I really hope you all enjoy the Power Wagon Rescue!! 😃 I wanted to give a bit more background. I was told the truck was purchased from a neighbor. He was asked to drive it over and park it in, what was then, the front yard. We found some pieces of an old For Sale sign that coincide with this. With nearly 100 other vehicles on this property (including the Galaxie XL), I suppose one could justify not driving it again. Many of the dents, not from current tree growth, appear to be from being hit while logging the land in the past. Sadly easy to get to items (bumper, radiator, tailgate) have been picked off by passerby’s. We’re really excited for this one and to take it to the next step! Definitely need to do some trailing!
I'm a Ford guy but I've always loved the old Dodge trucks of this gen. My dad had one that was orange with a white camper shell, and I remember it even when I was only a toddler. Thanks for the memory refresher!
As a Brit who enjoys tinkering with old machinery, respect to American engineers of the old days. Astounding that you can leave a vehicle in the woods for half a century and with minimal preparation, fire the darn thing up and have it idling. Nuts. Enjoyed this guys.
Runs great for just new plugs, fuel pump and starter! Make a good woods truck or winter beater! Glad you all pulled from woods after 41 years and revived it!😊
I'm a new subscriber from southern NJ and really enjoy your videos. I never thought I would find myself watching both of you for 47 minutes bringing an old Dodge back from death and finding it so relaxing and rewarding to see the results. Enjoy the time together as father and son. My father passed almost 10 years ago and miss him terribly.
You should DEFINITELY check out his Porsche build that he got from one of our local junkyards if you haven't already! I know I saw that thing there for 10-15 years before Michael got it!
This truck would be a pretty sharp runner with a little more love. I'd love to see it. You guys do it right with your revivals. Keep doing what you do!
Just about the time that I think you guys have met your match, you go and blow me out of the water!!!! 41 years sitting in the woods, and you get that truck to start, run and drive down the road!!!! AMAZING!!!
I love how excited you get when one fires off for the first time. Also, you said it was "kind of self-healing". The last Chrysler product I heard about that did that was a '58 Fury, and we all know how that worked out. Be careful.... Looking forward to the next episode. By the way. I have been a long-time fan and have learned an incredible amount about cars from watching. I would love to find one of these old relics and try my hand at getting it to run. You guys are the most entertaining car guys on TH-cam!
My father in law had one of these as a cow-chaser @ the farm in North Dakota. When a cow got through the fence it was the go-to to round them up. Needless to say, the truck took a beating but kept on going. It finally died but only after a long and productive career. Keep up the great work!!
41 yrs that truck was just waisting away in the woods and now u brought that beast back to life again! Can't wait to see the next video and the process you use to pull those big dents out. New paint or just a clear coat over the old stuff.
Hello From Kentucky. Back when I started at the equipment repair facility with the highway department in 1991, The crew that sprayed the highway right of way had two of the 3/4 ton Dodge Power Wagons that would go anywhere I believe. I know those trucks had V8 engines and I believe the 4 speed manual transmissions as well as the 4wd shifter next to the gearshift. Those were the days before the 4wd trucks were so plentiful in which the vast majority of the pickup trucks were the 1/2 ton 2wd Dodge trucks with the Slant 6 inline engines and mostly automatic transmissions although we did have a few with the 4 speed transmissions. The government fleet vehicles as a rule were extremely “Plain Jane” with pretty much just the heater and that was pretty much it.
@@brucedk2181 Can’t imagine parking a 9 year old truck like this! The crisp gauges and nearly perfect pedal pads, look the part. The rest of the truck has seen some things thru the years though 😅 Can’t wait to share more!
My Dad bought a 1975 when they came out brand new. He loved that truck. We put it threw hell. Hauled shingles that we took off a 3 store building 85 miles just to dump them. We drove it 5 days a week 85 miles and back. Building house's caring lumber. And everything else. I pound of y'all. Please keep up the great work. Stay close. Thanks for the video.
My Dad bought a brand new '75 W-100 SWB Club Cab 440/727. It went everywhere, hauled like a 1 ton. It SHOULDN'T have been able to do the stuff it DID.😊
As far as the automotive TH-cam channels I watch, I have to say this would be the one I would emulate if I had the abiltiy/time to work on old cars. I really enjoy that you guys take the time to bring it back to your shop before trying to get it to run and actually make it safe before driving it around others. I really enjoy the thorough work you and your Dad put in to these revivals and look forward to more on this and other builds! Awesome work!
Currently rebuilding a 78 club cab long bed 4x4 power wagon with a 440. Awesome trucks. Great job getting it running and driving. Wish there were more power wagons being brought back to life.

Those old 318's are gutless at 175-190 HP. I would throw a cheap 4 barrell intake and carb to spice it up. Cool truck in great original condition for it's age!

Every time I see one of these Dodge trucks I think of my brother-in-law. He's had so many of these 4x4 short and regular beds (even today has a 60's 4x4 Dodge panel truck) that he's given grandsons/son (and wishes he hadn't lol). Remember fun times in them (he's the type that made his own trails if you know what I mean) too. My sister was always right there too (they still adventure in the hills now in the Mega cab)! Didn't have any doubt you and your Dad would fail on this one. Little more work and cleaning of the interior you'll be more in love.
I love watching you guys, your enthusiasm is contagious for these old cars. Can't wait for the next episode. Keep up the great work best wishes from the UK.

Drove a 68 or 69 Power Wagon 1 ton tow truck with Holmes 440 and a 383ci quad under the hood for extra university cash in the late 70's. Loved that truck, power and torque was unbelievable.
I grew up on the opposite side of South Carolina from y'all - Lowcountry. Growing up we called Dodge trucks of this vintage "pasture trucks" because when they wore out or just stopped working, farmers would just park them in their pastures because they knew they couldn't sell them or trade them in. Woods aren't pastures but I'm getting the same vibe from this one. That being said, you and your dad take the same thorough, methodical and common sense approach to your rescues and I have every idea that you'll get this one in good enough shape that someone will have fun driving it. Looking forward to following along on yet another successful Budget Build.
This is similar to what I've been working on for 8 years ,,a beautiful 69 Dart I dug out of a hole after sitting 35 years ,,today my Dart is a bad whamma jamma but I had to rebuild her entirely,,great job rescuing that old power wagon !

Good tip for stubborn spark plugs in an iron head: Don't be afraid to use a torch on them and get them warm, as long as you concentrate the heat on the plug, you'll break them free every time.
I'm a Mopar and patina guy personally. I owned an 87 Ramcharger so I have a soft spot for old Dodge 4x4's. I thought it was going to be super rough until you put air in the tires but I love the way it looks with the dents old crusty looking tires and dirt everywhere.

Great job getting it running. My first vehicle was a '77 318 2 Barrell van and that motor looked very familiar as I replaced the alternator, water pump, timing chain, lifters, starter while I had it but so hard to believe I was only 19 -20 yrs old when I done all that. I had a glass pack on mine sounded sooo good. I wouldn't have the patience to do all that nowa days. I also had put Direct connection chrome valve covers on mine to fancy it up a bit.

Watched many videos like this but never thought about an important item needed until it was mentioned: 🔑 There’s something like a ‘66 Dodge Dart parked behind the large shed in the backyard of the house I’ve been renting since July. No glass (all broken) more rust than paint and can’t get to the front for all the brambles. Never thought about looking for a key, pretty sure the owners tossed it or have it in a dusty jar somewhere. Sure you can jump these heaps, but having an ignition key saves a lot of extra work.
Hello from France. I have a fondness for old faithful mules like those pick up trucks. I don't care if they are worth close to nothing. A vehicle that can transport you & can be a work tool is priceless to me.
A tip on dodges like this is the transmission pumps don't pump in park, that's why it didn't blow fluid everywhere running without the cooler hooked up. Id recommend idling in neutral for a few minutes. That's why it wouldn't move when you first went from park to gear.
Just great trucks.my first pick up here in England was a dodge 1977 D200, 318 was toast ,727 was fubar,40 years on she runs a 360 fresh trans I rebuilt and I still got her, as I worked on it friends came by and told me of an ex military 1978 4x4,I dropped the rusted out cab and shortened bed on to a unimog chassis and used CUMMINS power, be great to see yours come together, I love these trucks.
Many Power Wagon guys don’t consider the 5 lug Wagons to be “real” Power Wagons, but I’m here to say that is one nice old truck! Glad to see it get some care. My old man had a 1947 WDX Power Wagon and a 1954 Wagon. My uncle has a 1968 3/4 ton Wagon and I have a 2017 Wagon. Sadly, I recently had to sell my 1952 M37. I will miss that one! 😂

There’s something like a ‘66 Dodge Dart parked behind the large shed in the backyard of the house I’ve been renting since July. No glass (all broken) more rust than paint and can’t get to the front for all the brambles.
Never thought about looking for a key, pretty sure the owners tossed it or have it in a dusty jar somewhere. Sure you can jump these heaps, but having an ignition key saves a lot of extra work.
The background sounds to this video are Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Other old farts out there, like myself, will get that reference.
I love to see this kind of saving
This USA History!
Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱👍🇺🇲
Hello from France. I have a fondness for old faithful mules like those pick up trucks.
I don't care if they are worth close to nothing. A vehicle that can transport you & can be a work tool is priceless to me.
I love it when a plan comes together. " Awesome truck" !!! Nice
I love watching what you folks do. You make me smile and remember days of vehicles gone by. Thank you.
That 318 is a strong engine used since early 1960's. Got one in my 1983 Cordoba and it's a great engine.
Early 60s was a Poly 318 not an LA 318
A tip on dodges like this is the transmission pumps don't pump in park, that's why it didn't blow fluid everywhere running without the cooler hooked up. Id recommend idling in neutral for a few minutes. That's why it wouldn't move when you first went from park to gear.
I'm definitely looking forward to your next video of this Dodge. ❤️
