Thats what I feeling from this song too, it makes sense. The more powerful one becomes in the industry, the more you have to lose. This is really powerful song, "Shadow" really fits with the mood of this song too. Ahhhhh I can't wait until the ALBUM comes out!!
at the last verse the flow changes cause it's his shadow rapping that's why it's more intense and aggressive and the lyrics change perspective as well
When the music switches up, you'll notice the lyrics seem to change tone. That's because it's his 'shadow' talking. His dark side that keeps getting more and more greedy and selfish. Which is why the dark lyrics say things like "i am you, you are me" and "as soon as you admit the better". Expect a LOT more of these duel thoughts and images in the coming album (they've done it before too). Also, expect a continuation of lyrics related to struggles with the darker sides of their personalities, especially as they feel the pressure to be perfect with the way their fanbase idolizes them.

The lyrics are so heartbreaking but Suga has always been open and raw with us. This gives his thoughts on what fame is like for them. They wanted it all they got jt all but it had its price to pay. And Suga’s rapping and vocals were phenomenal and the MV is amazing too!!

good point sariel but you have two watch at least two videos in between the shadow videos. I today am watching shadow then two video perhaps food related, reactions, animal related, makeup related mix it up and then after two videos of something different I watch shadow. also every now an then I throw an old bts video as a third video before watching shadow again. but yes do not pause while watching shadow watch from beginning to end and manually click on the video each time. alright let's go army let's get numbers for the boys. let' get it.

I wouldnt say it only talks about sasaengs, it includes us as well we’re part of the problem too, at the end when Yoongi is nowhere to be seen some of the camera are pointed at us. Also, the figures can he interpreted as all the things he wanted to be, each door holds what he wanted to be but in the end its all in him, he just wants to be himself hence “I wanna be me” and towards the end
@@shaunaray1 maybe you're right. 'Invasion of privacy' is the vibe that I mostly got from the MV. But BTS MV can be interpreted in a lot of ways. 😊
yoongi has such a complex and beautiful way of expressing himself and his way of writing lyrics evoke so many emotions he truly is the most amazing artist
at the last part (verse) youll notice that the sound changes and the way his voice and how he rap changes as well.. it is like his shadow telling the yoongi at the stage that they are one and that he can erase him because he is a part of him. YOONGI IS GENIUS!
Damn the whole vibe of the song is like a mix of Give It To Me + The Last from his Agust D album. The whole angst and vulnerability too is doing shit to my heart maaan! Also the verses seem to be an extension to Suga’s Interlude and goddamn that transition near the end.

So great! To me this is a conversation. Yoongi wants to be a star, to become Suga, but is afraid of the shadow that's getting bigger and bigger as he goes higher. But then his shadow starts rapping in the second half. The shadow tells Yoongi "Yo, light is what makes a shadow, bro. You can't have one without the other. If you stand in the light, I'm always gonna be along for the ride, so deal with it."

"No one told me, how lonely it was up here." -Min Yoongi, cause that, wasn't Suga speaking, and that is the very reason he doesn't state Suga within the beginning. That's shit hurt. That shit hit so hard. You can think they would never feel so lonely, considering all of those they have with them, but yet, they still manage to feel alone. But even those of us, that aren't famous can still understand that loneliness of success. To succeed changes the people around you. Whether that is resentment or envy of them wondering why it is, you've succeeded and not so much themselves. Forgetting that you've fought and worked so hard to get where you are today, but all they see is the ending result of that hard work.
This song hits so hard and deep. Suga all in his feels goes straight to the heart. It's beautiful, sad and uplifting all at once. True rollercoaster of emotions. BTS never cease to amaze. 😭💜

Interlude: Shadow.
I think I see why Suga did the song the way he did. The first half is him stalking about his 'shadow' among other things and 'don't let me down- 'don't let me fly- the first half is sad kinda the lyrics are heartwrenching and gutwrenching and with so many meanings. And the second part hiw the best changes and drops, Suga goes all out. Like his Shadow overtook him -lyrics saying 'you basically can't get rid of him or cut him loose or get rid of him* (I assume that's like his shadow self). All of this is like a theory I have, it what it feels like.
Suga is speaking to us like always through his music, just like BTW always does. I love this song. The duality...is incredible.

So many aspects to this, the consequences of fame, the media waiting for them to screw up, no privacy, the stalkers they have. He wants to be the best but no ine told him the shadows that come with it.
Jung's Map of the Soul. Persona - the public face, what we show the world. Shadow is the opposite, what we keep inside, our dark side. Suga's shadow from what I gather in this song - his insecurities with fame, possible issue with saesangs (crazy "fans"), his Depression (when the visuals & beat shifted, Depression was talking to him), even his dislike with an Army behaviour. He has asked Army that come to their shows to stop holding up their mobile fones and to watch BTS with their eyes. That last scene where he is surrounded by mobiles is a clear reference to this.

Don't forget! The 'Shadow' is a Jung Philosophy! Literally, most of the BTS songs have deep philosophical meanings related to popular media. Your shadow is the dark side of you, thus when the beat changes, it's Yoongi's shadow talking!
By that beat change, I lost it. This is such a good rap song, mv, everything. Seeing how it is from Suga's point of view really does take you on an emotional journey with him.

The symbolism of Yoongi (at the end with him in the crowd looking up at Suga, his Persona/Ego) as the Shadow...then the lines of him saying "You can't break me off/We are one body/We will clash" is him talking about the clashing of his Persona which is his idol famous self and the real Min Yoongi. This album is gonna be INSANE.

COMEBACK TIME IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!!! I'm glad ur gonna experience it!! A lil explanation: so in the song there r 2 Sugas: the one who wants fame but soon realizes it can have a dark side to it, and then the one who actually enjoys the dark side. Suga is afraid this other him can take over. Also, the cameras are a reference to a photoshoot they did for their Love Yourself Answer album, where they show how uncomfortable they feel with fans and the media constantly suffocating them.

Yoongi’s telling us how fame can really give you everything but at the same time how it can destroy you. It also means that even if you’re at the top its not always a good thing. The light becomes brighter, but the shadow becomes darker. And the lines where he says “I wanna be rich, I wanna be the top...” and then he says “I wanna be me” like he’s telling himself as “suga” that he doesn’t want to lose himself as “Min yoongi” even if they’re getting famous. the lines “don’t let me shine, don’t let me down, don’t let me fly... Now I’m scared” contradict to what he was saying at the beginning. The fear they’re facing as individual as they get bigger.
Also In the beginning where you can see people standing outside the door, running after him symbolises those stalkers or sasaengs who always stalks them wherever they go. And also you can see the people who are holding their phones up with dollars and won are reporters and bad people who always spread false accusations and ruin their image for the sake of money. It’s basically their everyday lifestyle.

Just for your info you might be interest. If you see Suga jacket on his left chest area it says YD250 its Yamaha motorcycle he used to ride delivery service to make ends meet when he was young and poor. He got in accident on his left shoulder he almost couldn't make it to stay at BigHit. He didn't tell anyone about it because he didn't want to get cut from BTS. He didnt get help right away so now because of that accident long time he cant do certain dance move.

when the 2nd part came in when he said “i’m you & you are me” i think that was agust d speaking to suga. as we know, agust d is a dark side of suga and he is trying to tell him that suga has to accept him and the shadow as a part of him. i just remembered when yoongi said that he was crying while taking a shower after amas because he is afraid, just like what the lyrics said, that’s what he meant.

I absolutely love this. I love that last bit bc it’s his “shadow” talking. I couldn’t help thinking about the Persona games (most P4 even though facing your shadow happens in multiple games) and how everything goes red and black, chaotic, and even the way they talk changes. Suga’s tone noticeably changed, sounding more aggressive and a bit mocking. In the game, each character has to fight their shadow and with ever encounter the shadow will state “I am a shadow, the true self..” basically in the end you have to accept that shadow as apart of you, the bad and twisted things you don’t want to admit about yourself. Lol so random but I love those games!

I found something interesting in twitter.

Basically the Persona is what you see in the outside of the boys, like a mask concealing the darkness only to present the outside.
For Shadow is the part of Suga, the dark side of him revealing his fears and selfishness behind that mask.
What I did find interesting in the MV is that at the beginning, I think the dark clothed SUGA is the famous side that we all look up to and love, while behind him is the truth, the man with emotions (I don't know 😂) it's my theory.
