as i understand it, the issue is that gen z DOES have computer knowledge, but it's a different subset from most computer-oriented jobs. almost anything relating to browsers, like searching pages or using extensions, they can do fairly easily. navigating the file directory is also known, though likely by a smaller amount of the group. but for specific programs, or understanding file types - like .zip - gen Z doesn't have that much experience. most children's schools are having the students use the computer as a library, or are using the bare minimum functions of programs to teach certain lessons, and offering fewer varieties of classes that would teach with various programs. it's a lot harder to just mess around on a computer to learn how things work, since there's just... MORE on computers that there was 20 years ago. and general use is primarily through internet browsers now. you can't learn what you don't know exists, and no one's teaching the kids.
@@the_solomon_sage8431 as a gen z I also think that our lack of knowlage about some things comes from how little technology changed in our lifetimes than our parents. back then tennagers/young adults went from (for exaple) landline phone to a phone they can fit in their pocket, which made them need to learn a lot of new stuff fast, when gen z went from a touchscreen to a touchcreen with little changes. of course it's a big generalization and it very depends on where you're from, but (from what I noticed) it's kinda true. but also, yea, they don't teach us much in school, I can barely remember what I did in my IT classes because sometimes we would just draw some things in paint and that's it.
Milennial teacher with GenZ students. What I've noticed is that my students can absolutely work with technology, but they need everything to be direct and with as few extra steps as possible. For example, they will complete a task from the Classroom app, but they will get confused if I attach a file, or if I require them to enter a site where they have to log in. I think they are expected to know more because they were born in the smartphone era, but smartphones are designed to be as easy as possible, so it's not that they don't have knowledge, it's just that it's not knowledge for adaptability. My own experience as I was growing up was going from windows95 to windows7, learning about different file types, how to use converters and download programs, how to get rid of viruses (oh the glorious XP era), what a torrent client was, living the transition to tablets... As in, a lot of stuff that involved having to explore and adapt to get things done. It's not GenZ's fault that their digital world is easier. It's like expecting me to know how to kill and prep a chicken from the farm like grandma did, when I've been getting my chicken from the grocery store since I can remember.

@@erebos42 Yeah, I can kinda guess at the etymology of that. Probably stems from the old joke that women on the internet don't exist, used in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
@Shalakor close, after digging some more, there is a 4chan board called robot9001, or r9k for short. Everyone in that community refers to people there as bots in reference to the even older joke that no one you meet on the internet is a real person. As a blind person who uses the internet, using a BrailleNote or a screenreader depending on what I have on hand, and as someone who always ends up tired of explaining to people that blind people can in fact, very easily use the internet, I really can't help but resent that blind girl who says "using the internet is too much of a hassle." I mean, it's her opinion, and I respect it, but when any one blind person is often people's sole exposure to blind people, they have to be more mindful of how that person shapes people's perceptions of the blind. It's not fair, but it happens; one blind girl says "my friends are blind, I don't use the internet," and blind folks everywhere now have to contend with people who thinking we all hang out with/know each other and are technologically outdated and/or inept. It's frustrating, and it's not her fault, so I guess I resent the situation of people having low expectations for the blind more than I resent her for living down to them. On the whole zip files and zoomers thing - there's a couple of interesting points to be made here (I am a zoomer btw, but a cs student). 1) cloud storage. Services like office 365 are used heavily throughout education, and so we get used to sending an embedded link links to the file and allows them to download it, rather than needing any compression. 2) cheap storage for free. Email accounts have a pretty high free storage limit now, so compression is needed even less for typical mundane files. 3) "it just works". This is a comment on apple and various other brands, who market their products (and in terms of usability, it rings true) as just working with whatever. People get used to just opening files from within the app they think that will work with it, rather than actually looking at the file. People don't know because they haven't had to learn - or haven't been taught.

14:14 This actually came up in conversation with a high school teacher friend I know. Seems like schools aren't giving the basic level computer literacy classes (typing, word processor, etc) that they used to because the assumption is that the new generation is already familiar with it all. However, what they're actually familiar with is smartphones and tablets. You don't need to know touch typing on a tablet, you don't need to know what file types and extensions are, you don't even need to know WHERE files go or how to open them or save them to a specific directory. So, that lack of knowledge causes problems when they get to an age where people expect them to know those things.
9:31 alimony exists because being a devorcé used to be shunned in society. The likelihood of her remarrying was slim to none, she was very unlikely to get custody of the children, and very few (reputable) places where willing to hire divorced women. The standards for divorce where a lot higher too. It was also supposed to end once she was either proven to just be living off of it, or that she had gotten a job, and no longer required it. All of the reasons for alimony no longer exist, but a woman can decide she is unhappy in a no-fault state, ensure you never see your kids, take half of the “marital assets” and as much of a portion of your income for as long as a judge feels like.
Me who is 25 and has 7 exes: wait a minute.... The hate on skibidi toilet is so embarrassing to me. Like don’t get me wrong it’s stupid but blaming it for the inattentiveness of children is so wrong. Zoomers grew up on crazy frog, blue daba di, gangnam style, nyan cat and all sorts of other stupid shit, including source filmmaker shitposts and youtube poops. Skibidi toilet is no different. The reason we are seeing children struggle is bigger than a stupid animation, it’s coming from inattentive parents and bigger negative social media influences like “alpha male” podcasts. Stop shitting on skibidi toilet, the internet has always been stupid.
As much as I dislike "skibidi toilet", I can see your point. There was "XD random" humour a lot in the 2010's. Dancing furries (both animated and fursuits), edited clips of Frozen to make scenes awkward and funny, dramatically saying "O M G" and of course, gaming videos by "peeps" who were hormonal teens. Yes, peeps was popular to say instead of people, too, back when I was young and new on the internet.
Heh, shitting on skibidi toilet, get it? Shitting on the toilet! Anyways, the thing with it is that kids get exposed to short content way too much. It's not just skibidi toilet. It's tiktok, YT Shorts, ig reels and all that jazz. It's shortening their attention span beyond the already short attention span of a child. At the same time, unmoderated short content exposes children to age-inappropriate content all the time, sexualised stuff and the like. My niece is not even 10 years old and talks about fucking and sucking almost exclusively. And my brother and his wife don't see anything wrong with it.

8:00 Adam Smasher is literally him. Bro is him. He’s almost entirely cybernetic, full “borg” if you will, except for his brain. In the tabletop game, Adam Smasher is basically immortal and invincible, you cannot kill him and his only purpose is to end the game. Unless the DM purposefully makes the game about killing Adam at the end, you are going to die to him if encountered. In the the video game made by CDPR, Adam Smasher is a completely underwhelming boss that gets bodied by the player even on the hardest difficulty. Oh, and lore wise he is still that guy in the game, but gameplay wise he is a total pushover, even after the most recent update that buffed him slightly. I beat him on max difficulty with the dildo sword the game gives you early on
6:22 For context, people on the R9K board refer to themselves as robots. When they say “femboy” they mean either a female board member or sometimes more generally even just an introverted woman.

IIRC With Ramona in the comics there are sometimes flashbacks to her dating her evil exes and it's like they were together for a couple weeks in high school.
5:07 I haven't heard about this, but if this is the guy that I think about is criticisms are generally pretty fair and balanced. From what I remember his main concern was not giving the voice lines to the original Mario voice actor and that Chris Pratt didn't even try to put on a Mario voice, which is not only his take but the shared opinion of a vast majority of people. I'm not going to speak on the character he was voicing cuz I don't know about it, but he nearly passed out voicing Pucchi tell me Jojo's Bizarre adventure. I believe there's a difference between criticism and complete bitching which from what I observed, this guy wasn't bitching at Chris Pratt's voice as much as he felt that he wasn't really trying in his performance which again is a very shared opinion. It feels like Chris Pratt was chosen because of his name alone. People don't say that about Jack Black voice and Bowser because even though Jack Black is famous and Bowser doesn't have any established voices from what I can understand, Jack Black fucking brings it in his performances
hot take; Having a lot of exes as a young age is a good thing. I'm just about to turn 24 myself this coming janurary, and I have eight exes myself. Each one taught me a lot, and I carried it to my next. 1- You gotta stay in touch. If you let yourselves go days and weeks on end with zero contact, you're *gonna* drift apart. You are two separate people, but you're trying to build something together. That takes communication. 2- Know who you're dating. You might have found someone who looks to be perfect for you, great company and a great match. But when they start showing behaviors that you were totally clueless to, you can't just ignore them. address them, and try to understand whether they're *still* right for you. 3- You need to be able to trust who you're dating. And at least try to understand roughly how their social circles work. Important note- you have no right to try to control their social circles, but some of their own exes may not be so distant, and some of their friends may be a bit closer than you thought. Try to at least be aware of who they know and how close they are. 4- Don't start dating somebody on a drunken whim. Think it through first, it's not likely to work out. 5- Don't be ignorant to your partner's needs. I made that mistake one too many times, and got totally ghosted as a result. Something was wanted, that I could not provide. Know what they want, and find a compromise if you're not able to satisfy it. 6- Know how much you matter (or don't) to them. If you're in a relationship and you're treated as background fodder, you are not important to your partner. There's a good chance your partner is always looking out for the next *better* partner. Likewise, if you are important you need to understand that. Don't devalue yourself to them, let them appreciate you. 7- Understand their intentions Not everyone has well-meaning when they start dating. You might be there to make someone else jealous, or for any number of non-lifesharing reasons. Try and ask yourself are they getting anything out of it besides your own time and attention, that they can and are counting on? and finally 8- It's a two way street. Both you and your partner need to understand and listen to each other. You both need to put in the effort to be there, you both need to value each other's voices. If you dismiss them at every turn and refuse to let you into their life, then naturally there's going to be some problems. No matter how many years you've been together. Keeping secrets isn't the end of the world, but should be avoided if possible. Emotional availability should be paramount, and if your partner thinks you need to talk to them about something, then talk to them. Having as many exes as this has given me a lot of chances to experience many different types of relationships and partners. The behaviors that can occur, and the things to ensure loving stability. It has given me opportunities to fail and learn. And whilst I have reason to be spiteful to over half this list (#1 and #4 are chill), I am still grateful that I had these experiences, so that I know what the signs look like. Where the failures were. Can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, and you can't achieve emotional maturity without experiencing plenty of emotions.

Every single bigshot legend in Night City that spat in the eye of Arasoka, he personally tracked down and killed with no issue, even Johnny Silverhand. nah they are full of guys who get "friend-zoned" so they relate too much
as a zoomer who spends all his time on a computer, I find it surprising how little my friends know about computers. 14:24
This is so true!
as i understand it, the issue is that gen z DOES have computer knowledge, but it's a different subset from most computer-oriented jobs. almost anything relating to browsers, like searching pages or using extensions, they can do fairly easily. navigating the file directory is also known, though likely by a smaller amount of the group. but for specific programs, or understanding file types - like .zip - gen Z doesn't have that much experience. most children's schools are having the students use the computer as a library, or are using the bare minimum functions of programs to teach certain lessons, and offering fewer varieties of classes that would teach with various programs.
it's a lot harder to just mess around on a computer to learn how things work, since there's just... MORE on computers that there was 20 years ago. and general use is primarily through internet browsers now. you can't learn what you don't know exists, and no one's teaching the kids.
It's because we're not taught we're just expected to know
@@the_solomon_sage8431 as a gen z I also think that our lack of knowlage about some things comes from how little technology changed in our lifetimes than our parents. back then tennagers/young adults went from (for exaple) landline phone to a phone they can fit in their pocket, which made them need to learn a lot of new stuff fast, when gen z went from a touchscreen to a touchcreen with little changes. of course it's a big generalization and it very depends on where you're from, but (from what I noticed) it's kinda true. but also, yea, they don't teach us much in school, I can barely remember what I did in my IT classes because sometimes we would just draw some things in paint and that's it.
Btw guys, apparently on 4chan there's a group of guys who refer to themselves as Robots, and fembots are girls who are like them, so I doubt he was talking about an actual robot or sex toy.
I believe that all the narrators for EmKay are seperate entities like the S.C.P MTF's. They have no idea of eachothers existence, with a few exceptions, and the few exceptions work together for a few subreddits.
I think about this often.
"Damien, r/BlursedImages has breached containment!"
The moment the dude wrote "Fembot" made me laugh so hard 😂
What, you expected him to want actual girl? We are long beyond such silliness.
@@ceu160193 so, apparently fembot is just 4chan slang for a woman 4chan user. The dude does not want to marry a robot
When people realized that some women were using the board as well, the term fembot was adopted to refer to them. And the term started to spread to other 4chan boards as time went on until it became the defacto term for women on 4chan
People on a /r9k/ board call each other "robots", so a "fembot" likely stems from that.

I can relate for the quiz night thing lmaooo. I'm a massive history and geography nerd (actually persuing it perfessionally, since I'm literally in the middle of a degree in international relations lmao), and when I was in 9th grade, my parents dragged me on to a quiz night, where they and their church group they used as their team had never won in literally 20 years. But, my niche knowledge of history came in clutch, and they won 30 grand (but it got split between the 9 team members). I think one of the only questions I can remember was "What were the direct successor states to the mongol empire?" To which the answer was the Yuan, Chagatai, Ilkhanate, and Golden Horde.

Anyway, there's an unsolicited blind rant to start off the new year. Have a good one, y'all.
And if anyone's wondering, no I'm not ranting because the "didn't see eye to eye" joke offended me as a blind person. I thought that was actually the best part of that whole post. I am a blind person who loves blind jokes.

"Its ok to say hi you know"

14:14 This actually came up in conversation with a high school teacher friend I know. Seems like schools aren't giving the basic level computer literacy classes (typing, word processor, etc) that they used to because the assumption is that the new generation is already familiar with it all.
However, what they're actually familiar with is smartphones and tablets. You don't need to know touch typing on a tablet, you don't need to know what file types and extensions are, you don't even need to know WHERE files go or how to open them or save them to a specific directory.
So, that lack of knowledge causes problems when they get to an age where people expect them to know those things.

14:58 Be friends for a long while first. Get to know her well.

Right? It's just like silly old tf2 sfm.

I dated seven people by age eighteen and three of those were a year or longer. That first story makes me feel like I'm the problem
hot take;
Having a lot of exes as a young age is a good thing.
7- Understand their intentions
Not everyone has well-meaning when they start dating. You might be there to make someone else jealous, or for any number of non-lifesharing reasons. Try and ask yourself are they getting anything out of it besides your own time and attention, that they can and are counting on?
and finally
8- It's a two way street.
Meanwhile, you had the option to be female since Saints Row 2
3:05 As someone who's into the fandom, it's Star Wars. It's a mixture of some dodgy decisons and weird shit said by the "managers" of the franchise and butthurt right-wingers whingeing online that "this isn't the franchise I enjoyed, it's gone politically woke!!!11!!" as if fighting a fascist Empire wasn't fucking left-wing already.

I don't know where that person was looking into Denmark, but they certainly didn't google famous Danish cuisine and found long eggs as one of the top results, or even mentioned.

Alimony is generally to cover a difference in earnings. Especially if you gave up your career to be a stay at home mom/dad and now suddenly you have ZERO support, no way to restart your career, and no way to earn what you need to to support the lifestyle your child lived berfore the divorce. I'm not saying it is a perfect system, but it exists for good reasons.
