You can tell they had a blast filming this episode. Honestly watching this makes me sad in a way because it makes you think back at the times when you use to go on big outings with family, friends and neighbours and everyone chipped in to help. Not anymore though, those kinds of outings are long gone. Also makes you think about the people you went with on those trips who are sadly no longer alive. But only fools and horses had a powerful message, remember the good times you had with everyone and never forget them or where you came from

A lot of this was filmed very close to where we live (still do)in the later part when the coach pulls up and Rodney gets off and walks to his home, this was Lower Northdown Ave Margate, the block of flats are yards from my rd.

I miss the old days when people still had a sense of humour. This country has become a miserable soulless humourless place to live where people get offended by just about everything .

Ironic that you yourself have got offended by your perceived state of the country so much to make a bitter comment yourself.

Most people don't have a problem with it, it's the social engineers pulling the strings of the govt that do. People are being conditioned into thinking something is offensive when it isn't, and this is being used to control people and their behvaviour and thoughts so we become complacent.

I live in Margate still do,we watched a lot of these scenes being filmed. The bit where Del and Rodney arrived back at the Villa Bella late was filmed in Dalby Square actually quite late one summer eve when it was dark, incredible to imagine that when they are skipping across the square trying to be quiet then chucking stones at the window there are crowds of people literally just off camera, also trying to keep quiet.
The bit where the coach blows up was one Sunday morning when there was a children mini marathon going on in the area and all the stars suddenly turned up.
Great Memories and loads of "off the record" snaps.

@@barrysolly2637 I can remember the exact date of the Dalby Sq filming when they are first looking for a B&B - it was May 11th 1989, the day before my 15th birthday. I remember watching them film and asking my Dad who the Jarrow marchers were that Del mentions. And Rodney's 'London' flat where he's dropped off at the end was shot just off Northdown Road in Cliftonville.

Remember our own jolly boys outings to Margate and sneaking in to Dreamland through holes in the fences and over walls alongside the railway tracks, had to run off the end of the platform and get into the bushes before station master saw you, got caught once and fined £9 for trespass on the railway . Not just reality TV. Everyone seems to be obsessed with Netflix, and alot of the TV shows on there are full of very dark and disturbing themes and storylines, even stuff that is aimed at kids is full of satanic imagery and propaganda. Then there's ITVX, all full of morbid crime dramas like Original Sin, the Bay etc, plus it's all woke.

I'm surprised no amateur home video has been released by a member of the public filming some of the scenes. I know this was 1989 even before handycam type camcorders had become commonplace, but video cameras where around then albeit very clunky and expensive. With all the scenes being filmed in that seaside town it would've attractive alot of attention and crowds gathered to watch, and possibly someone may've recorded some of the filming or taken a few snaps with their camera. But saying that, it's surprising even today with everyone having a smartphone on them you see very little footage of any TV show being filmed, or at least few little footage gets uploaded.
