    Hey, No one has replied to my email regarding missing parts on my purchase for almost a week. Now I have to leave a message here in hopes of some sort of communication.

    That's all useful advice, but different clubs/tracks have different rules - make sure to learn those. For example, one of my local tracks requires tow hooks to be installed front AND back, not just "know where your tow points are". You don't want to show up with just one.
    A thing that helped me a lot for my first few track days is watching onboards on TH-cam. If the car is same/similar to yours, write down notes on what speed is in the middle of each corner, where the driver brakes, where they start to turn in, where the apex is, where they track out. Adjust this to expect 10-20 mph slower for your first few days, and brake that much earlier. Watch the onboard multiple times. Then close your eyes, try to imagine how the track looks and speak aloud how you would drive it.

    Mid-Ohio sports car course, one of my faves. 1 thing, never wear a motorcycle helmet in a car, in case of fire the lining will melt and say goodbye to your face. Always wear a Snell/Fia approved auto racing helmet with a head sock (Balaclava) also wear a racing glove. Zamp is a great brand and they are not expensive.

    What kind of helmet do you recommend?

    • @TimurIskhodzhanov

      Snell certified. Bell Sport EV was my choice. Highly recommend to try a bunch of different helmets in person before buying, every head is different.

    red flag usually means race (or event) stopped, return to pits at moderate speed. take some warmup laps, usually my entrire first session its just a sighting run. your car has alot of bits and peices that need to warm up. the temperature gauge lies!! :) oh, and steer with your feet.

    • @terrylessmann2274
      @terrylessmann2274 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      At some events (PCA and NASA, etc), the red flag means to stop at the nearest / next corner worker station. They want you stopped ASAP. You should stop where you can see the corner worker. They will give you a yellow or green flag after the red flag situation is over.

      @@terrylessmann2274 very good addition, I personally have not competed in those series but I have friends who have so it was silly of me to not include that. In rallying we have the Red Cross/SOS system, where when an emergency happens the time control workers stop sending cars, and the cars who are already on stage stop at the incident. And do not pass, that way the stage can be declared cold and an ambulance or fire can be sent. Similar idea

    Great video for beginners. Wish I had it 5 years ago when I started hitting the track. One minor observation, the parking brake on the 86 is not through the caliper, but separate small drum. So the hot pads won't be engaged if you use it after parking. On others cars that may mot be the case, like the MK3 MR2 I had.

    • @TimurIskhodzhanov
      @TimurIskhodzhanov 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it can still bind to the inside of the drum, and/or warm the hot rotor while it's cooling down?

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotta keep in mind that the heat transfers throughout the whole brake system and there is still a chance the e-brake shoes will bond to the rotor. Best to be safe than sorry.

    3:13 However, don’t screw one of the stupid looking hooks into bumper.

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tow hooks are actually required by a lot of events.
