  • This is the forty-fifth in a series of videos I’m going to produce to document the building of my Trumpeter 1:200 model Titanic. In this episode I cover the following elements:
    - Fitting a switching rectifier to reduce the lighting circuits voltage from battery voltage (13V-11V) down to 11V.
    - Fitting the supporting pillars to A deck.
    If you want to see more regular updates have a look at my Instagram page (same name as the channel). I post photos as I'm building there so you don't have to wait for the videos to be edited!
    List of parts used:
    - Glass Case came from DSC Showcases. Cant recommend enough, great service.

    Good to see a shout-out to Encyclopedia Titanica. Many years ago, I used to be one of the moderators on the Message Board and I was always astounded at the quality of the research and debate that took place. I also made many good friends on the Board.

    Hi Rob, yes the LED's are so small for practical reasons in as much that they must get tucked away in nasty little inaccessible places. That's what worries me with what I will have to face at some point! I will be planning my approach to this aspect very carefully! Your electronics know how does help the novice quite a bit so thank you for that. Regards J

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fiddly little blighters I’d say! I think the best thing with the inaccessible places is to try and make it as modular as possible so you have an element of redundancy.
      I’m cheating a bit since the electronics is my specialism! There are a good few books on hobbyist electronics which are fantastic if you’re in need!
      Keep well,
      Robbie

    Could you take a flat rectangular magnet and lay out all those tiny drill bits? That way you can see them and not worry about dropping the rest while looking for a particular size.

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I do need to get on and organise those drills. It’s one of those jobs I’ve never quite got round to!

    Thanks for the update! By the way you should use off yellow for the funnels once you come to that stage

    • @thernotsoealmackay
      @thernotsoealmackay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always imagined the funnels to be a peach colour, I don't know if I got that from one of the numerous movies or the THG guys that helped Trumpeter with their model. I'm a Titanic novice at best though, so my opinion doesn't really count ^^

      @@thernotsoealmackay off yellow is in a titanic colour pack just so you know and it looks exactly like the titanic funnels

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eh up, I’m still not certain on my funnel colour. I have the TS-77 flat flesh colour but I can’t tell if that will be too peachy or not. I’m hoping to get some of the 3D printed funnels soon so might be able to try out colours on the trumpeter funnels first before I commit to anything

    Could you not put a negative link sequentially to each led to find the faulty one?

    • @TheModelBoatGuy

      You could, just have to be careful to make sure the voltage you put across them isn’t too high

      @@TheModelBoatGuy Have to say, your videos are brilliant! I’m just about to start my build which will be RC but it was your videos which made me want to do it. Are you going to build interior for c d e f and g deck

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not no. They just can’t be seen so I don’t really see the point! Usually I tend to make anything that is visible inside or outside the model, and leave it there. Decks below B deck just can’t be seen so I won’t on this occasion

    • @jurassiclizardlyon643
      @jurassiclizardlyon643 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheModelBoatGuy why not have it so the model is separated in like decks each individual deck but is still al. Connected together

  • @WATTScostumes
    @WATTScostumes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You`ve obviously added a lot of unnecessary detail to the interior. What`s going to happen when one of the furnishings come loose. ?..A rattling piece or pieces in a un-accessible part of the ship would drive me nuts !

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, it is visible if you know where to look!
      WRT coming loose, yes as you say there will inevitably be things coming loose over time as there is on most models. I tend to use more glue on things in hard to see areas to try and limit that as much as possible.
      The decks are all accessible thought, superstructure decks are not glued down, I’ve used threaded inserts (essentially PCB Spencer’s) so I can lift them off to fix things.

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well plastic will last longer I reckon! But paper might be easier to work with. Personally I’d use plastic myself
