    I found also having a 50cm fan blowing against the front during pit breaks probably help with cooling. Some Subaru drivers I know remove the grill as well for more cooling
    I see penrite oil 💪💪🇦🇺🇦🇺

    MotoIQ this is an amazing video! I just "semi" finished the mechanical side on my 260z and did an autocross school at my local arena. This video perfectly demonstrates a good first day at the track. Just remember we are out here to have fun, so enjoy it by relaxing on your movers blanket, and go make some friends!

    Comment for Justin: Probably would make sense to have a ride along to teach the hand position, specially while turning and during the track, keeping the hands at 9 & 3 and avoid too much hand movement on the steering wheel, this also helps knowing the position of the wheels on the street and have better understanding of the car limits on the curves.

    Excellent guide! I would also add another on-track tip. Always check your mirrors tracking out of a corner, especially before a passing zone/straight. Most likely there will be someone behind you, so you want to give a point-by to allow them to pass. Lift off your throttle slightly so they can pass you quickly and don't "race" them to the next corner. Check your ego at the gate. Just because the other driver appears to be a cheaper/slower car doesn't mean they're a slower driver!

    • @ayske1
      @ayske1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good point. I was following an FD in my stock legacy and I'm sure my corner speed was quicker but couldn't take him on straights. At my local they remind that its the one behinds responsibly to overtake but also they should have flag markers. Blue light from memory to allow overtake

      @@ayske1 YES! I also drive a momentum car, so I feel your pain, but when someone is knocking on my back door, I never hesitate to let them pass. I wish all drivers were just as courteous.

    Don’t forget to take extra brake fluid, materials for a brake bleed, and pads because you never know if you’ll burn through them. I had the bad experience of boiling my brake fluid and driving back home.

    Good video. You guys should build on this. I try to tell people you don’t need r compound tires and big brakes to go to the track. It’s better to go out a find the lower limits on a street setup and slowly raise the bar as you learn

The list for prep isnt short by any means, but i'm so excited! I suspect the wrx 5 speed will let go, but if it does it on track, i'll be happy. (reason to swap in an sti 6 spd) anyways, thank you guys again for the awesome content.

    Just a quick comment over Head and Neck devices and safety.
    There is only one SFI and FIA approved Head and Neck Restraint (HANS Device) on the market that can be used with a three point belt. It is made from Simpson called the Hybrid S. It is quite the expense and not something a novice to track driving would invest in off the bat. If you do find yourself after one or two track days being hooked to track driving, I highly encourage people to Invest in their own person safety as you number 1 priority versus any performance gains you can do to the car.
    You can always replace metal When it happens, but you can't replace the squishy bits!

    • @motoiq

    Forcing people to run helmets but not HANS (and the needed 4 ou 6 point harness and roll cage) is still one of the biggest mistakes race tracks do. On a modern car, full of airbags, you are doing worse than better. Sure, older, stripped out or caged cars should all be using helmets, but newer, street cars with airbag all around are just safer for the driver without helmet if you are not running a proper HANS, at least, a 4 point harness and, at least, a roll bar.
