Who is the guy in the black shirt? She seems to ignore everything he says, and I've never seen him in any of her videos. Is he a "national coach" who only comes out to handle back room coaching at big meets?
I know what you mean. Arnold himself was a good Olympic lifter and even credited the lifts with helping him to understand lifting better for his bodybuilding career. All those Arnold clones should really hit the bumper plates
And she warms up in a mentally satisfying way as well. She ended her warmup with her second attempt snatch weight so that she knew she could hit both her first and second attempt 100% before she even walked onto the platform. Same with clean and jerk.
@@danielhenderson762 I think he/she was talking about the ascent of the clean, I noticed that too, she pushes her knees outward in the beginning of the clean which is new to me
@@uuh.okayiguess it's not that uncommon in young lifters. Especially females. I don't think it's sustainable. It's knee caving no matter which part of the lift it is.
If you start lifting at a young age and if you have good genetics (like every human elite athlete) your connective tissues are conditioned enough, by 10+ years of training, to make "dangerous" movements sustainable without any risk of injuries The story is different for other people. Average fitness enjoyers should definetly not play with knees during lifts
I agree. I was very surprised, there are after all Muslim women athletes and I thought it was sad that she decided to retire. It she’s happy then that’s great (she also said she’d had some injuries) but she’s so young and seeing her writing some ultra conservative things on her Instagram is rather worrying. If she changes her mind and wants to come back I hope she can as I have heard women getting trapped in these kind of situations where their husbands do not let them go or resume a career because of ultra conservative religious views.
@@guidojorgemamanicondori8309 Might have had something to do with it, but the main reason was that she couldn't overcome her knee problems. You can see she had serious knee valgus on a lot of her heavier squats.
I agree Alex Ramos, her regular coach, according to previous videos and championships is the coach in the red. It seems that is the coach that she started training with. The guy in black looks like nervous person. Supposedly in his younger days, was a championship caliber lifter on the world level for his country. I like the guy in red, quiet and effective as a coach.
No he's not her father. It's Victor Sherbatih - The head of Latvian weightlifting federation. He was an elite athlete previous decade. Silver medalist 2004 Athens, bronze at 2008 Olimpics in Beijing at 105+ cathegory
This was the video that got me into Weightlifting, and I still rewatch, regularly. I feel strange about seeing her, lift for another country, in the near future, because she's also the one who got me interested in Latvian culture. But hey, we get to see a technical master come back. Which is great!
Fuerte! Rebeka para hacer 4 de una en 90Kg en Arranque los 100 no eran en su momento su máximo, deben atender su rodilla que se le notaba una dificultad, bendiciones gran deportista.
Damn. She makes it look like snatching is so easy. I find the technique very difficult... I correct my back, than I forget to pull my elbows. I correct my elbows, than something else goes wrong. I came so close giving up. My PT keeps telling me it takes time... show patience.
Question for anyone else who noticed... why is there a distinct sound when she makes contact with her hip in warmups (in the snatch)… but on stage it is silent? Is it something as simple as not being mic-ed up?
Rebeka makes hip contact with the bar during the snatch like pretty much all elite lifters which causes the distinct sound you heard. There will certainly still be sound during the competition lifts, but due to a couple of factors it is quieter, most likely the mic position is part of it, also the sound of all the cameras is making it harder to hear the bar contact, and the other part is that in the warmup she is not using any collars on the bar so there is more rattle in the warm-up weights, on stage the weights are locked in with collars so they vibrate less.
I've seen a few of Klokov's seminars. He always tend to criticize the Americans for not pointing their toes outwards. Its the same case with Rebeka i think? I'm no expert. Just looking for advice here. Due to her toes being more forward pointing her leg seems to do that weird twitch/shift thing and as soon as she's into the drive her heels automatically rotate inwards and toes go outwards. Wouldn't it be better to just point the toes out from the starting position to have a bit more life out of the foot joints and knees?
Aakarshan Bhagat maybe she gets more power with her toes pointed forward. Personal preference maybe. The hard part would be to get the knees out of the way.
It will be always better having your toes pointing the same point as your knees, its the most "natural" posture, allows you to "hide" your knees in the second pull and is less lesive than having your feet parallel. Otherwise, there is always people that have learned and feels more comfortable with the parallel feet and that is not a problem for them, but shouldnt be the way to teach the new athletes...
Look her knees between the first and the second pull, she has to do a very bad movement because the parallel feet, if se had the open feet position that would not exist or at least not be that pronunciated. Parallel feet is used because deadlifting the weight is easier in that way, but if you are strongh enough doing it with the open feet is better and less lesive
I am surprised by the amount of warm up lifts, both weight and reps... and I agree with other comments, her knees do a weird thing rotating outwards, but what do I know... the proof is in the pudding.
it looks like kt tape. It actually works pretty well to relieve pain in certain areas and offer a bit of extra support. Her knees probably take a lot of beating so she probably wears it for a bit of extra support
When it's applied like that on the knees I would say it would provide some support and stability just like knee sleeves do. When you put on a good pair of sleeves you get that really nice feeling of compression and that they're keeping everything together really nicely.
There is no way to tell without actually being there. In competitions the coaches will calculate how many sets are during the waiting time and how much rest between set in order for the athlete to not get tired. So it can definitely change from athlete to athlete.
What about her effort? So, she shouldn't follow her dreams because she owes the coach? Did you ever think that maybe she wasn't enjoying it any more? She gave up most of her young life to weight lifting and owes it nothing.
