    hehe met all of them, live in Margate still now. I am actually taking my kids to dreamland tomorrow which is the fairground they went to in this episode although back then it was owned by a different people and called Bembom brothers. its 5 minutes down the road but has changed very much although one ride they went on in this episode called the scenic railway is still there and I shall be on that tomorrow with my kids lol.. Sunday at that same train station they all stood at when i leave to go see my parents. The police station where the coach stops in this is gone to and that is in Broadstairs between me here in margate and Ramsgate, brings back memories watching this not only because of the great episode but also how it was here all of those years ago. The bed and breakfast they stayed in is still there and is a place called Dolby square in Cliftonville just round the corner, so weird seeing all of this in this episode every time I see it lol. Anyway I actually met pretty much all of them not in margate though but in Ramsgate just down the road and Dumpton market (Ramsgate) which is the market in this episode that they were at. Just the part where Cassandra walked over to albert and said one or two lines together took about 50 shoots and over an hour. I also played an only fools and horses fruit machine in pleasurama amusements (now long gone) with del and Rodney lol. They put quite a lot in it as well together but didn't get the jackpot they wanted so that they could hear the fools and horses music play after getting it lol. It was a good laugh. Spoke to almost all of these people and feel very privileged to have done so having been a massive fan from a young age and still now.
    They will never make shows like this again, this will live forever and be loved by generations long after we are all gone. True piece of art!

      Classic. I’m 30 now but this will always be a proper boys out for the day at the seaside. Only fools and horses inspired me & my mates to do a day to Southend every year in the summer since 2012 cos of this. We get a coach of us, few or many beers and a laugh on the way there. Then enjoy ourselves when we are there. We enjoy the rides, beach, pier, arcades, seaside ice cream, donuts, Fish & chips etc & just act stupid 😂 Few more In the pub before we leave 😉 can’t beat it. It’s like we was teens again and we are all late 20s early 30s now with responsibilities. But it’s a day we can forget about all that. Everyone should have a Jolly boys outing. One of the funniest and best days of my year.

      Wow !!! You met John Challis, AKA, "Boycie". What is he like in real life ?. I saw an episode of Loose Women, with him, and Sue Holderness, who played Marlene, in Only Fools, And Horses. He was a gentleman, to the Loose Women ladies. They were talking about The Green, Green Grass. I don't like The Green, Green Grass. It's not as funny, as Only Fools, And Horses.

      I think if you can find a balance between old/older and new you can enjoy the entire spectrum and find some comfort in this hectic way of life we all seem to be in. One of the best things for me is watching these great old comedy re-runs, this, Hi De Hi, Are You Being Served, Dads Army, Blackadder. Having a proper laugh with the family, friends or by self, away from mobile phones or social media. It's food for the soul and my mental health and it doesn't get much better than fantastic comedies like this.

    A sitcom to be proud of, made by the BBC who were once a broadcasting agency though now a left wing political movement... We await this show to be targeted by the hard left / BBC / Guardian readers and taken off air or massively edited. From kids to old folk, this show is fine for all to enjoy and even if you are a market trader like Del Boy himself...

      @Arsenal 1207: I love that and "Bonnet de Douche" as well, the only thing that Del does get right is his pronunciation of Moet Champagne, but he thinks he is getting it wrong like his other quips and that's why its funny because the "joke is on him" as its the only thing he actually gets right.

    We recorded the Jolly Boys Outing on video tape when it first aired in 1989 and I still have the cut scene version of Del and Rodney in the night club discussing Rodney's marriage to Del. I think it was cut because of the music track "just the way you are".

      Tony Palliser yep. Parts of the dialogue make references to race. Not in malice but just as was common at the time - nationalities of shopkeepers and take away providers.
      I think the DVD releases also have heavy editing to cut out songs that they couldn't get/afford the cost of licensing

I'm pretty sure this is one of the few comedies that is just as funny now as it was when it initially aired. To me a mark of genius comedy because I never get tired of watching O.F.A.H repeatedly!

    It was a great episode as it brought all of the characters into a single story line. They should of done what they were going to do and end it here though. Or maybe a few episodes later after Del got his dream which was a wife and kid. The show would of ended on a high but they dug it into the ground as they began to rely more and more on cheesy one liners and recycled jokes. The producers took it too far with not being able to let go.

    • @mentaldavethefirst
      @mentaldavethefirst 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    • @neilwatson4461
      @neilwatson4461 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those last three episodes after the original ending were not good at all.
      Not having Uncle Albert and Mike meant it lost something plus the cast were really showing their age and the stories were poor with some not very good material.
      Some sitcoms just don't know when to end, they all reach a peak and sadly begin to flatline a bit.
