The reason dandruff shampoo helped the acne is because it contains a chemical that dissolves dead skin. Many dermatologists actually start recomending this for people with fungal acne when usual skincare doesn't work. They recomend this because it's cheaper than buying the skincare formulated version of this chemical. Skincare by hyram explains this better in his fungal acne video.

I mean it's true that a salad is supposed to be more than decorated lettuce. Also lettuce, especially iceberg lettuce, has basically zero nutritional value. It's basically a way to use water as a filler without it being soup

I hated salad for so long coz it was always this "garden salad" sht. I've eaten some ok salads at restaurants but a simple Mediterranean side salad has topped them all.

But there are other types of greens than iceberg lettuce. Baby spinach has great nutrients, and Romaine lettuce isn’t too shabby (while still having a lot of that iceberg crunch)
So even affordable salads can still be nutritional

Agreed. Lettuce is the base, and then you need toppings. Same as how pizza base has toppings, and you'd feel hard done by if you just got a plain piece of bread with a smidge of sauce and cheese on top.

James Cameron's avatar doesn't have a beautifully crafted story that touches on things like racism, classism, the idea of revenge, the importance of finding oneself, whole also having beautifully animated scenes. James Cameron's avatar is just pretty

    • @midnight4685
      @midnight4685 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

I may be completely missing the joke. But everything you described applies perfectly to Avatar:
Racism - Colonisation of Na'vi, treated like savages, the core theme of the whole show
Classism - Jake Sully is a hired thug who is forced into this dangerous situation because the healthcare system can give his legs back but he doesn't have the money for it, also his position in society as an expendable marine gets him treated poorly
Revenge - Quaritch, the main bad guy, his whole motive for the second movie was revenge on Jake Sully for killing him, and even in the first, Quaritch wanted revenge for betraying him and ruining his plans
Importance of finding oneself - That is the WHOLE MOVIE, Jake playing both sides, slowly figuring out that he fits in more with the Na'vi, that his life was deeply unfulfilling
Beautifully animated scenes - Love 3D or hate 3D, it's insanely well-animated, at least the first movie. I know you meant 2D, and 2D is my favourite style for media, but it was insanely well-done and still holds up today
There are also heaps of other merits to both, like the entire Na'vi language, the comedy of ATLA and its well-handled themes of childlike innocence, the incredible worldbuilding of both, etc.
I don't really like the Way of the Water (it's fine on its own but felt like a rehashing of the first movie), and I love ATLA, but I do think the narrator had a point. Neither story is necessarily more 'beautifully crafted', the audiences are just a bit different and express it differently. I think there are less teens who've watched and connected with Avatar in the same way they'd connect with ATLA. ATLA is a coming of age story, it's quite personal and it has much more time to connect with its audience and that's its goal. It can accompany people as they grow older and be rewatched throughout their lives. That's why it has such a presence and people still talk about it.
People don't generally talk about colonialism and the damage to indigenous culture with their friends as a light topic, and that's kind of at the core of the difference in their presences, I'd say. It's a bit hard to go "Yeah!! I'd love to be an Avatar, pretending to be a Na'vi and wearing the skin of the indigenous population in their beautiful world" when that's what the theme of the first movie fights against, but anyone can go "I wish I could bend water, imagine how much you could do with it! Look, what if you bent water out of the air..." and get into long, fun, theoretical debates.
Both are pretty. It'd be silly for someone to say "Oh, ATLA is just flashy magic, it doesn't cover half as many topics as My Little Pony, which covers slavery, revenge, racism..." etc. because it doesn't matter. Different properties will affect different people, doesn't mean they're better or worse than each other.
Basically, both. Both are good. And I don't think they need to be compared to each other to be acknowledged for each being great. No need to drag other franchises down to lift another up. ATLA is a wonderful show in its own right.

@midnight4685 The problem is James Cameron sold his movie on the visual effects, not the story. Also, there's something to be said about people remembering the names of single episode character from ATLA, but failing to recall the name of any main character in the blue people movie. Cameron also didn't write a movie; he asked "can make a movie about the Aboriginal, but with more explosions and no risk?"

9:04 the only explanation I could have for OP still being angry after like 15 years and not understanding why is that he was honestly probably in love, or at the very least had developed some solid feelings for this person in some capacity. Having her pretty much kill their relationship because of outside factors like wanting different friends and a boyfriend caused some severe emotional distress that he probably just shoved down and repressed.
best advice I can give him would be to either find a therapist or a good friend that he could confide in and talk things out. He needs to unpack all of that pent up anger and actually process it. While not having exactly this experience I can definitely empathize. Had a friend myself who happened to be a girl and I developed feelings for her that we're never reciprocated. I try not to let it mess with our friendship but we eventually kind of grew apart and she just stopped talking to me one day. Bumped into her once or twice over the years but never actually held a conversation. Took me a long time before I admitted to myself how I was feeling and just kind of worked through it with the help of my friends.

So fun story: there's two origins to this: a fundamental misunderstanding of Latin heritage, and some fun with American history.
First off, Mexican, Puerto Rican, etc. are national/cultural ethnic identities, but if you take a DNA test, your result absolutely is gonna be Native American, West African, and/or some flavor of European. Because that's where they're from. That's how Spanish/Portuguese colonization worked. I mean of course there's people who don't know that just like there's people who don't know there's a country in Europe that "speaks Mexican," or that Puerto Ricans are American citizens. Still, it's surprising when the person who doesn't know that is themselves Puerto Rican/Mexican/etc.
Second, depending on the tribe, area, time period, and treaty, it has been better in the past for some people who were Native American to instead identify themselves as Mexican. Weird as it may sound, it's not really that surprising all things considered. Not only would Spanish be as common a lingua franca as English, but frequently the people who would target group X for exclusion/oppression were also really bad at telling the difference between different ethnicities (see also "Cherokee princesses". I mean, it happened with a lot of different groups, but at the same time, this is one of the more famous examples in the US.)

Honestly love how they added a small donation for some kind of pro-choice charity (or something like that) for people ordering it from states with more and more anti-abortion laws, knew certain people would whine about it and simply explained why by saying “sometimes we are forced to do things we don’t want to, sorry not sorry”.

(Sorry for the length. I'm just thorough with my thoughts is all.)
The thing about face cleaning products, same experience. Really bad acne through middle and high school. Store bought soaps and creams, tried mixing different cleaning things to make Frankenstein's monster zit destroyer, used TV stuff like Proactiv, all the things. I washed 2-3 times a day when trying each and acne stayed the same or became worse, with ProActiv was the worst of them all.
Finally said fuck it. I'm a pizza face for life I just accept it. Just did a quick light clean once in the shower each morning, pulling suds down barely rubbing my face when washing my hair. Face cleared up within a month or two. They're all trash to steal money.
The main problem is people think it's because of oils when for so many it's from washing TOO often. For some, like me, twice a day was even too much and being thorough was also bad.
Your skin dries out, skin gets irritated, and you break out. You stress about it, wash more, cause more damage, looks worse, think you're not washing enough, on and on. Stressed out and miserable until you have a breakdown.
If you've tried all the things, go minimal for a month or so and don't be discouraged from results not being immediate.
Do a light clean ONCE a day with your shampoo in the shower. Just do a quick face rub, 3-5 seconds with the shampoo suds from rinsing your hair out. The heat and steam opened your pores and you don't want to do a thorough scrub. If you wear foundation and you refuse to not use it, it's horrible for your pores and removing it irritates broken out skin if you use products. Use very little or none for a while.
There's my insomniac 8am 4/5 asleep comment. Hope it helps any who happen to read my novel and have a good with it.

It's almost like Japan is an incredibly prosperous country, built and maintained ENTIRELY BY THE JAPANESE...
There's a reason they don't want people visiting from other countries and then expecting THEM to bend over backwards to make the GUEST feel like they're AT HOME... in a place that is not and has not been their home, ever.
I know America lets everyone in and pretends we have room for 500 other cultures and we can all coexist peacefully... And you see how well that works out
Japan as an entire country has less crime yearly than the city of Detroit. But sure, go over them and shit on their way of doing things because AMERICA IS PERFECT.
Some places are great because the people there are actually taught to value the history and culture of the place. They don't think of it as the "Easy to be poor" country where they can just be disrespectful of the actual infrastructure that allows them to exist and benefit off something they contributed nothing at all to building.
America is not the only country that has things figured out, and the sooner people here stop feeling that way, the sooner we can start figuring out how to actually improve. A country this wealthy should not have so many poor, uneducated and unemployed people, and it shouldn't be built on the idea that folks can work non-stop and still "not deserve" to live comfortably.
Don't try to ruin other countries, try to fix the one that brought you up this way.

If only the last post wasn’t blatantly fake. I mean my coworkers are more patient with me because they’ve started suspecting I am autistic (I have no idea but it’s likely) but I am also being very alert to my feelings and will take small breaks to calm down frequently, and will ask for help or offer it more often to help keep down my stress and anxiety. It’s a full mutual effort that depends on actually helping each other instead of being stuck in the last line of defense like a previous job I was terrible at.

If you have certain types of acne then it does, you should look into it. Basically head and shoulders Shampoo or any Shampoo that removes dandruff can also remove dead skin cells on other parts of your body, like on your face. If dead skincells are a cause or catalyst for your acne, removing them will be great.
