stanley "stan" pines (born june 15, 15 minutes after his twin brother, ford pines), also known as grunkle stan, and formerly under the assumed identity stanford pines, is dipper and mabel pines' great uncle and summer guardian, and a paternal uncle of mr. pines. he is also the tritagonist of the series. after many years of crime and infamy, he has taken up residence in the remote town of gravity falls, oregon, where he exploits local lore and the gullibility of the "dumbest people in the world" to finance himself by running a dubious tourist trap known as the mystery shack. despite his initial claims of skepticism to the supernatural, he is later revealed to be deeply connected with the paranormal and about the town's weird paranormal status, most notably the decades-long operation of an interdimensional portal he used to rescue his twin brother, ford pines.
james morgan "jimmy" mcgill, better known by his business name saul goodman, is a fictional character created by vince gilligan and peter gould and portrayed by bob odenkirk in the television franchise breaking bad. he appears as a major character in breaking bad (2008-2013) and as the titular protagonist of its spin-off better call saul (2015-2022).
saul is a self-centered and unscrupulous albuquerque-based lawyer who embraces his tactics as a former con artist and becomes involved in the city's criminal underworld. in breaking bad, he acts as the consigliere for the methamphetamine cooks walter white (bryan cranston) and jesse pinkman (aaron paul) and plays a crucial role in the development of their drug empire. better call saul's main prequel storyline depicts saul's origins as the earnest lawyer jimmy mcgill and his moral deterioration in the six years before the events of breaking bad; it also features a sequel storyline, where saul is living under the assumed name gene takavic, that explores the consequences of his actions in breaking bad.

Okay, i know that the golf cart line has become a meme a bit due to its repetition being the exact same line, but it's genuinely kind of genius with alternate word definitions.
Starting off, yes, it is a reference to Stan bashing a golf cart into a character multiple times, but we can look at it in other ways too!
"I'll turn my golf cart around and bash you again", as interpreted. Stan is physically hitting Saul with the golf cart after spinning it in a 360 - he wants to directly physically attack.
"Then I'll turn my golf cart around and bash you again". Bash can also mean to verbally insult or roast someone. Even with his golf cart turned around to face him, Stan doesn't NEED to physically hurt Saul more. He's sure he's got the better verbal insults, or "bashes".
Lastly, "Then I'll turn my golf cart around and bash you again", interpreted as turning the golf cart AROUND, AWAY from Saul. He's so confident he doesn't even need to face Saul while delivering these verbal insults. He's certain he's got this in the bag.
I really want to appreciate every layer of that line that's possible, not just the humour. I feel like a lot of people are enjoying it just because "haha funny" and not seeing the additional wordplay possible with it. It's a genuinely well thought out set of repetition with layers.

I'm honestly so surprised that no one has caught on to how Saul is way WAY more aggressive and angry in his second verse, what a nice touch. ( I also just noticed the guitar becoming more rock based )

I like the inclusion of Saul wearing all sorts of different colored suits as he has a ton of randomly colored suits, so that’s some really good research.
Second, Stan literally sounds like his actor, and it works really well.
So yeah, truly the epic matchup
Glad you liked the colored suits! We tried to match the color language that both shows use with the tone that each verse tries to convey (red when trying to intimidate, orange when joking around, blue when trying to appear legal, etc.)

This is a battle that shows sometimes taking the high road isn't worth it. Petty insults and threats won this battle for Stan over Saul's dissection of Stan's character.

If Saul was attempting to go hard, there were much easier things to diss from Stan's backstory: Stan being much less successful than his brother Ford, accidentally ruining Ford's project, getting abandoned and disowned by his father, failing at various businesses, accidentally exiling Ford to another dimension, having to steal Ford's identity, etc.
I disagree. Stan basically spent the entire battle just giving us a recap of the plot of Jimmy's show, which just made me think of how much more interesting Better Call Saul was.

This rap battle is BY FAR my favourite from this series. The visuals are great, the names glitching in the beginning are an extremely clever touch, the lyrics themselves are really thought-through and have many understandable references, saul’s last verse being his confession is extremely underrated, just an incredible rap battle overall. Great work, keep it up Eddie!

This is such a good battle, from the references to the editing. I love how the glitches during Saul’s verses are on beat, and how their “names” at the beginning glitch into their actual names.
Just an amazing rap battle, amazing job
This is a high quality battle. The chord progression in the instrumental fit well, and the way the beat evolves during the video is really tight sonically. As for the bars, I like the way you incorporated the references. One of my favorites (and perhaps the most obvious) was the « …But her aim is getting better! » line. This is why I love Nerdcore, man. You get these references almost nowhere else.

As someone who has Gravity Falls sitting comfortably as my favorite show of all time, the fact you made a rap battle with one of, if not THE best character is amazing. Dennislikesjazz genuinely was a PERFECT choice for a Stan actor and Freeced is great as well! These lines are so hard hitting, Saul didn't win imo but his last couple lines are insane. Stan's disses were absolutely insane, so he won for me (not even bias by the way, I came into this expecting Saul to win, considering there's a lot to diss about Stan). Everything is fucking fantastic. One of your best battles yet!

This battle feels like trying to pick between philosophers. Much like how they all had a point both Stan and Saul had some fire lines.
While not a perfect impression, I quite like this voice for Saul. The cadence was on point.

I've watched this amazing rap battle so many times now and I keep noticing more and more each time, it's amazing!! One of the smallest details I noticed that made me smile was when Stan's "If you wanna talk fishy, buddy you fit the bill" line appears, the word "bill" in the caption text gets all jumbled and glitched. You captured the essence of these characters beautifully, and the voice actors did an amazing job!! Keep making great content

Congrats on the 1 million! This battle deserved it. This channel has become one of my favorites when it comes to fictional character rap battles.
If Stan goes first, then I can see this battle go either way (I know for a fact that you can make close rap battles). But regardless of who wins this, I know this will be a work of art.
Edit: I would love for Tari from SMG4/Meta Runner to make an AvA appearance.
Edit 2: Now that I’ve watched the whole battle, I’m glad me wanting Stan to go first so that the battle could be as close as possible was met. And I know a good amount will disagree with me, but I think Saul Goodman won this (though barely).

Now that I’ve been binging these battles, this is EASILY my favorite. Maybe it’s just bias because I love gravity falls, but the editing and lyrics in this are top notch, and there’s so many references, like lazy Susan, and how the word bill glitches out and goes into a ceaser cipher

May I also say that the voice acting best and editing are fucking amazing. Dennis sounds way too much like Alex Hirsch, and Freeced's voice just fucking vibes on the beat, damn. Favourite battle of the year, not even joking
