerator.
You’d have to do testing in order to know the shelf life. Using a copper alembic still as is traditionally done will give a longer shelf life unpreserved. This method has a lot of factors going on that can lead to contamination. That’s why I state using for personal use, not commercial. I had several hydrosols last several months using this method and one that lasted just a couple. They were all unpreserved. It would be a really good idea to check pH and preserve to ensure it’s safe use.

Nice, thanks👍 Don't some distillation also contain the oils of the plant material?
Yes, some do!
Could dried herbs and flower bw done this way and how?

Great how strong is the apple aroma after several months ??
It didn’t last long unfortunately. I think using an alembic still would create a better product but this works great for personal use.
Do u have to put that in the refrigerator afterwards
I store all my hydrosols in the refrigerator.
Omggg!! this is awsum
U just earned a new Sub 😍😍😍
Please can we use "Ripe Bananas" as well??
Glad to have you!!! Try it out! I think going outside the box is amazing and creates innovation.
@@kandacesilvola ok Doll 😍😍

@@kandacesilvola Thanks 😊

Can this hydrosol use for perfume?
The scent will dissipate quickly on the skin and in the air. It doesn’t linger like perfumes do.
Can you eat the leftover apples
I personally would not but they would make great kitchen scraps for chickens or other animals or for compost.
The lid has to have hole or not
Not a requirement.
When it's expired duration
What is this for?
You can put it in a spray bottle as a toner, or skin mist. You can use it as the water portion in a skincare formula. People also drink hydrosols.
@@kandacesilvola A TH-camr I'm familiar with uses hydrosols in her spray for natural hair. It is so wonderful 😍 lol
