    Before going harsh on these people, bare in mind that they are trying to replicate the greatest comedy series ever which is near impossible and it was never gonna be as great as the original but despite having huge standards to live up to, they all did a fantastic job. Top marks to all of them I absolutely loved the show 👏

      I think people should defo watch it before judging it. It gets better and better as you do. It does also staple that they are character that are different rendition of the original. It's not a bad thing. We also go on an emotional journey as the character's can express themselves more clearly through song and some of them can touch your heart. This is my fav comedy of all time, so I was defo skeptical before going to watch it.

  • @ZanzibarBreeze

    I don’t quite get all the negative comments. It’s a musical, it’s not trying to be a continuation of the show, nor is it trying to succeed the show in any way. every man and his dog watching this will have seen every episode of the TV Series and all the specials dozens of times, nothing will beat it, it’s a national treasure. Just try and enjoy this for what it is, a light hearted tribute to the greatest comedy in our history.

      @unrealdwarf1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the negativity mostly comes from the people who love the original series so much, they just put the nostalgia goggles on and misjudge this, because of how highly they hold the original. I mean, I am a major fan of the original Only Fools and Horses and it can't be topped, it's a classic, but I can't really discredit this show or the actors in it because of that. Again, the original can't be topped nor can any other interpretation come that close to it, the performances from the original actors are unique (therefore making the characters unique) and because of that, they are very hard if not impossible to recreate, but the effort is there. They're not copying them, but they are trying to hold on to the spirit the original had. The same can be said for the performance of the songs.
      The humor is decent here, you can tell that Jim is genuinely trying to follow in his father's footsteps.

      @@akashrathour3441 Unfortunately all current releases of the show, be it DVD, VHS or digital have been heavily edited. Whole scenes are missing from some episodes, lines have been edited out, jokes have been censored, some lines have been cut and haven't been seen/heard by viewers since the original broadcast in the 80s. Licensed music has been replaced with uninspired stock music. Scenes were cut out or chopped down before broadcast to fit a TV timeslot.
      What OFAH fans want is a full boxset release of every episode, completely uncut as it was originally intended to be broadcast without any timeslot restraints, with no censorship or missing scenes/dialog and original music restored.

      @@akashrathour3441 Furthermore, one episode (Sickness and in Wealth) on one of the DVD releases actually has 9 minutes of extra footage which has never been broadcast even on TV nor is present on any other release. This was apparently released by accident and it was the cut version which they meant to release. This indicates that there might be lots more scenes which were removed before original broadcast that were cut simply to chop down the length of the episodes to fit an arbitrary TV slot, and not for editorial reasons. It would be great if the BBC could release the full episodes with any scenes or lines that were removed for this reason.

      @Stay Classy other comments on this video have said that this is the o opening segment to the show, so yes, I can tell you otherwise. And yes I am fun at parties. Sorry for expressing an opinion on something that differs from your own. Being a long time fan of a show that's been around for decades, I have preconceptions of how I'd like it to be if I'm to enjoy it. Some of it doesn't seem to conform to that, therefore I don't have to enjoy it. If you enjoy it that's fine but don't jump down my throat for picking up on something that I find to be a fault with it compared to the original series.

    • @H0n3yMonstah
      @H0n3yMonstah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Stay Classy like I said to you, it doesn't have to be exact, yes I'd picked up on the cigarette case story but I could let that slide for the sake of artistic interpretation. Similarly with the back and forth between Rodney and Trigger, which was from the same episode when they're at the council meeting, which also never took place in the market. However grandad and Cassandra never met, so that grandad would be aware of her in this is just the artistic licence going too far in my opinion. Changing settings I can deal with, changing the history I don't like.

    • @H0n3yMonstah
      @H0n3yMonstah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Stay Classy I had to watch it in the first instance to see if I'd like it or not. Why shouldn't I comment if I'm not keen on something? If everyone was here circle jerking each other over it then that would be no fun, would it? Do you prefer living in echo chambers? Anyway I was merely responding to the original commenter, you were the one that took it upon yourself to correct our opinions on this subjective matter. If you don't like our opinions, why are you even commenting on them? It's only an opinion, no need to lose any sleep over it.

    From what I’ve seen of this, it’s seems great and as a tribute to the greatest tv show that’s ever graced our screen it seems one of the best to all the negative people who say it’s dreadful after watching this 5 minute clip, yes I get it’s not David Jason but it never was gonna be and no one can beat his role as Del it’s iconic and DJ made Del into a national treasure.

    Me and my boyfriend saw this on Friday and we absolutely loved it. So glad we got to see it as it is ending quite soon, which is sad
    Like a lot of people on here, I too was very skeptical at the idea of OFAH being made into a musical, but honestly it’s one of the most charming and enjoyable musicals I have ever seen, and being in theatre myself I have seen a LOT.
    The actors had a hell of a lot to live up to and they did brilliant. I know people have a pet peeve with Rodney having met Cassandra while grandad was alive in this, but you have to accept that TV shows and musicals are entirely different formats. I.E the TV show spanned about 2 decades, whereas the musical is about 2.5 hours. They had to condense it somehow, even if it meant changing the storylines slightly.

    This was delightful and lots of fun, it'll not compare to the original but it doesn't have too, it is nostalgic and funny and still to a high quality. If you don't try to compare it and enjoy it for what it is, a tribute - then it's class.

    The woman playing Cassandra looks a replica of her in 1989!!!! The rest of the cast were good too however Del Boy could have done with a bit more rehearsal tho and Grandad sounds a bit more like Albert than in the original show.
    Overall tho I'll be honest and say I'd rather watch Jolly Boys outing than go up west for an arm and leg price to watch this. (No pun intended XD)

    So, they've got Del and Rodney in their early episode outfits, with Grandad - but they've also got Uncle Albert and Cassandra, who only joined the show a lot later. That's the sort of mash-up that would be written by someone who is only vaguely familiar with the series.

    I have seen the show, and this is the worst bit, which is basically the beginning. It's too forced and cringey for me, as though they want the audience having a knees up and a sing sing from the start, without any warm up...its really odd and strained.
    .However It really picks up after the opening five minutes, and is funny and touching. I highly recommend for any fans of the show.
