    I love this. Please continue to do more. This is the only SharePoint layout that is different from everyone else. You make Sharepoint more interesting for me to learn.

    Thank you so much for your work! I think this also gonna work for my little image gallery for our company. I can put all information in the detail page like copyright, download-button and can make it more adobe stock like. Definitely will checkout your intranet course, in 2026 there will be a whole relaunch. best from germany, you are helping people world wide with your tutorials, awesome work! THX!

    do you cover coding custom web parts in typescript too ? great video but it does seem like a very "static" site.. it would need manual updating every weekk etc wouldnt it?

    Great video! I just gave this a shot and tested on the SharePoint mobile app, the videos download and can't really expect our workforce on the road to be doing that. I'm baffled by the new Stream stuff so curious to know if this happens for anyone else...!

      Hi Kimberley, glad you enjoyed the video. Apologies for the delay in coming back to you. I was looking at this today and am having the same experience as yourself with accessing video via the app. Not great! 🥺 I thought I might get around it by accessing the site through the teams app via Viva Connections but same result.😢 I then accessed the video through safari on my phone and still... no joy.😭 Finally, I accessed the site with the Edge browser on my phone and what do you know.... it worked 🤨 Bit of a gap here for sure. I have to assume that this is in the pipeline and is just a miss with the MS crew. Keeping employees who are on the road engaged and up to date via the SharePoint app has always been a challenge. You could always get sneaky web link that looks like an app added to everyones phone that will open the Intranet (or your site of choice) within the browser and somehow ensure that the browser is edge but that's not the most elegant solution. Perhaps somebody else has some ideas on this. I just really started looking into this this evening so will continue and report back what I find! Keep the faith! 🫶

    Amazing video, haven't seen something like this being built in SharePoint. One thing, is there a way we can get rid of 'New', 'Page details' and 'Analytics' buttons?

    • @Academy365-Dan
      @Academy365-Dan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the amazing compliment! I'm not aware of any way to achieve this out of the box. Some development effort could potentially achieve this but, I would avoid this route if at all possible. It may well cause you bigger problems down the road with future updates by Microsoft

    Hello again, Dan and happy new year! I've created a learning video library for users in my tenet to learn about MS Products, I followed the same steps and it is working perfect (Thanks again!) my only issue is that some topics have many videos and I want for the user to see the next 5 videos in order for them to choose when viewing a video. I'm using highlighted content webpart so if they are watching E.g video number 5 about Sharepoint I want the highlighted content to show videos starting from video number 6 to 10 (I'm only allowing for 5 videos to show in the highlighted content webpart) apparently there is no way to do it in the HCWP, I can do it using quick links but so far I have over 60 pages and this will take some time! can you help?

    • @Academy365-Dan
      @Academy365-Dan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mens, Happy New Year to you too; I hope you enjoyed the holiday period! Sounds like you're flying there with your solution! Sounds like what you are looking for is not available functionality (as you have said). It would require the HCWP to be 'aware' of the current page which I don't know of any way to do. You could have a look at creating a list for each MS Product using the 'Playlist' template (that bit is important). This would allow you to have a page per MS Product with a playlist embedded in it. I'll record a video on this end-to-end, but if you want to have a quick call, I'd be more than happy to demonstrate. Send me an mail at dan.carroll@academy365.io if you want and we can set something up!

      @@Academy365-Dan Thank you so much for your kind reply, Dan! and sorry for the long delay in response. I managed to over come this by creating "Sub Topic" in the term store and with that I got less videos but it was more relevant. however, I think we still need to have better ways to handle HCWP but for the time being this is great. thank you for offering to chat about it, I'd love to have a quick call sometime and show you my progress. Thank you sir!

    Very good info and presentation.
    What will be the way to avoid creating pages manually for videos because we might have lots of videos. Is there any good approach you suggest?

    • @Academy365-Dan
      @Academy365-Dan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tussah. Thank you very much for the compliment. If you don't want to create an individual page per video you can always just structure the document library that you store your video files in the same way we structured the Site Pages library in this video. Then all you have to do is direct the Highlighted Content web part to look to this library instead of the site page library. All other principles in this video will still work. If you give it a go and run into any issues let me know (or if you have any more questions, let me know too). Good luck with it all!

      @@Academy365-Dan thanks.but how it will be possible in document library to llay the video inline which was clicked from the home page highlighted content webpart. It means the site page you have designed for specific video. How it will be possible in document library

    Very helpful tutorial... How to hide/remove "edited by" and "picture of edited person" for each item in the category?

    • @Academy365-Dan
      @Academy365-Dan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Thanks so much for the compliment. If you mean the metadata that is displayed within the Highlighted content web part, then, unfortunately no. That is pretty locked down as far as customisation goes. If you have development super powers then you might be able to replicate that web part as a custom web part or indeed, use the modern search PnP results web part with a custom layout and query to display things a bit cleaner. If you do manage to do this let me know! I'd love to see it!

  • @nrupathunga05

    Great Video! I do not see "VideoCategory" to choose from Property name. I just see Title. Reference at @14:02.

    • @Academy365-Dan
      @Academy365-Dan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, 'VideoCategory' was the metadata column that we added to the site pages library in order to categorise our videos. Do you have the web part set to look in the 'Pages library on this site'?

    What if I would like multiple categories per video? Would I just need to create another term and list?

    • @Academy365-Dan
      @Academy365-Dan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Leroy, yes you are right. A new category will require a new column within Site Pages. You can create this the same way I showed for the Video Category via Managed Metadata column which references a new Term Set. You can also create this within Site Pages as a Choice column and manage the choices within the column settings. You only need to create the list if you want to add it as navigation to your pages. Hope this makes sense but if not let me know and I'll come back to you. Dan
