I'm a university student from Korea and I'm currently in Spain on exchange. Since my taste in food is almost like the definition of Korean cuisine(I like my food super spicy, garlicky and with sesame oil), recently I've been craving Korean food like crazy. 망치's recipes are original, easy to follow, and she uses ingredients that are relatively easy to find outside of Korea. Yes! I can't count how many times I saw a so called chef/cook cross contaminate from not washing their hands after handling raw meat, chicken etc...it may have bn "just a t.v. show & staged " but still 🤢

Maangchi for your fried chicken recipes, you use potato starch. I don’t have that in my kitchen and I didn’t find it at my near grocery store either. So, can I use corn starch instead?

I made this and it was good, but I had double the chicken so I doubled the sauce ingredients and they literally came out caramelized lol still god just too sweet! All I would say is when making the sauce definitely don’t add double, just add the chicken in different batches if you have more, you had more of a light coat mine was thick

@maangchi I have made it twice and it tastes sooo good!! I soaked the chicken wings in buttermilk overnight so it was really softer. IDK y when I make recipes from your channel its perfect but other channels they turn out different even the kimchi I made it tasted like kimchi when I made from your recipe but not the other Korean channel all I can say is thank you for sharing your learning and recipes you have mastered throughout your life
I did this but used garlic powder instead of garlic, and margerine instead of butter (i ran out of both ingredients after I prepped everything). And it tasted phenomenal! Easily the best chicken i've ever made! Doing it again tomorrow.

This is my first recipe I tried of yours and I must say, It really IS sweet, buttery, crunchy and irresistible just as you said, and maybe even MORE. I have tried many recipes online, cooking shows and from cookbooks and many have failed, but this one, this one was just PERFECT, so simple yet so delicious. I love the mix of sweet from the sugar and honey and a little savory from the garlic and soy sauce. It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I made it for my little sister and she LOVED it! I'm having the chicken with a side of fries while watching more of your videos! I will definitely try more of your recipes.

Maangchi for your fried chicken recipes, you use potato starch. I don’t have that in my kitchen and I didn’t find it at my near grocery store either. So, can I use corn starch instead?

I made this and it was good, but I had double the chicken so I doubled the sauce ingredients and they literally came out caramelized lol still god just too sweet! All I would say is when making the sauce definitely don’t add double, just add the chicken in different batches if you have more, you had more of a light coat mine was thick

I did this but used garlic powder instead of garlic, and margerine instead of butter (i ran out of both ingredients after I prepped everything). And it tasted phenomenal! Easily the best chicken i've ever made! Doing it again tomorrow.

Made this tonight. I used corn starch in place of the potato starch. Very crispy & crunchy! Double fry method is the only way to go. The sauce was thick & sticky. Yummy! I found it a lot like honey garlic sauce, just stickier. Delicious. Definitely a keeper. Thank you for the recipe & video. 🌹😊🇨🇦
