Hybrid technology is expensive. But if the gov't wants to push for alternatives to internal combustion engines for cleaner emissions, hybrids should be given more tax exemptions to make it more affordable.
@@marcs4 If it the gov't can continue to decrease that to 30-40% excise tax levels, that would help soften the prices. In the US, the Hybrid CRV has AWD but has not breached the $40k level.

Great review. I'm in NZ & e:HEV RS version is missing so many features (no 360, no lane watch camera, no blind spot, no rear cross traffic alert & no HUD) & is 10k more than top spec RAV which has all the above.
It is only hard to explain (10:50) if you try to explain it as a Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle (ICEV) that has been modified to be more like an EV. What it is, is an EV that is modified to be more like an ICEV. Most of the time, you drive it just like it is a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The only difference is that, instead of just a battery, the electricity comes from the combination of a battery and an ICE-driven generator. The driver has no need to worry about what combination. The ICE will almost always run at its most efficient rpm *_and_* *_load._* It is over 40% efficient there, while a typical ICEV averages maybe 25%. The down-side of this - and it isn't as much of a down-side as some will make it out to be - is that converting from mechanical power, to electrical power, and then back will add additional losses. While this might drop the "final" efficiency to, say, 35%? An automatic transmission is only a little better, and a CVT is worse. But to avoid that, at highway speeds where a normal transmission would stay in a single gear, the system will "switch" to having the ICE drive the wheels directly. There is no gearbox, the system uses that same single gear. And no, the driver does not have to concern himself with any of this, it is all done seamlessly in the background. And the seamlessness causes some misconceptions. When the generator is in use, it powers the motor _first,_ and only the excess power charges the battery. Engine Drive mode is not used for accelerating, it is used for cruising.
The lower part of the bumper is different than the ones in the US. I prefer this one over the US variant. Plus , PH still gets the foglights while the US doesn't have it even as an accessory. Also , the color matched body moldings are a win.
Awesome review! What's the combined system output in the PH model? In the US, it is 204 HP only (181 HP AC synchronous motor, 145 HP 2.0 ICE motor, and 161 HP generator motor). Edit: Ah ok, 204 HP din pala. Nice.
I noticed that the sunshade was open during the time of filming. If they were open during the review period, that might be the reason why NVH was loud. The 2024 CRV supposedly has sound insulating glass, extra insulation on the wheels and doors, active noise cancellation from the speaker system.
Great review and love the summary in text form. I was surprised that you mentioned sound insulation was not up to expectations. I read the glass windows are double glazed ?
Price is slightly lower than the Toyota RAV4 HEV so it's par for the course. If you factor in the features and ride quality, the CR-V seems to have stepped up to Accord level, where it was once the Civic's SUV twin. (Btw the new Civic has also grown quite a bit so it probably sits where the old Accords used to be, and the Accord may now sit higher).
Mazda CX-60 takes the absolute win against this trim of CR-V much more comfortable, quiter, luxurious , good looking. Its just that the Mazda is expensive. I've also asked other people on other parts of the world where CX 60 and this CR-V are available they prefer the Mazda but they also state that the CR-V is far from being the CX-60's competitor

the USB A data port isn't really "odd" as most people would have a cable with USB A at one end USB C on the other cause that's the cable that comes with your phone charger, If the data port required a USB C then that would mean you'll need a special cable that have USB C at both ends
USB C delivers higher power (100 watts at up to 20 volts) than USB A (2.5 watts at 5 volts), so it's better for charging. I wonder whether the CR-V's USB C can even power a hub so that you can connect many devices simultaneously. Also, charge a laptop?
Hi, Good Review, Appreciate it. They don’t have a black color for now, are we expecting a black version later? The Honda salesman to close the sale now, says they will never have a black version here in the Philippines, which is unbelievable? Please find out from Honda Philippines, what is the truth? Thank you and God bless.
The hybrid battery pack emits gasses. Is there a tube that when it off gasses sends the fumes out of the vehicle? I think it was a flaw seen by firefighters in the US that had to deal with ev battery associated explosions taking place on a popular EV/ hybrid American brand off road vehicle. The said flaw contributed to explosions that was due to off gassing from the battery pack being vented accumulating inside the cabin and not being piped and sent outside of the car.
Even though how good the car, if it's so expensive then it's not effective nobody will buy it, only those who can afford it. The Car manufacturers should build cars that are more efficient and affordable, anyway they change car models every year...

would prolly be brought in the coming years, hopefully they do.
awd for light offroad and hybrid hot dammmmmm
definitely they would. It is part of their marketing strategy. @@wetlettuce8215
Right. The price tag would be better justified if this was AWD (just as the US version has). It is the top spec, so why not put all the features in?

It's frequently mentioned that the CR-V has a Volvo-like rear end. Now I wonder who actually did the vertical taillights first: Volvo or Honda?
neither of them, it was used in design by a grade 1 student, sad to say that person is just an ordinary citizen living in the countryside
Does the road noise lessens when the moonroof cover closed or is it the same level with the AWD.

The RAV4 also has the lower trim XLE at 2.25m which is also an HEV. But I guess if you're looking to compete with this CR-V, the LTD is more on par.
Rav4 recently had massive price decrease. LTD is now priced the same as the VX Turbo, while XLE just a bit over 2M. Really good price point for Toyota

It's a little too close in price to a cx 60. If your shopping in that price range the difference is minimal.
