ruby rose is the main protagonist of rwby. she is a huntress, having been trained at the now-defunct beacon academy. ruby's weapon of choice is her high-caliber sniper-scythe known as crescent rose. ruby first appeared in the "red" trailer visiting the grave of her mother, summer rose. after an invitation from professor ozpin following a short battle with roman torchwick, ruby attends beacon academy in order to become a huntress. during her time at beacon, ruby became a member and the leader of team rwby, consisting of herself, weiss schnee, blake belladonna, and her own elder half-sister, yang xiao long. however, following the fall of beacon, ruby travels to haven academy as a member of team rnjr with the remaining members of team jnpr. after the battle of haven, team rwby is reunited again and they continue to participate in the war against salem and her forces.
din djarin, commonly known as "the mandalorian" or "mando" for short, was a human male mandalorian who worked as a bounty hunter during the new republic era. with his mandalorian armor and distinctive beskar helmet, djarin was both well-equipped and enigmatic-a stranger whose past was shrouded in mystery to others. orphaned during the republic era, he was raised as a foundling by the children of the watch, a cult that had broken off from mainstream mandalorian society. this fact was hidden from djarin, who was taught to believe that all mandalorians followed the children of the watch's beliefs. he was trained to become a mandalorian warrior and eventually joined the tribe, which operated in a secret covert on nevarro and was affiliated with the children of the watch. djarin became battle-hardened, a man of few words, and a formidable hunter in an increasingly dangerous galaxy.

I was kinda anxious about Ruby, as her voice is hard to nail without sounding awkward, but her voice was really good! Loved the beginning of her last verse, even here the tiniest shred of sympathy.
Honestly I was too in the pre production stages of this project but one of my friends got me in touch with Tina and she did a remarkable job bringing Ruby to life :)

I saw your videos a couple of times, and they were good. But this was one of your best ones yet. Juar subscribed because of how good it was from start to finish. While the 3D animation was off on RWBY's part, the editing and pacing made up for it as the rhymes and burns were truly S tier. Tina and Tibbs did amazing with the voice acting, especially Tina because of how she actually sounded like the character herself. Editing was great and amazing to see Freshly Kanal make this. I do have to give the win to Mando because of those hard facts of RT's business burning down like the franchise of RWBY.
Overall, amazing job with the episode and those who helped make this killer rap battle animation. I hope to see more like this matchup in the future. Stay awesome.

The line is more meant to signify how a lot of fans lost interest or started to become more critical of the show after Monty’s passing. I am aware that Kerry and Miles have been on the team since day 1 so I apologize for the poor choice of words

This is a pretty close battle, tbh, and this is coming from a die hard RWBY fan. Also, neither Ruby or Mando can really insult the other;s fan-base because the fandoms for both are equally bad

This is certainly an interesting match up. I'll go against everyone else and say Ruby won, although note I have seen RWBY but not The Mandalorian. I loved this rap battle and so wanted to give a review on each verse.
Verse 1: Mando
Mandalorian's first verse consists mostly of very clever double meanings but the double meaning doesn't per se carry as much weight in the diss ('long wolf will leave you more than a little red' of course referencing red riding hood, but there is more that can be said on the dual meaning her on Little Red Riding Hood). The choppy and blocky flow (not an insult on the writing-it is very fitting for a rugged mercenary) I find makes hard to really feel any burn with this particular style, especially in the 'aanee' rhyme scheme. More than that, some of the 'logic' behind the insults is weird, like mentioning how she should flee because, she looks like a grim reaper? Or like, the hard cutting insults aren't made with the most emphasis (her family fleeing) and then minor insults like Ruby Goldberg machine (why would it be bad she is bad at hand to hand fighting?). A lot of insult against her choice of weaponry made most effective in referencing her sisters disarming but overall, a more piece by piece verse on some ideas. Pretty good but could be more intertwined.
Verse 2: Ruby
But Ruby fires back with probably my favorite line, the disintegration pun because it shows off her character and retorts a large part of Mando's last lines, show her disses on her Ruby Goldberg machine are harmless (who cares about hand to hand fighting?) plus with the RWBY music she will later mention. The next lines to follow drop to be slow to show Ruby building up yet another back to back homophone on 'Ruby Rose' shows not only can she also do the double meaning whilst logically building herself up against Mando, but keep a flow going right into the next line referencing these parts (she showed her prose and her music was shown, so clever!) but then she just keeps going with that momentum insulting constantly against the Star Wars franchise and the universe. And now let's ask-is it more insulting to reference a fandom of minors or a fandom of manchildren? But, Ruby keeps on with it, evidencing it with the fact of them 'canceling Rose'.
And then gah, she keeps going! Goes back in on her scythe fulling proud of her use in it and enters 'battle mode' speak that again shows her ability to show not only her character but abilitie. She references back to the iron referring to the 'physical' aspect and so matches up a hard contrast onto a more personal aspect, on neglect of Baby Yoda, then mentions that logical consequence of that so we can see the issue, reference to Jango Fett. And all with just the emphasis on each diss in the rhyme. It's why I love her verse so much and why despite being much shorter in length I find so much more brutal.
Such a good verse! I'm in love with it. I didn't quite agree with all the repetition at first but I personally love it now. Ruby taking it so far.
Verse 3: Mando
Now, I'm guessing Mando's next verse everyone gives the win to but I don't get it. It goes for very brutal personal accusations against her recklessness and emotionless behavior that as than a watcher, can't really believe as anything else than accusations. It doesn't hit as hard because it's not well elaborated in terms of analogy, contrast, or examples supported in the flow, so it seems like repeated bold claims which aren't effective here for me. Been a while since I've watched RWBY so I'm not sure if that's true or not, point is it's a fairly baseless accusation that could have a lot more bite. And again, goes with blocky flow with perhaps now one too many Rose to the flower puns. Still, it's a fairly brutal and angry shot, one that can easily intimidate. How will Ruby handle this?
Verse 4: Ruby
Ruby... shows off now her other character as a leader in her motivation speak in the beginning (is this a quote from RWBY, it sounds like one). The look into my silver eyes I find a bit weird (is she implying she is better because she has silver eyes? eee i dont like that Ruby!) Ruby's next line does much a similar accusation against Mandalorian, but rather than go full in, refers now more to the plot, although this strikes a weird tone change to the 'seriousness' of their lives as leaders. Resolution-revolution are close rhymes matching her style but the thing is she mixes up entering now a much more back to back rhythmic flow, insulting Mando again and using a *different* RWBY pun, this time on Weiss that shows off a lot better. A final cut on a traumatic event of Mandalorian with such smooth flow, an iconic catchphrase ending following her character to the end. So I overall like this verse too, just not as interweaved as Ruby's first verse.
I didn't give as much talk on Mando's lines because it's harder to describe why something feels it doesn't work against the opponent then to why it does.
But overall, the winner is... Ruby Rose!

I disagree with a lot of what you said, mainly because everything Mando said.. was pretty damn true. Ruby did have some absolutely brutal lines though. Overall, your analysis was very well put together, although a tiny bit biased since you had seen one, and not the other, and then quite obviously sided with what you were more experienced with. Which of course makes sense, but it’s not unbiased at all. Great analysis though, you really know your stuff when it comes to RWBY.

We did a take where he was really monotone like he is in the show but it sounded really boring and not cool over the energetic beat so I decided to sacrifice some of that accuracy to make it sound better

Imma say Mando got the best disses, especially his 2nd verse, but Ruby had better flow, and especially considering how hard it must be rapping with Ruby voice. Totally loved this, very impressive.

Yeah, that bit; how do you say it? "Killed the vibe(?)" For me, I do not even know who they were, except Shapiro, that I have seen a couple of times. The fact that it showed the faces in the video and that there was no come back from the other side make me think it was and insult from the author himself intead of an "in character" insult in the battle.

I gotta give this to the Mandalorian but both sides did real well. I kinda liked Mandalorian's line "This lone wolf will leave you more than a Little Red" since, well, he's a lone wolf, Ruby Rose is like Little Red Riding Hood, and using Roman Torchwick's nickname for Ruby "Little Red", while Ruby did also bring up some points with how the show was initally only known because of the Baby Yoda thing and calling out how murder and violence is IMMEDIATELY the Mandalorian's goto option, saying he's a little TOO quick to go into violence. Also while I'm not too familiar if any songs from the Mandalorian's side have lyrics, the references I picked out ("Red Like Roses" from Mandalorian and "hope your fans are ready for a revolution" from Ruby) are neat. What won it for the Mandalorian for me was his second verse where he calls out Ruby for her constant positivity even when its concerning her friends lives being in danger or even one of them being KILLED and how it makes her come off as uncaring and remorseless. Even though that isn't exactly true, it's definitely how she can come off as at times. Though I love how Ruby starts her verse off by fangirling over his weapon, that is exactly what she'd do-
as someone who loves both shows with all his heart, I feel so much conflict seeing Mando attacking a child, and said child retorting in kind.
