I totally agree with Denise's techniques. When I go swimming at a pool or the ocean, I wear a wig grip under my wig, which is a lace front, and then brush the hair out of my eyes when I get out of the water, just like everyone else does. My kids have checked and told me no wefts were showing. I also went this weekend on a roller coaster with my lace front and wig grip, and it didn't budge, it was firmly in place. I've done trampoline parks as well. Live you lives to the fullest, everyone!
While these are much more complicated to do and take more time, they are definitely very valuable and important. I hope to be able to continue to provide this service to my wig sisters well into the future. It helps that I'm not working outside the home right now and am brainstorming how to use this platform to help support my family and my wig sisters. If this is a needed service then it will come, right? ❤
I’ve been wearing wigs for about 6 yrs. and following a few youtubers that review wigs. Denise I have to thank you because no one has EVER shown us what do do in a pool wearing wigs. Thank you with all my heart for showing us this video!! You are the best ❤️❤️ Angie
Definitely no for human wigs, hair is porous=absorb chlorine and spa chemicals, acrylics won't. Low density:if cap shows while washing nope. Sun:: I recently went to a salon & learned that sun will fade color on both human and acrylic. Human hair can go in for color maintenance acrylic can't. For that reason, dedicate one wig for beach & pool.
Denise I am new to the wig journey. I have been watching your videos and you have helped me so much and given me confidence. My husband shaved my head for me 4 weeks ago since I had got to the point I hated looking at myself in the mirror and I would rush to put a wig on. I love my shaved head and I don't have a problem now looking in the mirror with only my shaved head. I am so happy to find this video on wearing wigs and the pool. I am going on my first vacation next month on a European cruise and have been so concerned about wearing a wig in the pool but guess what YOU have taken that concern away from me. I wear short wigs and feel that I now have the solution and it is because of YOU! You are an amazing person and I thank you for what you do for all of us that wear wigs.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKEING AWAY MY FEARS ON WEARING WIGS AT THE POOL AND ON WHAT KIND OF WIGS ARE BETTER OPTIONS . PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS WITH MORE WIG OPTIONS IF POSSIBLE ALL YOUR INFORMATION AND YOU ARE MUCH APPRECIATED AND NEEDED .
I live in the tropical north of Australia, right beside the Great Barrier Reef, and we fairly often go on day trips to the reef to go snorkelling. I've always worn my bio hair and a hat or swimcap but my alopecia was still obvious. In planning a trip out during the Christmas holidays I've been searching for how to wear my wig swimming and snorkelling in the sea. It's good to hear that the wig band holds it well. Also Patti's Pearls said that the straps on the snorkelling mask can double for holding your wig on. But today I thought of the stinger suits we have to wear in the ocean, zip-up lycra one-piece that covers from neck to wrists to ankles, some come with a hood. But mine hasn't a hood. However I've discovered a separate lycra hood I can buy, so I feel sure it, along with wearing my old wig with the hood and the mask straps on top of it, will not let my wig go ANYWHERE. this protects us not only from the deadly marine jellyfish we have but also from the very severe sun. Patti also said to bring along a good wig in your bag, to put on after you are out of the water, spritzing it with water first and you'll have the best-looking hair of anyone else on the boat. Of course you wouldn't have to cover up that much for your pool or lake swimming. Thanks for all your videos, you are very wonderful!! 🥰
Kathy Herbert said it best….no one else does such “down-to-earth” videos like you. You truly think about your viewers and their needs. By the way, you look terrific in your swimsuit. The weight loss shows and looks good. Thank you for all your hard work on your videos. 🦊
You've broken new ground with this...no one else is giving such down-to-earth (and needed) information. P.S. I LOVE your swimsuit. A bit retro. Kind of like me. Ha
Wow! I honestly did not know this could be done! Haven’t been in a pool in 10 years! Thanks so much for going the extra mile and showing us this is possible. I always figured the wigs would come off and chlorine would ruin them!
Your compassion towards your sisters shows when you do videos for us! We love and appreciate you for going the extra mile. You make us feel that living life to its fullest is possible, even with a wig!!! Love you!
WOW. What an awesome video. Thank you. I have a pool and after Chemo. You just automatically think, Well I can’t swim or do yard work. I can go out for couple hours in a/c and come home 😂
Wyatt with the headband is perfect in the pool. I bought a couple of Paula Young curly wigs that I will wear to the beach when it’s windy specifically to break them in and tame the curl. There’s so much voluminous curl the wefts are completely obscured in wind. From experience I know the weight of long, wet hair can drag the wig back when coming of water, so I wouldn’t go longer than shoulder length if swimming.
VERY, helpful! Who else does these great, practical, everyday life type of wig reviews????......NO ONE! You are such an Angel Of Courage, you put yourself out there for nothing more than the benefit of others. You are AMAZING. A true gift to this community. Love Wyatt on you, your beauty shines through in all you do. Bless you! 💖
Right?! When we bought this house last summer this was one of the first things I did after moving in was film this video! I never had access to a pool before and just knew I had to show everyone how to do this. HUGS!
I am so happy you reached out to all of us wig wearer an showed us that we can live our lives like people with hair …swimming, beach,an so much more. Thank you so much for doing this video 😍
I don't really trust the manufacturer pictures... they often look so different because of the styling they do for photo shots as well as the models they use... models are often small boned and very skinny, NEITHER of what describes me, lol! Different body shapes and sizes can make a wig look completely different on one person vs another.
I had to start wearing wigs because of hair loss about 3 years ago. I thought swimming was over for me. I love the water and i was so sad that i wasnt going to be able to swim. We were planning a trip to Florida and usually we would be in a the water every day so I started doing research on swimming with my wig on. I found the Wiggy women's channel. She showed how she wears a wig grip and pinned the wig to it with Bobby pins. She showed how she swam under water and the wig stayed on. I tried this and went to the Waterpark. I wasn't gentle with it and my wig stayed on. I keep a short wig just for swimming. I enjoy watching your channel to. I am so happy. Thank you for sharing this.
You are just so real and sincere in your reviews. You give women confidence to love and use their hair pieces in so many different everyday ways with a variety of ideas…swimming? Who would have even thought you could do that. Surely, not me. Thank you, thank you! You are an inspiration to so many.
🙂GONE DENISE, YOU DONE TOOK WEARING A WIG TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL!. THATS ALRIGHT, I LOVE IT! WEARING WIGS ARE NO SECRETS ANYMORE. TREAT IT AS IF IT'S YOUR REAL HAIR, NO LIMITATIONS. THANK YOU SO MUCH, LOVE YOUR DETSIL AS WELL.🙂
Thank you so much for all this wonderful info. I've wanted to go to swim parties and always refuse because of the hair issues. Now I need a wig band and a little experimenting and it's all good.
Once again braver than any other reviewer & yes Wyatt looks absolutely great! The second partial w headband looks very sophisticated & so smart…. I would never have known what to do at the pool.. thank you so much… little brave one. 🙏God bless & thank you being so unselfish to show us this❤
Thank you Denise for sharing these tips with us. I never thought I could get into a pool with a wig on and you have given me the confidence to try this soon.
Denise, this is so wonderful. Echoing everyone else, you are the first person to show us a wig in the pool. My biggest concern is having wefts show in the back when first coming out of the water. I have even thought about wearing my wig in the shower so I can look in the mirror to check those wefts. I did wear an older Sky into the pool with a headband like yours with it the cloth hanging over the crown a bit. But I could feel the bangs were clumpy. I didn't try shaking & fluffing them. I will do that next time. Thank you so much for everything you do & I will be praying that somehow this will evolve into a way to help support your family.
Thank you for this video . . . I've never seen a video addressing how to wear a wig in a pool or at the beach !! I will now feel comfortable wearing my wig in the pool and getting it wet. Also, love that swimsuit on you. The color is a perfect compliment to your skin and hair color. You are such an attractive lady.
Amazing, thx Denise. I can hardly believe how that headband wig stayed secure with just a wig grip. Wyatt is great. I've actually seen people with bio hair that responds like Wyatt! They look good right out of the water with a few shakes of their hair. The other ? I have is how wigs act with salt water as in going to the beach. If anyone has experience with that, I'd appreciate the input. Great video. And I love that swim suit!!
Denise you are so cute love the color of your bathing suit. A friend of mine goes scuba diving in her long curly wig and it works just fine When I was on vacation on a tour with a lot of people we got caught in the rain my wig was soaked so was everyone else all I had to do was shake my head and all the curls appeared. It dried fast looked great
What an awesome video, Denise! Thanks for addressing these issues that concern us wig wearers the most. Now that it’s summer again, I’ve always wondered how I could enjoy swimming while still wearing and keeping my wig on. You gave us such great tips today and even though this video is a year old, you can be assured that it’s helping people by being up here on TH-cam. Thank you for your compassion and love. God bless! ❤
You are amazing!! AAAAAMAZING!!! THANK YOU!! I adore Wyatt on you. It’s super flattering and seems to suit your personality. Gosh you make me want a Wyatt just like it so badly! Thanks again for your help. 💕
Wow thank you Denise this is fantastic I'm jn the process of getting a wig I've lost a lot of my hair due to chemotherapy, but knowing this is fantastic to know
Thank you so much! Almost 30 lbs lost since February by eliminating gluten (except a few cheats), not eating out, and reducing stress. Moving helped as it was a very physical few months as well (after having an extremely sedentary desk job prior)
First I want to say you look great I Thank you for going out of your confront zone for us. You are a very special lady! ❤ This really helps us SO much. I have never seen another video like this and we sure did need this. I love Wyatt she's so cute! Excellent video!! Love your pool everything looks beautiful! Have a blessed week.❤
You're such a champ! Sharing your knowledge of wig-wearing seems to come naturally for you. Each of your videos is super helpful and needed, Denise! You look really beautiful! Enjoy your new home! 😊 💕
Aaah, Denise, I just adore you. I’m a man 3 years into my full time wig wearing journey (exclusivly HIM wigs by Hairuwear), and from before I nervously made the wearing jump, until today, you have been such a help, offering such great advice and guidance. As others have commented here-you tackle real world wig wearing issues from adhesion (It Stays!) to swimming. I just made the leap to a little longer styled wig, and I want to make some style changes to it; thanks to you I have the confidence (and the Bissell Steamshot steamer!) to get in there with thinning shears and the steamer and get the changes done. Much gratitude to you, Denise, keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! I just took a peek at your TH-cam channel- we need more men showing alternative hair so other men will have that support so THANK YOU for putting yourself out there!
Toddster, From a wig wearing female, I'm so glad you are wearing wigs. Men are so oppressed by society. They're darned if they do and darned if they don't. Please yourself! You deserve the confidence wigs give those of us who have the nerve and intelligence to wear them. All the best!
Denise you are my favorite. You do down to earth video's, Iv've never seen a water video on wigs and you did such an awesome. I just might wear one now swimming, before this video I wouldn't have dared. THANK YOU so much!!
I have to say you look beautiful with your head shaved! My family tells me the same but am still not secure enough to go out without hair. Thank you for the tips. Very helpful!! Going to look for a 3/4 wig!
OMGosh' I am sooooo excited I found this video. I have been searching for someone, anyone that has made a swim/wig video. I am soooo grateful I found your video. I will go check out the one you mention within this one as well. I haven't checked for links yet but if they are there I will be purchacing this today. Thank you soooo much for making this, it really helps me. I just cant express enough how grateful I am. Thank you for sharing this :)
Thank you Denise for doing this video! I have always been an outdoors and water lover. In the past few years I wore hats at the pool and walking on the beach. This is the first year I’ve had a wig (got her 2 months ago -December) and I’ve been wondering how or if I could wear her in public at the pool or beach. Seeing is believing in this instance. Thanks so much for being transparent for our benefit!
You look wonderful. This is why I love your channel. You give such through reviews. But you go above what others do. Going in the pool has been wonderful information for me and I thank you.
So awesome that you covered this topic. I actually just wear a big floppy hat over my bio hair, but have wondered about swimming with a wig on. I can imagine coming out of the water with a wig is a huge opportunity to feel self-conscious, but honestly, people don't really pay that much attention to what other people are doing (mainly because they're worrying about what others are thinking about them LOL.) Of course, there are "people watchers", but just look at it as you're the star of the show, giving them something to watch LOL 💝
I love you so much Denise! ❤ you are so completely real with us you feel like your best friend that I never knew I had especially when it comes to being a wig sister. So glad you’re enjoying your new pool. It’s beautiful.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I love the pool but wouldn’t have considered going under with my wig. This is awesome!! Thanks so much for demonstrating 😊👍😎
Thank you Denise - you did so much in this one video to encourage me to enjoy the beach and pool and not worry about my hair. I love how honest and REAL you are as you talk to us - I think you would be a fun BFF! And, please share with me what waterproof mascara you are wearing in this video - it worked great.
I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond to your question.... when you asked it I wasn't at home and couldn't remember the mascara, and then this comment got lost in the sea of comments on other videos. Here is the Mascara I was wearing: amzn.to/3vpNYnY It works GREAT in a pool!
Denise, I’m so grateful you have taken it upon yourself to educate and enlighten us about all the aspects and challenges of wig wearing and how to live our best lives even with hair loss. Thank you. I’ve always loved swimming and do laps regularly at my neighborhood pool in the summer. Outside at the pool or at a beach I wear a sun protective hat and a swim cap in the water. I switch those head covers on and off as quickly and discreetly as I can. At the moment I only own 2 wigs so wouldn’t want to expose them to chlorine or salt water although I don’t see myself ever choosing to wear a wig while swimming. For those women who do perhaps you could discuss how doing so affects different wig fibers and what care those wigs might require after swimming in them.
Thank you so much for doing this! Very informative. You look beautiful in either one, and your pool is magnificent! Congratulations on your new home. Hugs and blessings, Shelly
Wow first time I’ve ever seen this done online. Brilliant! She does look great right out of the water! Amazing! Headband wig is a great idea too! Btw that suit looks great on you. Lovely color and design. Your pool is amazing I’m so jelly lol 💜
Thank you, Kim! I love this suit and wish I could find another like it (it is VERY old and never really got worn much until we moved here with a pool).
Thank you! A great video! You look so cute in Wyatt. And I love your halter swimsuit. Congrats on your new pool. We've had one for four years. Best investment ever for family!!🏊♀️🏊♂️
Yes!!! I have been planning to buy some stuff so I can do them here. With my severe joint issues I am really hoping this pool will help. If you have any water aerobics tips I would love to hear them!
This video could not have come at a better time. I'm fairly new to wigs, having lost my hair due to chemo. I was just looking on Amazon this morning for bathing caps and other options for our pool this summer. You also hit the nail on the head regarding swimming with friends who have no issues with thinning hair like I had prior to the chemo. I never felt like I could get my hair wet because there was so much involved in the drying and styling of it. This video has given me hope.
I don’t wear a wig but have a friend that does. I just wanted to say you look STUNNING and so beautiful without your wig. When you took the wig off in the video I was thinking - damn she has a beautiful head - don’t be afraid to shed that wig and be your natural self in the pool!
That’s so good to see! I didn’t think it was possible. Wow! I’m sure the wefts show a little? It was hard to tell but I’d imagine they would? Either way that was amazing no one else has ever done a video about swimming. Thank you!
Thank you, I just saw this and since it is getting to be springtime this information is great as I do trips and go swimming later on. 😊 I do think I would rinse the wig in plain water then use a leave in conditioner afterwards. Just as I have always did a good rinse and use a fabric softener soak on my swimsuits then hang to dry. As a kid and a teenager, I use to have swim caps because we were always in a pool but they seem to have gone out of favor later on. I was born in 61, so that would have been the 60's and 70's.
Does the chlorine hurt the fibers of the wig ??? Barb ❤️ oh u answered I spoke to soon lol I've really been wearing wigs in the pool and lazy River for years ! I just don't wear my good wigs ! when I go under I look as good going under as I do coming up lol ! I wasn't sure over time if chlorine would hurt the fibers but I guess it's all good ❤️
Wow, thank you so much, I don't go to swim where I know people and never in a hotel pool because of my hair loss. I always wear a hat and sit on the side. thanks a bunch
I totally agree with Denise's techniques. When I go swimming at a pool or the ocean, I wear a wig grip under my wig, which is a lace front, and then brush the hair out of my eyes when I get out of the water, just like everyone else does. Real life situations are rarely addressed by wig reviewers even though it's what we most need to see.
While these are much more complicated to do and take more time, they are definitely very valuable and important. YAY! Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you so much for this. I have kept a couple of old short synthetic wigs that I will use for the pool and hot tub from now on. ♥️
Glad it was helpful!
Looking at the Wyatt wig on the Renee of Paris website, it looks so different from yours. I love the way yours looks, even right out of the water.
I don't really trust the manufacturer pictures... they often look so different because of the styling they do for photo shots as well as the models they use... models are often small boned and very skinny, NEITHER of what describes me, lol! Both wigs look very nice and natural.

Love Denise's honesty
I wonder if anyone's ever put a halo beneath a swim cap... Brilliant video!
Bless you, you have opened up an issue that no one ever has, and the head band wig bloody good idea, what a gem, 👍

Wow thank you Denise this is fantastic I'm jn the process of getting a wig I've lost a lot of my hair due to chemotherapy, but knowing this is fantastic to know
Thank you for showing this! Wyatt definitely works for being in a pool.
I agree! Any wig if this length and a similar messy wave will work great!
Thanks Denise. Great video. I must say I get such a kick if I'm caught in the rain wearing a wig...... xx Sandy
Great Video, Denise! Thanks 🧡 Take care - don’t burn on the sun Both wigs did great 👍🏻 mascara held 😆
I always wondered how to enjoy water play and wear my wig. Thank you so much!!! You are an angel.
Denise, you are an inspiration and you look great!

Thank you, Denise! I haven't used my pool in ages even though I am by myself. This is a great idea!!
Maybe it will get you out there more often, who knows? 🧡
@@heywigsister I think it definitely will!!! I don't even like to be home alone without a wig on...
Thanks, Patty! I just try to think of what I want to know as a wig wearer and figure others must, too!
Oh my, I'm absolutely stunned! That's awesome. WOW, I still can't get over it. 💞 You're so funny but when you say "am I in?". I'm answering you 😂😂😂
LOL, thank you!!
Thank you Denise for doing this video! You’re amazing, thinking about us wig wearers that like to swim!💕💕
You're such a champ! Sharing your knowledge of wig-wearing seems to come naturally for you. Each of your videos is super helpful and needed, Denise! You look really beautiful! Enjoy your new home! 😊 💕
You are the best and talk about how brave and confident you are...thank you!...
Thank you so much! Sending you hugs!
Don't be self conscious.. You look great 😁
Thanks for your videos
Wow! Thank you so much for this video. I never saw anyone do this before! It really gives wig wearers so much more freedom in the summer. God bless
Because of you I ordered Wyatt today. I don’t plan on swimming any time soon, but hoping to enjoy her as much as you have☀️🙎🏼♀️💕
OMGosh' I am sooooo excited I found this video.
Really helpful thank you. Never seen any other reviewer do this for us. Keep up the amazing content 🙏
Thanks, Helen! Praying I will be able to!
great demo Denise. I have never seen a wig after a swim before
Thank you Denise for doing this video!
Sorry but my google account lists my husband’s name. 😂
You are so welcome!
You look wonderful. This is why I love your channel. You give such through reviews. But you go above what others do. Going in the pool has been wonderful information for me and I thank you.
Very helpful video.
Thank you so much wigsyster 😉
Wow..that was amazing. Thank you
So awesome that you covered this topic.
LOL that's the attitude!! I definitely understand having anxiety about it at first, but the more we push forward the easier it gets. Hugs!
I love your videos and reviews. You are amazing !
What great information for those sisters dealing with this issue. You've just done another great service to help demystify wig wearing.
🧡❤🧡❤🧡
I love you so much Denise! ❤ you are so completely real with us you feel like your best friend that I never knew I had especially when it comes to being a wig sister. So glad you’re enjoying your new pool. It’s beautiful.
Thank you so so much!!!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I love the pool but wouldn’t have considered going under with my wig. This is awesome!! Thanks so much for demonstrating 😊👍😎
You bet!! I know a lot of times we don't plan to go under, but things happen, lol. Now you know it will be OK!
Thank you so much for the video! Very helpful! 👍❤
I love watching your videos, Denise. And you look great in your swimsuit! Thanks for the tips for swimming with a wig on.
@@heywigsister thanks, I just went out and bought, i was that inspired 😊
You are amazing, Denise! Thank you for real world example!!! Farewell!
Thank you so much for doing this! Very informative. You look beautiful in either one, and your pool is magnificent! Congratulations on your new home.
Hugs and blessings,
Shelly
Great tips for Water Aerobics! Thank you Denise! 👏🏻
Yes!!! I have been planning to buy some stuff so I can do them here. With my severe joint issues I am really hoping this pool will help. If you have any water aerobics tips I would love to hear them!
Denise, you are amazing and so giving. What a wonderful and helpful video. Bless you dear lady!
🥰
This was a great video!! Thx so much !
Excellent tips. 👍🏻
Amazing how could we see how the wig get dried and the shape came back. Thank you so much.
What a great video!! Thank you!
You are simply the best! Thank you for all you do!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much. Love your videos. You have been a great blessing to me.. Thank you. Thank you
I don’t wear a wig but have a friend that does.
Thank you!
No, they didn't! I do think that having a Rooted color helped. They may have shown on an unrooted color.
Good idea about rinsing the wig!! Definitely something to consider.
You are so welcome! I hope you won't have to do that anymore if you don't want to!! HUGS!
Boy Denise, this was great! You’re a champ!
Great video Denise thank you it certainly does help😊
