Suga yelling at his persona and his shadow to find a way to coexist. His gift is his ability to make intangible notions into fully fleshed out art for us to consume.
If this song affects you this much, I would hold off on watching Amygdala. It's Suga's truth, but he cried when he sang it in concert. Trigger warning.
Thank you. Our BTS journey has been an emotional one, but that’s the beauty of it. They are so skilled at expressing feelings that everybody has but struggles to express. We are already in it this deep, so I think it’s some point we’re going to hit that one too. And I hope we will be able to feel and discuss it in a way that does it justice. -Remmington

His rare skill of not mincing words to mask the agony of humanness is hard-hitting and real because his songs are a collection of his life experiences as he reaches out to achieve his dreams.
Suga is always willing to go there. His song The Last is difficult to listen to but I somehow find it comforting. His song Amygdala however made me totally break down. I love the song, but the MV is too much for me. Suga's music is often feels like a scab being pulled off to me. Thanks for the reaction!
BTS is therapy. Thousands, millions of lives were saved over the years because BTS chose to be real, honest, and make it okay for us to admit our thoughts and that we are no less-than to be who we are.
RM used to be my bias. His intellectual approach to story telling was amazing. But Suga is the one that made me cry. And this is the song that broke me. Suga and Jin are now my equal biases because they most reflect me. Suga is my rage and my hurt and self doubt and my grit to push through. Because ARMY is aware of his struggles with mental health, I think we're always just a little concerned about his well being. So we can relate to his struggles very keenly.
Chase had such a visceral reaction to Shadow which kind of surprised me tbh. I would advise you steer clear of reacting to The Last or Amygdala released under Suga's alter ego Agust D. They are emotional hard hitters that make a lot of Army cry. Nice to see a new reaction from you guys :)
Yeah, that was a seriously hard hitting one for me. We’re definitely getting back on track. No more of this hard editing nonsense. We lost our way but we’re coming back now 😂 thanks for supporting us Toni 💜💜
Eric Weinman 0 seconds ago I would say to the contrary. Confront art and recognize that when art affects you it can be an agent for reflection and self-growth. In the track "On" BTS says bring the pain on which in one narrative refers to Jung's concept of individuation. Shadow, The Last, and indeed Amygdala are all songs about dealing with the psychological reality that proceeding through life means reconciling with a subconscious which has the potential to destroy us. Each in its own way offers up a solution. I get in Amygdala it takes extra analysis to discern the positives in the track/mv, but Suga virtually always leaves the listener with a positive whether it is explicit or needs to be discerned.
Yoongi has always been sincere and straightforward in his art. I hope one day you'll get to solo works of the members too, there's so much to unpack. Thanks for your reaction, love your thoughts!
Suga lyrics hits to everyone diferently. but one thing is sure for all of us ..its like a reality check for all of us ...everytime and in everyy song its happend to me all time ..
I remember, a while ago you were watching a video by someone from BTS and it really affected you. I remember thinking “wait until he hears Shadow.” It makes me cry every time, knowing all struggles Suga has had.
That song made me break down pretty hard. We reacted to that one on our website instead of here but it was one of the most impactful moments that music has ever had on me… hard to listen to it still because of the emotions it brings up actually. -Chase
It was so interesting to listen to you on this topic. The group themselves did not know they would become so big and it hit them hard. Just before this albu. Suga wrote his verse to Outro:Tear from the Love Yourself:Tear album. They were thinking of disbanding because it was all too much. He played his verse to the rest of tge members and they all cried. I think you would really appreciate this song and recommend watching the live with Eng subs as you can see the emotions on their faces and in their voices. The more i have got to know BTS the more i see these deeper meanings in their songs. Once you throw off the expectation that they are a typical commercialised KPop group you can start to appreciate the layers of depth in their lyrics and musical composition/oroduction and MVs. Borahae and thank you for sharing your experiences with us 💜
"Snooze" on his latest album, are his words of comfort to struggling artists. It's both heartbreaking and soothing because it's derived from his experience, but it's also evidence that he has survived and flourished. It's stunningly beautiful.
Suga, in his solo "persona" Agust D, published his new album "D-Day" a month ago and just ended his first part of solo tour in the US. Besides being an amazing album, there are two songs specifically that compose a trilogy together with his song "Daechwita" of his latest mixtape D-2 (2020). Suga/Agust D himself suggests to watch the MVs as a sequence: first "Daechwita" , then "Haegeum" and finally "Amygdala" from his new album. They strike. Hard. Especially Amygdala, which made me cry a lot. But they are absolutely worth the vision.
“Don’t let me shine” refers to the limelight he got. The more brighter the light is, the darker, the bigger the shadows. The shadow he said is the downside of fame. The haters trying to bring you down, the lack of privacy he gets, the pressure of doing good, not making mistakes to avoid scandals and so on. It is super heavy. Thank you so much for your react. BTS made songs that are truthful and relatable. The honest lyrics really can impact you. Looking forward for more videos. BTW you said RM but he is Suga @ Yoongi @ Agust D. 💜💜💜 Borahae~~
Hi! I suppose many have already told you that Shadow is performed by SUGA not RM, RM performed Persona and J-Hope performs EGO. I really enjoy your very honest and espontaneous reactions. Looking forward to more BTS reactions 💜
So shadow took me a minute. Sonically it didn't HIT me right away but once I knew the meaning- the sound really changed for me like a 180. I GET it now, and I love seeing people get it right away
BTS are the most amazing songwriters. People tend to dismiss them as “just a boy band,” but they are incredibly talented musicians and lyricists. I love that you are diving into their music.
What's remarkable to me about that is that it's from multiple songs. We are seeing (& knowing for ourselves) people breaking down on camera from DIFFERENT songs, so it's not even just that one song is hitting hard. It's Yoongi just being so real and RAW with the emotions and inner thoughts he's had.
Suga is therapy. He is just so raw in his lyrics! His recent song Amygdala and the Last had shocked me with his honest and raw lyrics. However, seeing your reaction to shadow I am not sure if I should recommend those songs to you guys.
I'd like to see you guys react to Magic Shop live with Eng sub by BTS. It is such a beautiful song and the lyrics just adds to the beauty a hundred more times. It's my comfort song.
MOTSP and MOTS7 are based on Carl Jung’s Map of the Soul where SUGA’s interlude shadow addresses the Shadow aspect of one’s psyche. As SUGA gets more famous the the bright spotlight on him creates even longer darker shadows - and with that, the insecurity and anxiety of falling further because when you’re at the top of fame - the fall from it is much farther and more devastating - Did you see how he starts moving backwards from the fame once he’s reached the pinnacle - His shadow is actually a part of him, inseparable so he has to reconcile with it. In his future works SUGA continues the discussion about how he is reconciling these aspects of himself - making peace with his shadow. Check out Amygdala, Daechwita and Haegum trilogy in that order - he is a maestro and a beautiful generous human being.
The Map of the Soul: 7 trilogy really worked so well to explore the innermost thoughts of each of the members who was in charge of their track and they were all so relatable. Persona was a strong introduction to the album and Shadow was a great interlude. Ego wrapped up everything and closed the album in a way that soothes the soul after taking the listener through a huge journey in the album. Still probably one of my fave BTS albums of all time (as a group).
Suga is always so honest about his and their struggles. His music connects so hard and feels so real. It is one of the many things that makes their music stand out. Love these reactions. The more you dig into BTS the more you will understand that transparency and humanizing effect is a great part of their charm. Definitely worth continuing on this road. 💜
Dude, this is Not RM, this is *SUGA* aka Agust D as a soloist. Suga has become the first K-pop artist in history to reach No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums chart. Including the Top Rap Albums chart, “D-DAY” debuted at No. 1 on four different Billboard charts this week, topping the World Albums Chart, Top Album Sales Chart, and Album Sales Chart. main current. BTS’s Suga Breaks Record For Highest First-Day Sales By A Solo Artist + Sells Over 1 Million Copies Of “D-DAY” Suga extended his own record for the most entries on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart by any K-pop solo artist. “D-DAY” is now the first K-pop solo album to spend two consecutive weeks in the top 15 of the Billboard 200, but Suga is also the first K-pop solo artist to spend a total of 3 weeks. weeks in the top 15 (on all their albums).
Suga/AgustD is an incredibly emotional rapper. If you want to appreciate his genius, I recommend watching his videos: Daechwita, Haegeum & Amygdala. Watch in that order, since they are a trilogy that basically delves into his own mind to explore his personal traumas. It’s the most amazing storytelling I’ve ever seen in the music video medium.
I'm so happy you guys posted this to TH-cam! I love your BTS reactions. Suga is my favorite 💜 He has a number of songs that hit hard like this one. Highly recommend checking out his solo stuff, particularly The Last, Amygdala, Haegum, and Dream.
Yeah, the 3 part that you guys are listening to: Persona, Shadow, and Ego, are each sung by a different member of the rap line. Persona is sung by RM, Shadow is sung by Suga, and Ego is sung by J-Hope. Love your reactions!
*Suga aka Agust D's Trilogy:* Agust D - Daechwita (turn on CC's) - th-cam.com/video/qGjAWJ2zWWI/w-d-xo.html Agust D - Haegeum (turn on CC's) - th-cam.com/video/iy9qZR_OGa0/w-d-xo.html Agust D - Amygdala (turn on CC's) - th-cam.com/video/IX1dkYoLHVs/w-d-xo.html The last song, Amygdala is his story, and there is a trigger warning on it. So you might have some feelings, especially if you have experienced trauma. But it's worth every second of watching and experiencing. I'll include some explanation of the terms for the songs below. *Meanings for the titles* *Daechwita* - is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while the ARMY is marching or as a static performance usually when the King is arriving. (Suga aka Agust D meant the BTS ARMY to be implied.) *Haegeum* - has two meanings. The first, it's a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings, usually played at Royal Court. Also, it means to lift a ban, or release what is forbidden. *Amygdala* - is an almond shaped part of our brain which is commonly thought to form the core of a neural system for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of our fight or flight response. The amygdala helps to store memories of events and emotions so that an individual may be able to recognize similar events in the future.
Thank you both for your reaction and sharing. BTS continues to pull me in with the way they open themselves and allow all of us to experience their journey with them. 💜
Thank you for this honest heartfelt reaction. BTS always tells their authentic stories, with relatable and universal themes. After J-Hope's Ego, check out more Suga's music under his alter ego Agust D. His new album D-Day is so good. Another ARMY suggested his trilogy MVs, Daechwita->Haegeum->Amygdala. I will also recommend RM's last album Indigo too, such a masterpiece. Seriously, their albums have no skips, I played them straight through each time. Looking fwd to more. 💜
Man I need to recommend to you amygdala by Agust d (which is suga’s solo name), your reactions are amazing and you’ll definitely love suga’s discography he’s so real.
Shadow is one of those many songs that my brilliant genius musician Suga and not RM created.this is one of of his beautiful masterpiece . Suga aka Agust D is actually the main producer among the 7 members of BTS and tge only member in BTS who also produce songs other artists outside BTS. But good analyzes and reaction guys! Try to check also Suga' THE LAST ( super emotional and very powerful ) PEOPLE PEOPLE2 NEVERMIND GIVE IT TO ME FIRST LOVE HAEGEUM ( New and this song 's part Of the trilogy) AMYGDALA ( New and this song's also Part of tge trilogy its d conclusion) Those new songs i mentioned part of his solo album released recently.
I suggest looking at a documentary on who is BTS. “A guide to BTS members: The Bangtan 7.” So you can understand each member. You’re confusing the members.
One thing you must know about BTS they don't sing about something sad or painful until they overcome it. That alone gives us so much hope💜. Btw this is not the full song, do checkout the full song if you really like this long trailer 😂.
I re-subbed because you let us see this one here. Thank you for that. It's very important for all of us (you & Army) to share how their songs make us all feel. I'm happy to be able to start sharing with you both again. Borahae! 💜
Bts is world class rappers. I never like rap befire because of how it used to be portrayed with girls, drugs ans nudity. Bts is so different and how they make music to heal people .
Yeah i totally thought BTS was corporate at first like the rest of pop industry. I found out how my initial thought was wrong. I hope this song was able to expunge some of those past emotions. You obviously are a deep thinker and able to self reflect, but the downside to those qualities you can go so deep that it can debilitate you. BTS has helped me expunge those past emotions and to self regulate them before i get deep. Better than a therapist 😊. Spring Day still gets to me though.
I have too much to say about this, so I'll have to skip most of it or I'll be down the rabbit hole of my thoughts. I want to TYSM for sharing how hard this hit you. THIS is why so many of us are so passionate about BTS, because we've been hit as hard by at least one or more of their songs, and it's helped us heal/deal. Suga in particular has repeatedly made himself vulnerable to us. He's the strongest person I know. What you were saying about the risks (& trust in the fans) he's willing to take, so high up on that pedestal of fame (& how scary that position is)... 1.He's also knowingly showing his vulnerability to everyone he knows is trying to tear him down 2.) When you look at all BTS and AgustD music prior to MOTS:7, this song MUSICALLY and VISUALLY is a virtual cliff jump from that pedestal... The dissonance and distortion, the possibility of being misunderstood to be saying you are ungrateful for the fame and attention because it's smothering/overwhelming you... 3.) We know now (discerning listeners could hear & see it, but it wasn't released officially at that time) that MOTS:7 was released with the intention that it was their "farewell" album as a group before their military duties (like what is happening now, with Proof as the last group album until they all come back together post-military). They really went all out with the album, the MVs, the collaborations, the promotions pre-world-tour... then COVID hit and turned everything upside down (Life Goes On was born from this). MOTS:7 was an absolute MASTERPIECE, and the depths of self reflection, musical experimentation, and comfort/consolation offered to ARMY, in the face of the expected separation and the uncertainty they felt for what would be left of their careers by the time they came back (& what's next?), just can't be overstated. 4.)"Boy band"?? I think you feel now why that label and its condescending connotations offends so many of us, along with all the preconceptions/condescension that go with the "Kpop" label. They are so much deeper and more than those labels. Shoot, I did it again! Sorry for the mishmash of an essay! I really appreciated the vulnerability you allowed us to see, and the thoughts you both shared in the reaction. Was just trying to say how much you were getting it while not knowing so much background info. It's songs like this that show their sincerity when they offer us songs filled with hope, cheer, energy, and encouragement. As always, I'm looking forward to your continuing journey with BTS 💜💜
You have got to do Daechwita. This is Suga by the way, not RM. In Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala he also faces parts of himself, he has incredible perception and wisdom but manages to vulgarize it all to make it very relatable for anyone. 💜
I initially didn't care for the distortion part until I noticed the lyrics at that part was about different inner voices fighting each other.
Suga yelling at his persona and his shadow to find a way to coexist.
His gift is his ability to make intangible notions into fully fleshed out art for us to consume.
Yeah. He’s super creative. His ability to express ideas is uncanny; and especially using different methods to do that.

Amygdala is one of those songs you Have To listen 😢
Suga of BTS is raw, he is non-manufactured and one of a kind artist that takes his art to a higher level than most other artist.
Agreeeeeee 💜🫂
RM used to be my bias. His intellectual approach to story telling was amazing. But Suga is the one that made me cry. And this is the song that broke me. Suga and Jin are now my equal biases because they most reflect me. Suga is my rage and my hurt and self doubt and my grit to push through. Because ARMY is aware of his struggles with mental health, I think we're always just a little concerned about his well being. So we can relate to his struggles very keenly.
The song is: persona by RM
Shadow by Suga Aka Agust D
Ego by jhope they are the three rapper of BTS
Chase had such a visceral reaction to Shadow which kind of surprised me tbh. I would advise you steer clear of reacting to The Last or Amygdala released under Suga's alter ego Agust D. They are emotional hard hitters that make a lot of Army cry. Nice to see a new reaction from you guys :)
Yeah, that was a seriously hard hitting one for me. We’re definitely getting back on track. No more of this hard editing nonsense. We lost our way but we’re coming back now 😂 thanks for supporting us Toni 💜💜

I would say to the contrary. The last song, Amygdala is his story, and there is a trigger warning on it. So you might have some feelings, especially if you have experienced trauma. But it's worth every second of watching and experiencing. I'll include some explanation of the terms for the songs below.
*Meanings for the titles*
*Daechwita* - is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while the ARMY is marching or as a static performance usually when the King is arriving. (Suga aka Agust D meant the BTS ARMY to be implied.)
*Haegeum* - has two meanings.

I recommend you listen to the whole song. Because this music video is part of the song. There is a lyric version of this song on TH-cam.

THE FUTURE SCARE
1.He's also knowingly showing his vulnerability to everyone he knows is trying to tear him down
2.) When you look at all BTS and AgustD music prior to MOTS:7, this song MUSICALLY and VISUALLY is a virtual cliff jump from that pedestal...
Hi this is Suga not Rm, also known as Agust D.
