    Get him to do a mold test that’s required by city ordinance and probably included in your lease.

    • @TishaShrestha
      @TishaShrestha  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Georgie 🙏🏽 He confirmed that based on his “observation” & nyc standard they will not be doing a mold test. I got two mold test kits from Amazon and will see what the results are 🤞🏽

      @@TishaShrestha oh that’s so shady def report him to 311 and housing authority. FYI those Amazon mold tests often give in a faulty results. A proper one costs about 1500 .. so that’s really on them to pay , not you.

    Hi Tisha maybe your stuffy nose because the apartment has mold.. I think you have to seriously complain as this might affect your health & your pet too.. I know you just moved in but this apartment doesn’t seem to be hygienic perhaps consider moving somewhere else I know it sounds crazy but your health should be top priority

      Hi Asma, I have seasonal allergy 🤧. I didn’t have it back in Nepal. After I moved to the USA that’s when it all started. If the issues continue in upcoming months, I will definitely consider moving out. Thank you so much 💗

    You should 100 percent insist that the building pay for the mold test. I thought my old building had a mold problem and they promptly replaced the air/heat unit. (But my breathing issues continued, I think, because the building itself was converted from a warehouse and had really poor circulation. I had to leave after that year.) You can ask your primary doctor for a mold allergy test too. I agree that you should send a letter to management with all your grievances and submit proof ( but don’t share everything because you may need that later for small claims court). Ask for a time frame for when you can expect resolutions, so then you can start asking for rent reductions if they miss the deadline. While wash and fold is a luxury, consider it and grocery delivery when you are tied. We cannot do it ALL and like food delivery, sometimes we have to pay more for the convenience. Hope you enjoy spring in NYC-it’s definitely the best time outdoors!

      I am so sorry you had to go through this. Thank you for all the suggestions 💗. It’s very unfortunate the amount of issues you’ve had with this apartment considering how excited you were moving in etc. Shame on the management for trying to minimize the mold situation.. you should definitely break your lease and find somewhere better .. these problems are way too much for anyone to be dealing with

    I wish your 1st New York apartment experience was better. It’s sad you’ve had to go through so much. Report this to the department of health and report the building owner. Enough is enough! Hold your rent back in an escrow account and take them to court if needed.

    Great choice on the glasses, very attractive on you. I feel so bad you concerning that whole apartment situation because you have been reasonable and working with them from the very beginning. Him saying he doesn't think there's a mold problem because his nose isn't affected & he doesn't smell it is ridiculous. You keep the place spotless & clean, that's why there's no smell. Grrrr

    It also sounds like your apartment’s management team are just front end sales people and once the contract is signed they don’t care. I deal with vendors on a global scope, so I’m happy to provide some best practice guidance if you need it. Cheers!

    Hi Tisha, First of all, I love your dog, so so cute. Please do not give up on getting management to get the issues you have taken care of. Roaches are hard to get rid of and they can multiply if not taken care of mold is a real concern because it can and will cause health issues. I had a small amount in my basement and I cleaned the wall area with a solution I found on Facebook and it has not come back in the 11 years since I found it. You mentioned that you might put your couch on the wall where your T.V. is and I think that would be good and then I would put your little island at the end of the couch where your lamp is and it is close to the kitchen and you could wheel it out if you need something on it. This would give you clearance to the closet that it now blocks and your TV. would not stand out from the wall as your couch now does. I love how independent and positive you are and am so glad that I saw your vlog and started watching it. I am wondering what kind of work do you do? Don't be so hard on yourself and take one thing at a time, as far as the apartment being messy with things all over I always say don't put anything down put it away especially if you live in a small space and you also feel so good when you open your door and everything is where it should be is there. I hope I am not sounding too pushy but I do like your vlogs very much and look forward to seeing them as you put them out. See you in the next one.

    The management should definitely pay for the mold test! In any case, if the second curtain gets moldy too, you've got them dead to rights and they'll have to take action! I sincerely hope it won't though, because I'm sure remediation would be another big pain in the butt. My late mother had a wonderful cat who killed both mice and literally every bug dumb enough to come within a foot of him, including a roach, a couple of crickets, numerous flies and spiders and even moths. ;-) Maybe every New Yorker needs a kitty friend like that!

  • @wenchyfoodwench4098
    @wenchyfoodwench4098 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If that mold was only near that window Crack, it could be coming from the outside. The moisture mixing with the soot and dirt from the street. To make sure your air inside is clean, you may want to get an air purifier with a hepa filter. Unfortunately, if the mold was only in one spot, there may not be anything the management can do. You'll have the purifier for future apartments. This may be something that is happening because you're close to the street. If you have the filter, you can have the window open and breath clean air. Hope that helps.

    I hate to say this, but unless you want to break your lease, you'll likely just be screaming into the void with your paper trail. I'm probably just a jaded New Yorker, but your grievances don't sound that unlivable. They are just going to label you as a problem tenant and ignore you. I hope that doesn't come off as mean, I feel for you!!

    • @TishaShrestha
      @TishaShrestha  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all! Tbh I didn’t make a big deal out of it in the beginning because it is NYC (thought this might be the norm) and I didn’t want to be labeled as a “problem tenant”. I really wanted to stay here for few years (prime location & its spacious) and I didn’t want any repercussions. But I have reached a point that it’s getting too much… even though things have improved it’s just one after the other. I can at least try instead of just letting it be.

      @pink3rbellx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TishaShrestha hi! I am so sorry you have had to deal with so much. I’ve lived in NYC specifically Manhattan my whole life and I don’t like when people try to make roaches and serious issues like mold normal. It absolutely is not and comes down to living in an old (poorly maintained) building with poor management. I know you love your apartment but I can assure you, in the future, you’ll find another better apartment you never expected to find with much less headache. My recommendations would just be to deal with newer buildings (built after 1980..70s latest) and buildings run by large management companies (they are more responsive/responsible/experienced and tenants can come together if major issues arise as well). Also try to avoid ground floor apartments moving forward. By the way, the city of New York takes mold very seriously. I would personally call 311 to report it (what if it’s in the whole building?) and hire a rental lawyer (I’ve had to do it in the past to get back my security deposit). It’s cheaper than you would think and having them contact management on your behalf would push them to take you seriously, as well as be less of a headache for you. I wish the best for you! You are clearly totally capable of handling anything but just wanted to give you my perspective.

      Thank you Nancy 💕. That was one of the main reasons why I was being understanding. I was really hoping to stay here for few years (location is great and it’s spacious)

    Haha welcome to renting (especially a pre-war building in NYC). Landlords don’t want to deal with issues or pay for anything…it’s super frustrating but unfortunately it’s nature of renting in an old building.
