Good to see you wearing a mask pulling out the mouse nests, Dalton at Pole Barn Garage wound up in the hospital with a virus from cleaning out mouse and rats nest from a vehicle without wearing a mask.
Way too often I see these car channel guys not taking care of their health and safety when working on vehicles old and new. Airborne viruses are no joke and can kill. Anytime there is dust or particles floating in the air, PPE gear should be worn. Brake dust lodged in the lungs, chemicals can be absorbed into your bloodstream through the skin can cause cancer etc. Always remember, safety first.
My first car was a 71 Duster with a 318 I bought for a few hundred bucks from my girlfriends dad in 1979. What a great car. Drove it until the wheels fell off, bought new wheels and sold it to a buddy.
Stay Tuned recently did a turbo on a slant six in a dodge pickup, worked out great! btw….best to wear eye protection when under a rusty car dropping a gas tank for example…..only get one set of eyes
I remember back in the day that Mopar 225ci slant sixes were decent performers for what they were. You used to be able to get a lot of performance enhancing parts for them as I remember. Really turning out great looking considering how inexpensively you are getting things done. Kinda makes me want one!
Hats off to you guys for going with the turbo ! So much more interesting than an engine swap. My 1973 duster is a slant six too. If I had a dollar for every time some guy said , ‘you should swap in a v8’ I’d have a tall stack of money. I will probably leave mine alone. Gonna keep it the way god and Detroit built it.
The car looked okay at the start, but now, it's an absolute beast now. It looks completely different, especially with the grille being replaced, giving its iconic 'face' again. What a transformation!
I like that you call it forgotten and neglected instead of abandoned.... abandoned is the most overused word on TH-cam. The old Duster is looking great for it's age. Thanks for the video.
The old Duster looks awesome with the black hood and orange wheels. I can't wait to see what the turbo does to it! I'm glad y'all didn't pull the slant six.
love your videos - although i have trouble telling which is you and which is your dad :) love this car too! extremely rare here in AU. with that crack in your grill - to stop cracks from "growing" you normally drill a hole at the end to stop it dead. also i'm not a paint guy either but would definately recommend a ceramic coat on the old bird. its certainly come up an absolute treat and ; has survived well given its 3 years older than me :)
Try using a P2000 sanding paper instead of P1000. It’s finer grit so should hopefully leave less scratches. Also keep the paper/disk flat to avoid digging into the paint. Love your stuff genuinely great entertainment!👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Just goes to show you that any car cleaned up looks so much better. I used to like detailing my cars when I was younger. I'd spend a whole day on it. We had mostly Mopars in our family and a few of them were A bodies with both the slant six and 318. Great cars. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next segment.
Awesome car!!! I just bought a 71 3 weeks ago Drug it out of a old salvage yard. Been off the road for 30yrs! Can't wait to get it on the road again!! Keep up the good work! Love watching your videos
Absolutely love to see you work together. Try using adhesive remover with lower rpm. Too much heat may damage paint coat, just a tip for future projects. Keep up the good work!
I love watching these classic muscle cars being saved from the crusher. I truly enjoy seeing the relationship you have with your dad, and making these videos together.
This brought back a lot of old memories for me. I graduated High School in the early 70's and just about every kid had one of these cars! So it was nice to see that your brought it back to life! Will keep watching to see what else you do to it to make it pop!!!
My Grandfather’s first car was a 1972 Duster with the 225 slant six. During the late seventies he put a.275 duration cam in it along with long tube headers and a limited slip rear end with 3.73 gears. As well as a much larger carburetor!
no ceramic but WELL WORTH the investment in touchup paint. Get a pint of single stage and an air brush. EDIT I did not see you do it but it looks like you did spray some damage areas around the trunk...nice!!
Definitely preserve your work by doing ceramic coating. The technology is improving and getting more reasonably priced. Go for it. And yes to dog dish hubcaps, and Hell YES to that turbo!!
@@juanpabloflores8179They referred to it as a Dodge, there were three during the lifespan of the show, but they were actually Plymouth Dusters. A blue one first, then a gold one, and finally red.
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ my mother had a 74 Gold Duster with the alligator vinyl top and the fold down rear seat. Yes it was a 225 underpowered turkey 🦃 that's comparing it to my father's 71 Buick wildcat with a 455, and my grandfather is 63 Impala with a 409. With that said I suppose the duster turned out to be dependable cuz they get rid of it at 316,000 mi. Your duster is surprisingly rust free considering how badly mopars rust. You guys are doing an awesome job ✌️🇺🇲
Great job sprucing up the car, she looks nice. Get the Duster side and rear stripes with the duster logo. A 3 or 4 speed manual would be nice if you can find for a reasonable price. Some Cragar or factory Mopar Ralleye wheels would make it pop. Usually the small bolt pattern Ralleye wheels can be had for a reasonable price.
turbo 6 will be cool on this. I'd also like to see a manual trans and toss some bucket seats into the interior. if you could find a center console that fit... sweet!
When are you going to do an update on the fire damaged Buick Electra 225? That is one beautiful car!! P.S. I really enjoy your videos and it's great to see you and Dad working so well together,
I think the color is GO-MANGO, if it is metallic, looks good guys 👍, beautiful color, needs a set of Cragar's to offset that decent looking paint! Just my opinion, looks great for what it came from!
I was SO hoping you would choose to turbocharge the six... and I am SO pleased that you did not let me down! I am really looking forward to seeing how you do it. Tony Angelo just did a Turbo build on a slant-six on his Stay Tuned channel. If yours turns out like his, that duster will smoke tires, for sure!
I love the decision to wrap the hood, the paint really makes it pop. I think it would look pretty mean if it had the black stripes down the sides like the 340 dusters had. Also can't wait for the turbo install!
I love your channel and all the projects you guys work on. I see you regularly wash and detail cars in the sun, but I have a question: Why don't you guys purchase a 10' x 20' heavy-duty car canopy you can place right outside the shop? That way, you can still wash and detail cars outside while staying out of the hot sun and close to the shop.
Great job on the seventy one duster.. You guys made it look really good When you buffet it out and fixed the hood.. Great videos. Great job, I think the Turbo will be great for the Car.. Maybe a set of 3:55 gears would be good too. Great job great videos. Until I see you guys in the next video putting the Turbo on...👍🙏I had a 1974 360 dodge dart sport Space package in 1980's It ran 13.00 In the quarter mile at 106.65 mph.. Again, nice car. I like to see you guys finish that interior headliner and all boy that dashboard is bad. But yeah unbelievable job turning that pain around. I would get some black hubcaps that would match the hood

Dalton smokes heavy too...so....best wishes to him tho...but really...
@59vaughn Yep, his respiratory system was already challenged with that and now the infection. Hoping he'll feel better soon.
Junta Virus? He never said. I wish he would quit for himself, Jess, and JD.

I've never seen a slant six with a turbo. I am looking forward to that. This one is really cool and fun.
Love to see that thing with a turbo. Great video as always. The 6 cylinder cars must be saved.
Your dad standing over there like he really don't want to wet sand today . Funny .

Love this duster. Good plan on the turbo for that straight 6. Great project
Finds some Cragar SS wheels. Completes the 70s look.

Thanks for another , Brothers !

The paint turned out great for what it was. Can’t wait to see how the turbo install turns out!
I know the factory loved to do an off color on the hood but I think the cars look better when you paint he cowl the same color as the hood.
Absolutely. The upper cowl panel needs to be black.
