Hey Robbie! I just wanted to thank you because you have become so inspiring to me, for your persistence and for the vibes you show in every video (and I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way). This week I'm going to start doing things I love to fulfill my dream, and I think it's all thanks to the inspiration you've given me and all of us in this community. So, thank you #StayCommited
For anyone trying to drop the engine and trans together, remove the front cab mounts and lift the front of the cab up. This will give you plenty of room for the trans to clear. Be careful the cab doesn't hit the bed when you lift the front. Also a notch on the blower fan housing may be necessary to have clearance for the head. A hydroboost swap will give you lots of room on the driver side head as well.
the torque converter locks into the trans then bolts to the flexplate, his learning is amusing to watch like watching other people in the past, but it’s always a learning experience gotta learn one way or another
Torque converters are always a joy to watch new people play with. Seeing all that fluid on the ground and it bolted to the flex plate I was definitely cringing. I know he is about doing and learning but a transmission is not an area you want to make mistakes and I wonder if that thing full seated properly.
Torque converter goes on the transmission first. When you put it on the transmission shaft spin it till it engages with the transmission pump then line it up to the flywheel spin the flywheel till it lines up with the converter bolts from the bottom. MORE IMPORTANT FILL THE TORQUE CONVERTER WITH FLUID FIRST.
Your channel is the best for being honest. Other car channels are too perfect and unrealistic. They just pay to get the hard stuff done, you actually do it.
Strip sockets from harbor freight are life savers! I worked in a scrap yard on the rust belt as an auto dismantler for a bit and those things… made my life easy
The only issue I have been able to find with the 4l60e (having owned 5 trucks in the time they came with 4l60's: Try to watch for a loose 2>>3 shift. The clutches for those gears tend to wear more quickly. That's the biggest sign of a failing trans. If it's not bad, you can just go easy on it when you know it's going to shift. My band-aid solution was to get a shift kit and a bigger trans cooler. Good luck!
So stupid people giving you heat for your mistakes.. I think it's amazing how you try it, fuck up, learn from it and get it right in the end, all that matters! Keep the quality vids coming, this is good content 👍
I have a 4x4 s10, and with the front diff there you dont have the clearance to put the engine and trans in as one piece. so I just loosened the rear body bolts and took out the front, then jacked up the body to give me the room i needed to get the engine in and get access to the bolts to bolt it on to the trans.
I don’t think the converter is on all the way. A good way to check is to see if you can get your fingers behind the converter. If you can it’s not on all the way. And yes you can still bolt up the Trans when it’s not in all the way.
Love this series but I’d feel bad for not mentioning that Holley makes a total swap kit for these trucks with this engine, new crossmembers and even heater box that all allow everything to clear
The only issues with 4L60's is the fact that they over heated and burn the fluid which does in the trans. To solve this problem installing a aftermarket trans cooler with the temp gadge. Good luck man love the content Good luck.
The reason why theirs two types a filters for the 4l60/4l60e is one is deep pan and other is shallow pan. Trucks use deep pan, deep pan filter Cars use shallow pan ,shallow filter.
Messaged you on Instagram too, unfortunately, probably cracked the transmission pump gears when it got bolted together the wrong way. Heres hoping your pump is ok. Great job tho!
The accumulator piston in the transmission is a very VERY common problem on 2wd and 4wd. I went through 4 transmissions this year already due to the same thing. Get it rebuild by a pro or upgrade to the 4L80
I wonder if you knew you didn't have to move your bench and tool box, you could of spun the engine on the hoist and went in from the side. You were on the lift even if you had to raise the tire off the ground a bit. Either way works but maybe in the future you would know. But then again you wouldn't of found your 10mm
The 4L60E is fine. They have as many issues as any other Chevrolet transmission. I am so glad you never made it to the point of starting that thing lol. Would have been a RIP pump.
Literally was doing a rad swap on my Miata and about a week before that I lost my 8mm socket haven’t found it until I took my blocks and some cooliant out of my trunk and found I didn’t know how tf it got there but it was there
coming from a gm guy 4l60e is weak in stock form, 4l60 and the e can’t handle even decent torque. 4l80e is the better option they’ll handle power and they are identical besides cross member.
Hey man just a suggestion but why don’t u pull the cab then it would drop right in and u could clean everything up at the same time. You already have everything off
No hate but if I had my preference the 350 would be the better trans of the two. I know to many people who have destroyed 4l60e and a 4l80e is a heavy duty version and is more durable without building either 🤘
no u doing in it round the donut what u put on the fly wheel have to go in the trans first and u have to spin the donut in the trans and u will here two clicks u doing in it very ronud u will damage your trans
yes. i know that you learnt from doing it with no knowledge at all, cus ive been following you for many yrs already. hahaha. congrats robbie! regards from Brunei ! peace out and stay commited !
0:22 ngl the Silverado is looking a little rusty. Crown it man! it really does help. our 2010 work trucks crowned every year and it looks cleaner than that.
😂😂😂that 10 mm find was hilarious!!! We all have felt that one before
너도 그냐
bro when you were hammering the trans thing with the music was amazing
As a lover of music and a video editor myself... absolutely awesome 🔥

the trans tunnel cutting edits 🔥
Hi Robbie just wanted to say you’re doing great keep it up :)
I think its sick how your so true to you and to life, your not the stereotypical TH-cam guru who does the same thing as every other person.
The best automotive TH-camr hands down, keep the great quality videos comin
You’re seriously the best Robbie ! 🤍 Keep Doing You !

The seal whil leak for sure
I was just about to say the same thing hahaha he's going to need to pull the trans out again. Hopefully he reads it.

I'm back 20 seconds after. Sadly got to watch tonight after work just had to like and comment
ALWAYS A BANGER WHEN ROBBIE DROPS

The torque converter has to go in the trans first slide ot on and spin it and push in at the same time to it clunks in

You are my inspiration for all of my builds man, keep up the great work!

I love this series
thanks i'm doing the same project with my S10 atm. Helps watching you mess up for me so I can get all the pro tips.

You should be able to swap the bell housings over with the other transmission the one that doesn't have a broken bellhousing bolt holes
Robbie some of the shot and angle in this video are amazing. You are killing it.

Yay the truck build is finally moving along tho was really looking forward to the rear engine one that got bailed on

Robbie I gotta know, I got a ton of hot wheels, they are opened, no packaging, would you still want them??
Yesssss!!!!!!! Been waiting all week for a new vid! Love your vids Robbie!
Yepper invest in some saw dust or kitty liter it works wonders when soaking up oil 🛢 off the floor.
Best vid ever? 🎯💯
Messaged you on Instagram too, unfortunately, probably cracked the transmission pump gears when it got bolted together the wrong way. Heres hoping your pump is ok. Great job tho!
So cool that you did it by yourself.
Put a garbage on the tail and tape it no more mess lol
2:52 you know it's quality when the dirt is caked on😅😅🤣🤘
5:55 was so satisfying

I HIGHLY recommend changing the upper control arm bushings while everything is out. Or just change the whole arm
Three clicks in when you put the toruqe converter in the tranny dont bolt it on first your gonna blow that trans pick up
Yee
Love the vids man you have a great energy and makes it fun to watch
I love watching this project progress keep up the good work
Yes! Finally new video! I've been dying to see one of your new ones Robbie

So you bolt them together then the torque converter and flywheel through the opening afterwards?
13:07 I can relate lol 😂
SHEEEEEESH
Aaaah yes Robbie now has the 4l slipp E
Bruhh lets goo these longer vids are the best!!
Literally was doing a rad swap on my Miata and about a week before that I lost my 8mm socket haven’t found it until I took my blocks and some cooliant out of my trunk and found I didn’t know how tf it got there but it was there
Also Robbie I think cylinder 1 sits a bit more forward than cylinder 2 in ls
Ben waiting all day to finish work and watch this💯

Make it a flat wooden bed🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cant wait to see the Ls10 doing a fatt burnie
Hey man just a suggestion but why don’t u pull the cab then it would drop right in and u could clean everything up at the same time. You already have everything off
I was so confused why he was putting the converter on first and not doing the bulbs threw the starter hole
yeeyee
Rob can you do a quick review on the new headunit you got for the Z I’m thinking of getting it
Your videos always motivate me to work on my own cars
No hate but if I had my preference the 350 would be the better trans of the two. I know to many people who have destroyed 4l60e and a 4l80e is a heavy duty version and is more durable without building either 🤘

Hey what motor mounts did you use. Im doing the same swap.
OMGGG its a crime scene at 8:47 - 9:12 🤣🤣🤣
Notification gang
Been waiting on the s10 vid
Don't listen to people robbie. Every single 4l60e in my family had had a minimum of 247k on it. Before needing rebuilt
hiiii Robbie!!!
Been waiting for an upload
yes. i know that you learnt from doing it with no knowledge at all, cus ive been following you for many yrs already. hahaha. congrats robbie! regards from Brunei ! peace out and stay commited !
Damnnn boyyyyy!!! He upload!!!!
0:22 ngl the Silverado is looking a little rusty. Crown it man! it really does help. our 2010 work trucks crowned every year and it looks cleaner than that.
🔥🔥
May I ask why you didn’t go 4l80e
Nice fact to know it always start with the oblong hole
You inspired me to go put the exhaust i bought for my truck like a month ago
Kitty litter works for major oil leaks
Try lowering the engine+trans into the subframe
Please Robbie, get a face shield for when you use a cut off wheel, you don't want that thing exploding and hitting your face
13:07 every car guy ever
“Quick and dirty lady swap” takes over 3 parts.
Lol at the random 10mm find
Yo my brother opened up a auto trans like that on his old s10 with my dad and they were able to figure it out. They said it wasn't to bad
Invest in gravel lol it’ll pick up your fluids when you spill them lol
4L60E? It's glass. Tempered glass if you get it built but glass nonetheless. I hope it holds. But in case it doesn't, just go for a 4L80E.
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
