Wish I had a local installer I could trust to do this job! I WAS going to grab a new teardrop, but after seeing what I will have to go through to go from the 4 pin to the 7 pin on a brand new car (2024 Subaru Outback Onyx) makes me a little nervous considering how the quality of work has just gone down hill. I am in Pinellas County Florida if anyone knows a shop that you can trust. I've yet to find one and been here almost 40 years. Great video!
I don't have a specific recommendation, but if you use the link below and input your zip code, you can see a listing of installers in your area. I'd recommend looking them up online and checking out what each shop's online reviews look like. www.etrailer.com/installer/near-me/
I could do this job myself..BUT the hardest part is under the dash finding that BROWN wire for the brake RED wire connection....is there another place I can tap into that brown wire instead of the almost impossible at the top of the brake pedal..??
If you can locate the circuit that feeds the 3rd brake lamp, that would get you a clean brake signal. Another option would be to use a stoplight switch like # RM-751000. www.etrailer.com/Flat-Tow-Brake-System/Roadmaster/RM-751000.html
Great Video! I appreciate that this was updated on the 2024 model. I followed another etrailer video on the 2020 to do this install on my 2024. I have not made the connection to my brake plunger yet as I don't have a brown wire. I am in Canada and have the Premier XT Outback; my brake plunger plug has 5 wires; green, yellow, white, black, and a blue/red wire. I am assuming the blue/red is the same as the brown wire in the video as I can see the green, yellow, white, and black in the background that you did not splice. Would this be a safe assumption?
Update: it was the yellow wire on my 2024 Onyx XT (which doesn’t have a brown wire). I’m thinking that this difference may be because of the different engine (2.4 turbo vs 2.5).
The quick splice we used is for 14,16 and 18 gauge wires and is included in the # ETBC7 brake controller install kit. They're also available individually as part # SWC502905-1. www.etrailer.com/Wiring/Spectro/SWC502905-1.html www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/etrailer/ETBC7.html
Thank you for this. I have a 2023 Subaru Outback and will be getting this installed for my trailer brakes. Nice and discreet and no knee knocking!
Good deal!!

We're not sure what you mean by 'plunger plug'. Are you talking about the brake stoplamp switch circuit?
@@etrailer The stop light switch, I'm having the same issue. 2024 outback wilderness, no brown wire.
@@etrailer same here..lno brown wire on my 2024 Onyx XT.
