Sheldon's behaviour in this scene is very typical of Asperger's people. Money isn't usually high on their concerns and they know what they can and cannot live without. As well, Asperger's people hate to see other people struggling with problems they can't solve themselves and are often willing to help out where they can. As a person with Asperger's, I'd have done the exact same thing in Sheldon's position.

Although technically, Sheldon does have some personality quirks that reduce his ability to function, mostly regarding his stringent routine, and can't really drive a car. All I am saying is that there is some evidence in the show that sheldon doesn't have all of his functions, but learns throughout the show (having coitus with Amy 😂) some life skills. Easily I would say Leonard, raj and Howard all have asperger traits (and genes by extension?!? It's being studied), but are fully functioning adults, mostly. It's easy to find evidence of the guys learning better social skills through Penny, modeling the behavior to sheldon+Amy.

Crucifier61 he has aspergers/HFA. Not OCD. Not to say he doesn't have OCDish tendencies, but he will be a logical person. For example, he didn't mind spit in his hand because he can wash his hands, but spit in mouth ears or eyes is bad.
As well as it being money he doesn't need, he has become used to Penny (I wouldn't say "friends with her"). If she did move out, they would have another neighbour, which he would find very hard to deal with - remember he doesn't like change. So, it's not being entirely selfless.

Academic researchers get paid damn decent especially at research universities like CalTech. They each make more than enough to not need roommates or live with their mom (Howard) but choose not to so they do what they love with their money when the time comes.

I really believe that the BBT was loosely based on the Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper 1941 movie, Ball of Fire. Cooper ,( funny that Sheldons last name is Cooper) plays a professor writing a book about slang and finds bar singer, Stanwyck, and invites and introduces her to his colleagues at the university. I do love the bond that Penny and Sheldon has in the series.
Sheldon may be special about some things but for the people he cares about he will always be there, Penny treated Sheldon like another sibling so Sheldon must really consider her now as part of the family. This is a cute bromance, they have eachothers back. Sometimes they fight sometimes they help eachother, like brothers do. I really find it weird to see people shipping them, not criticizing what they like just saying that it would be a weird pair together after all that has happened. As a xmas special said, if leonard was not in the picture, they would probably be canon but I still really like shamy since they bring out the best of eachother.
This reminds me that a year ago i had a friend which supposedly had money problems so I offered to lend her. Two weeks later she asked me to borrow again because she had problems with the car. The following month she asked me again but this time told her that I havent any money. After that, she never spoke to me again. The only interaction was a few months after when I spoke to her to ask her when was going to be able to pay me back the money, and she reluctantly told me: "as soon as I can." We never spoke again.

And people say that sheldon is a bad friend but most of the time when he is mean he doesnt mean it (except when it comes to Howard) but people forget Sheldon is actually a very nice person
Sheldon and Penny have always seemed to have a brother/sister relationship. I think that while they tend to get on each other's nervous because they're polar opposites, they kinda help one another understand parts of themselves they try to ignore.
Unless you have a roommate like Sheldon does, I wouldn't be jealous. Sheldon only probably saves so much because he and Leonard split the rent as roommates whereas Penny lives alone and struggles with her finances. Without Leonard, Sheldon would most likely be in the same boat as you.
This scene is probably the easiest way to describe Sheldon's overall personality. As long as he can have his needs covered, he's a caring person and has no problems helping those important to him. Problem is, he's VERY needy in almost everything BUT money.

I find it weird that Sheldon is not at all bothered that Penny licked her fingers then grabbed money from his hand. I would have thought he would have some sort of panic attack or deeply rooted notion that she is trying to get him sick on purpose.

Crucifier61 he has aspergers/HFA. Not OCD. Not to say he doesn't have OCDish tendencies, but he will be a logical person. For example, he didn't mind spit in his hand because he can wash his hands, but spit in mouth ears or eyes is bad.
As well as it being money he doesn't need, he has become used to Penny (I wouldn't say "friends with her"). If she did move out, they would have another neighbour, which he would find very hard to deal with - remember he doesn't like change. So, it's not being entirely selfless.

It occurs to me that Sheldon could afford to live without a roommate yet chooses not to.
Academic researchers get paid damn decent especially at research universities like CalTech. They each make more than enough to not need roommates or live with their mom (Howard) but choose not to so they do what they love with their money when the time comes.
Well he didnt just want a roomate because of financial problem. He just cant stay alone and lonely and probably doesnt wana show it. Plus. He wants a ride as well also to tale him to shopping and etc.

I really believe that the BBT was loosely based on the Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper 1941 movie, Ball of Fire. Cooper ,( funny that Sheldons last name is Cooper) plays a professor writing a book about slang and finds bar singer, Stanwyck, and invites and introduces her to his colleagues at the university. I do love the bond that Penny and Sheldon has in the series.
Sheldon is annoying sometimes but he's equally adorable
Sheldon may be special about some things but for the people he cares about he will always be there, Penny treated Sheldon like another sibling so Sheldon must really consider her now as part of the family. This is a cute bromance, they have eachothers back. Sometimes they fight sometimes they help eachother, like brothers do. I really find it weird to see people shipping them, not criticizing what they like just saying that it would be a weird pair together after all that has happened. As a xmas special said, if leonard was not in the picture, they would probably be canon but I still really like shamy since they bring out the best of eachother.
This reminds me that a year ago i had a friend which supposedly had money problems so I offered to lend her. Two weeks later she asked me to borrow again because she had problems with the car. The following month she asked me again but this time told her that I havent any money. After that, she never spoke to me again. The only interaction was a few months after when I spoke to her to ask her when was going to be able to pay me back the money, and she reluctantly told me: "as soon as I can." We never spoke again.

Sheldon and Penny have always seemed to have a brother/sister relationship. I think that while they tend to get on each other's nervous because they're polar opposites, they kinda help one another understand parts of themselves they try to ignore.

Unless you have a roommate like Sheldon does, I wouldn't be jealous. Sheldon only probably saves so much because he and Leonard split the rent as roommates whereas Penny lives alone and struggles with her finances. Without Leonard, Sheldon would most likely be in the same boat as you.
