people are different and for you conventional might be best stimulus to fatigue, feel better and perform better there are people who do better with sumo. you are literally built different than everyone else, and some are in a way that makes whatever you feel conventional is for you be what sumo is for them. its like grip width on bench, how far away you put your legs with squat and all that, its preference within a certain threshold. you might say ROM is smaller to where sumo should not be counted but eddie and thor did conventional, so if it is that advantageous, everyone would be doing it like arching on bench.

Kyoto's "squat" is an absolute joke, a disgrace to the sport. Back has completely collapsed, no bracing of the core whatsoever, bar is so low that the weight is resting on the elbows instead of the back, basically he was doing a standing back extension. Terrible lift!
Back hasn't "collapsed". There's no physical way to not brace under a max load, the central nervous system prevents this. If I told you to unrack your 1RM and said "now just let the weight collapse on you", even if you TRIED the nervous system will kick in and brace for you. The bar isn't resting on the elbows. The error you're looking for is that he's probably slipping the bar below the allowed position on the shoulders.
had a 6 second squat once (only 270 pounds lmao) one HELL of an experience, all i can really say edit: I noticed they start the timer from the very beginning of the lift, this was 6 seconds AFTER I had dipped below parallel. Going by their rules it was closer to 7-8. I still have that video 😭
I have a BP Video online with 18s movement, 14s fron cheast to lockout and squatted once 14s, 12s up. My everyday training is not under 7s total at the last rep in a set, most of the time 10s. And I'm not in the video... or a powerlifter. haha

They need to make a stiffer bar for the super heavies to squat with. The bounce on Jesus's walkout was craaazy.
There are many stiffer bars available the IPF just won't use them. They require an identical bar for all three lifts.

Usually they don’t lock their lift. Which means shoulders and arms can be loose.

I've done a 15 second deadlift in competition but im not an ipf lifter so nobody gives a shit
