I would start looking for a new place and move if you find one of course keeping all the documentation and demanding in writing a resolution or letting you out of the lease. That way if they try and go after you once your gone you have all your proof in order. No freakin way would I live like that.

Hi, Tisha... new subscriber.. : ) About your apartment updates - - I think your apartment will feel cozy with an area rug in the living room - - this would also give a focus & distinction between the kitchen & the living room : ) Also, agreed, a slightly different lay out would look good in the living room - - right now, it looks a little like a big square with everything pushed against the wall. So, possibly an area rug, different furniture placement & some pictures or simple art work on the walls would add a nice touch to your living room.

Oh, also, I have a space saving idea for your dish rack / drying dishes!! Have you seen the hanging dish racks? They go up on the wall and the dishes drip over the sink, without taking up any counter space at all..... so, you'd just wash & let them drip dry above the sink. : )
I'd keep the floor lamp.... you could put it in the corner where there isn't much right now.... I like the ambient, warmer tones in lighting - - very calming and also helps if you get headaches.
I'm glad the bug problem is getting better! I'd be traumatized, too! I was traumatized by huge, black carpenter ants - - so, roaches would put me over the edge..... lol..... ; )........ I think there are essential oils you can spray at the baseboards that will help, too.

Apartment updates: Yes!! area rug is a must. Since I couldn't figure out the layout, I wasn't sure how big of an area rug I should get. I will eventually start looking for artworks too. I agree with you on all the three points :)). Right now it just looks like a big square.
Dish rack/drying dishes: Initially I bought the hanging on from Amazon but had to return it. When I used the stud finder, it didnt work out (both kitchen sink wall and the one opposite to the fridge).
Floor lamp: I love the lamp. Hoping it work outs with whatever the new layout 🤞
Bug problem: I am scarred for life 😅

So nice you say that some Friday’s are spent at home - I sign off at 5pm Friday and flop on the couch with takeaway often too and that’s perfectly ok. Life is what makes you feel at peace ❤

Hey Laura, thank you ♥️. I am going to do my best to keep it. When I was selling all my furniture via FB marketplace (before the move), I didn’t list the floor lamp. I love it so much!
The floor lamp is so unusual and unique.
Consider breaking your lease for a pest free apartment. They failed to provide a clean apartment.
Thank you for your suggestions. My sister was recommending the same as well. I have decided to send an email with all the photos/videos and list all the issues. I am planning to ask for a rent reduction. If the issue continues, I will definitely consider breaking my lease.

When I lived in the Bronx I also had a roach problem. What helped was not opening up the windows. Because of how the buildings are close to each other, you could be getting roaches that come from someone else’s apt.
That was one the main reasons why I wanted to install temporary mesh screens. Hopefully it helps with keeping away roaches, rats (I live on the first floor and it’s street facing) and ventilation 🤞🏽. Thank you Nilka 💗

Those screens were a clever idea, I love having fresh air in my apartment when the weather permits. I do think you're trying different placement for the furniture is a good idea. Hope you keep the lamp, looks great in there.
I really needed to ventilate the apartment properly. So happy that the mesh screens worked out. I do think I need to replace the mesh in few months. It is not that sturdy. Yeah the current setup is just not it. I love that floor lamp. Someone wanted to buy it when i was selling all my furniture but I held on to it. Hopefully it will work with the new apartment 🤞

TL; dr: Ive had a cockroach problem, maybe check your sinks?
My old apartment building had a cockroach problem. It was one of those luxury buildings where I didn’t expect for this to be an issue. I only saw like 5 (on my stuff, there was others the exterminator caught) total during the 15 month lease. Mind you, I naturally try to keep everything clean and food properly stored because I have had ants in the past. Once I saw that first cockroach I went overboard on cleaning and organizing. Often people blame the tenant and say they must have a pest issue because they are not clean. The problem seemed to persist with other units. On the last day at that apartment when I was doing a final walkthrough, a cockroach came out of the kitchen sink. I was so glad I was leaving because the rent was too high for a luxury building that seemed to have a pest problem. And the problem seemed to be coming from the kitchen sink.
I’m so so sorry you had to go thru the experience. Rental prices are crazy and at the same time apartments do not meet the same standards. It’s so easy to blame the tenants. I have been very vigilant with keeping the apartment clean. I had received comments in the previous video about the drains. I bought drain covers for my shower and kitchen sink. Did you use sink cover in your old apartment? Thank you so much for sharing your experience and suggestion 🙏🏽💗

My Boston studio had roaches no matter how clean I was - city apartments very common; constant battle. Some newer buildings are sealed better.
I guess it’s all part of the experience 😬

You need a rug for the living room and try putting your island under the window not in the walk area
I am planning to buy the rug but since I wasn’t happy with the layout I haven’t yet. Didn’t think about placing the kitchen island against the window. That’s such a great idea. I am going to try it. Thank you 🙏🏽

@@TishaShrestha The rug will help you decide on the layout. Looks like a pretty small space so you probably wouldn't go for larger than 5 x 8. Use masking tape to get a visual for rug size.

Initially I was not planning to ask for rent reduction. After their response to my email about the mold, I have decided to send them an email with all the photos and videos, list down all the issues and ask for a rent reduction.
@@TishaShrestha Definitely keep on it. I saw one of your first videos where you mentioned price of place (I don't remember exactly but it was over 2,000 wasn't it?) I get that may be "cheap" for NYC but still that is not right. Those issues should have been taken care of prior to your moving in. I am sure they must have known about some of that from previous tenants. Good luck to you!

With the mold and roaches I wouldn’t stay, you’re jeopardizing you and your dog good health. If you have photos, documentation to prove it Is have to find another place. You deserve better.

The advion gel with do it. Roach eats it and takes it back to nest. Eventually killing nest. Pest issue will get better

If you treat with Advion monthly for the first 3months, you should then be able to skip a month or 2 and still be okay. My last treatment was about 6 months ago and I am still bug free! It helps if all the apartments get treated at the same time.
I remember you had recommended advion in the previous video. When the extermination came, I asked him about advion and that’s when he placed the paste. Thank you so much 🙏🏽. Extermination going to each apartment is optional. It depends on the tenant. I hope your place remains bug free forever and hoping the same for me as well 😊.

May I suggest a cat for doggie.........a great companion and if a bug gets in my cat kills it within the hour!My puppie and kitty are happy now and not lonely if Im out for a bit.
You are right that cats are great bug killers! if a fly so much as gets in my house the cats will get it. Of course, my house will be destroyed in the process of the cats chasing the fly. The cats always win though.

Tisha, you looked lovely on your night out. I like how intentional you are. Like I have said since the beginning about Pest. Everything needs sealed up. Lots of cities have them damn roaches. I’m happy it is getting better. I love your floor lamp. Maybe just a different kind of shade would make a huge difference in your feelings about it.
Be diligent on the management! They owe you plenty on the dirty apartment, the bugs, and not telling you about the gas bill. That was no oversight! Others lived in that apartment and if they included has to them. How was it handled with previous tenants. Enough of that. Enjoy your week and especially your weekends.
Hi Linda, thank you 💗I was so happy to finally dress up and go out with friends. I hope the roach saga ends now. I am going to do my best to keep the floor lamp. When I was selling all my furniture, someone wanted to buy it but I decided to hold on to it :). I am compiling all the videos and photos and sending it to the management and will ask for rent reduction. For gas, they had previously mentioned that they would deduct it from my rent. Youre not boring and you've been very patient. If you asked your landlord to move you to another apartment in the building I bet they would. All of that treatment plus the infestation itself and now the black mold is super bad for your health and your pet's.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽💗. I am compiling all the issues and sending them a note requesting for rent reduction. I am planning to do a mold test on my own too. Roaches situation has improved. This could have avoided if the they had sprayed the apartment before i moved in (apartment was empty for months). If the issues persist, I am definitely going to consider breaking my lease.
I’m terribly sorry to say that shabby flat neither deserves you, nor your money.. everything is just falling apart along with the huge army of cockroaches and bugs, I hope that awful place does not give you any discomfort until you move out to a much better place in future. All the best…🙏🏻

I came across the channel because of the haunting. I'm from Europe and I'm interested and surprised how expensive apartments are in New York.Absolutely over the top overpriece........ But!!!
I love your blog because in general I want to know how casual people live in the city.
I have to admit that it is a lot of money for an apartment, and the problem with cockroaches ,molds can be because moisture attracts insects soooo that is really not a good sign for you. I hope you will find a solution soon, but if you don't succeed, look for better living space.
Can you file an objection to the terms and have your rent reduced further?However, all this is an additional cost and something that no one told you that you would have problems with

The cockroaches could be coming up through the drains.
