  • This is the fifty-second in a series of videos I’m going to produce to document the building of my Trumpeter 1:200 model Titanic. In this episode I cover the following elements:
    - Building the engine casing deck house on the boat deck.
    - Lighting the above.
    - Trying out a new white star buff colour.
    - Painting some 1:200 people.
    - Designing and printing some funnels for my smoke generator on a new 3D printer.
    If you want to see more regular updates have a look at my Instagram page (same name as the channel). I post photos as I'm building there so you don't have to wait for the videos to be edited!

    Hi Robbie, nice mix of interest in that one! Have fun with your printer as that opens up all sorts of possibilities! The wood effect painting is an art in itself and yours looked pretty good. People painting.......yeah, moving on! Sources of working class Sunday best can be seen in many of the old restored 1900's films of events at the time. You could even take some screen shots as a reference. Well done for finding the sitting folks, I will be getting some of those for sure! Great video as usual. Regards JH 😉

    Your model is outstanding! But it’s scary to think of the man hours you are putting into this build and the total number of parts used in building it. Not to mention the fact that you plan to sail the finished model on open water instead of protecting it in a display case! I can’t wait to see the maiden voyage.

    It's really coming on well. I'm glad to see the addition of the 3d printer; do you think there may be an opportunity to fashion some kind of 'funnel and pin' type arrangement to further help guide the decks into place and provide a friction fixing point once there?

    An absolutely excellent choice for the printer. I’m currently working on a 12 model of the Titanic and every single item I designed in cad from very accurate blueprints it has taken me a few months but now the entire boat deck is completed.
    I have five cr10’s and an anycubic photon mono resin printer for my people I went on Hero forge and created my people in several different poses and then I brought them in cad and made five variations of each one.
    Anyway excuse my rambling 🤣 I really really like your channel and gotten a lot of insight on my own build.

On Encyclopedia Titanica the two figures who come to mind who have done excellent research on Edwardian fashions are Randy Bigham and Inger Shiel. Might be worth trying to contact them via the message board on ET?

    I think it would be really cool if you made it so you could sing and as the it would have like water detectors which would shut off the power four sections when it goes under so it looks like it's actually going down but the lights don't get ruined

    Will the movie Titanic be of help when it comes to 3rd class clothing?

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think so, the challenge I have at this scale is making one class look different from another. Because browns and blacks were quite common in first class, but also in third. So making them look different isn’t easy!
      But I will have a look over Titanic to see

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      So this particular building had a shaft that led directly down to the ships engine rooms.
