Skinning the pith off of lemon peel is necessary because it’s incredibly bitter when cooked
Z E S T
Chairman Meow can‘t you just scratch it off? I mean... I would like to cook this recipe but I can‘t even cut the peel from the lemon properly so how can I be able to peel the peeled peel from the lemon? :(
You can probably scrape it off with a grapefruit spoon or something similar, but you gotta make sure it's all gone or it'll be really bitter when it gets cooked.
@@Preez_Gsus you can use grater for lemon's outside without cutting. It will be same aroma I guess, but this seems more presentational...

Hi there,
If you do not mind me sharing; a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please take some steamed carrots, plant them and see if they will grow; if not, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot benefit one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity.
Regarding the whole protein concern for vegans is exaggerated from gathered information especially that there are 'high protein' plant food sources e.g nuts and legumes; People showing signs of deficiencies e.g those showing signs of anorexia, actually need plant food sources such as starchy carbohydrates that help with weight gain than protein.
I highly encourage being a sceptic, research things for yourself, and you will find out that the diet shared with you is actually for your own good (even if it means making small changes here and there, i would encourage) e.g processed meats are classified as carcinogenic to humans in Group 1, which is as bad as it can get, where as plant foods are classified as anti-cancer foods.
Please avoid factory produced meat alternatives whose chief ingredient can be 'soy' and may contain preservatives as well as additives (e.g vinegar, a corrosive agent). Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.

Agreed.
No, it isn't. I've worked as a cook long enough to understand that this is very doable. Just make sure your knife is sharp enough and roll with it. Try it out. You don't need a knife like the guy in the video has, just a regular chefs knife, preferably a bit thinner, is perfect. You can do this! Now go out to the store, buy the ingredients and make this.

From someone who actually made the lemon chicken recipe: it's the best lemon chicken I've ever had, and it wasn't that hard to make! For the lemon peel, the trick is to use a really sharp knife and keep your palm open so you don't hurt yourself, and go slowly but confidently. Avoid excess sawing motions, and try to just scrape layers a little at a time until you're at the yellow peel. It's worth the patience!
Thank you for the feedback! Glad to hear the lemon chicken recipe turned out great for you. 😊

A lot of Chinese "restaurants" in western countries are run by people who are NOT professional chefs. They're immigrants who for whatever reason couldn't get jobs in their original professions so just opened a restaurant because it's an easy way to make money even fi you can't speak the local language. In this video one guy said his dad was a carpenter back in China... th-cam.com/video/Ii9o8B_9sXo/w-d-xo.html
Pro tip: if you want real Chinese food but aren't familiar with it, look for the places that have large groups of east-Asian-looking customers who've ordered a bunch of stuff and look like they're enjoying themselves. And I'm saying this as a Chinese Malaysian person who lived in the USA 12 years and South Africa 5 years.

Man, you've never worked in one have you 😂.
At best, I'd correct you with the job as the most accessible to the migrants but certainly not the easiest.
Oh man, how far from the truth you are... Most kitchens I've worked at, you'll always find a worker or 2 which can carve flowers out of beetroots or even make a buddhist fruit figure out of a melon but the truth of the matter is, most people don't want to pay for quality, at the very least not often where these takeaways are opened.
You'd be very surprised what the average wok chef can do in a simple chinese takeout. You'd cry abuse just working in it's kitchen for a day 😄

Chef John makes every dish look 5 stars. 👍
Chef, not only is this easy and I'll be trying it this coming week but your videos are also relaxing.
The way he cooks is a visual treat!!!😍😍 Really enjoyed it
The art of cooking. I’ve never seen cooking look this good.
Love the content! Just a lil feedback.. I would totally love to hear the sound of the chef cooking. I believe it would be satisfying. I do like the background music too. But yeah good vid
If I fall asleep, it’s not because I wasn’t focused,,, it’s just the song was sooo tranquil and soft
So no one gonna talk about how he literally dipped his fingers in 200 degree oil?
Heat to 200 degrees. Pop fingers in to check it's hot. 😨
Cooks are used to heat.
I'm wathing this high and I was like: "Yup, I just saw that."
@@elisemorley9956 yo they might be used to heat, but i swear they not used to burning theit fingers on purpose XD

Chef! Thanks SO much for this video. This is one of my favorite dishes. I haven't had it in a long time because most places I get that don't make it right. But after I watched your video, I was like, wow, I can do that. The first time I did it, it was good except it should have been a little sweeter. I made it again the next day and it was superb! My other favorite Chinese dish is the General Tso chicken. I saw your recipe for that. I was like, wow, he makes it look so simple. I can do that! That's my project for the next weekend. So again, thank you so much. You are a great chef!!!!
When he shaved that lemon skin a third time I freaked tf out 😂😂😭
