- Ember spirit is one of the new heroes out in the Diretide patch! The hero is VERY fun to play. He's quite mobile, has a really interesting skillset with decent scaling, and all around has a very strong mid game. He is counterable by burst damage, stuns, and silences, so if you are annoying playing against him, pick those!
I put a lot of thought into the hero the last few days so I'm quite content with my skill and item build this game, though I'd maybe swap out the maelstrom for a Desolator in the early game if there was an exceptionally tank hero.

The sound balancing for this video was a bit off, the game volume being a bit too loud. Other than that though, great video! I haven't gotten the chance to play Ember yet, but he looks really fun!
The Dota audio is bugged, you can see that the sound of slashing, etc is silent but the voices are loud.
Stanlezz it is not bugged at all, there is jsut a new soundslider for the game voices that defauilts, as all teh sound sliders, to 100%. go to the settings and turn it down and everything is fine.

Audio is so imbalanced. PURGE pls fix that next game. Your voice is so low and the announcers are so high and when you speak and announcer plays it hart to hear and its super loud on speakers. thanks

You seem to be pretty adamant about his build being bad and yours good. I think orchid sucks on him, btw.
Something to note is that Mjollnir also has a cooldown time on its chain, while Maelstrom does not. Upgrading the item actually nerfs it for how Ember uses it.
This is also why its preferable to get MKB over Skullbasher, no cooldown on the bash.
I'm assuming you're referring to the green tooltip that says "static charge cannot trigger more than once per second" in the mjollnir description. However, static charge is not the attack modifier proc, it is the shield active ability.

But actually both items have a kind of cd, because there can only be 1 chain at once, so if there are 5 enemies + Creeps and the chain doesn't jump fast enough, you won't get more than 1 chain.
Also around 26:00 you say that you died because you got cold feeted. However, your Flame Guard was off cooldown for like 5 whole seconds (at 25:50 ), which would have blocked 500 nuke damage and possibly have saved your life. I feel pedantic pointing this out, but it seems pretty important.

Not complaining to much, once you get over the initial shock and turn your volume down a little it's realy not that bad.

IMO Ember mid lane item build - Bottle > OOV > Phase Boots > Bracer (maybe full drum) or Urn of Shadows > Crystalys > Skadi > Daedulus > Manta Style (y u no win yet?)
Can swap Crys/Skadi order.
Can add BKB, would probably do so after Bracer or Crys.
Can swap out Bracer/Drum/Urn for Force Staff if against high mobility.
Also... E-blade with 3x Ulti + burn damage? Worth it? Maybe if you find yourself facing a heavier carry in the late game, an AM or Alch that can blow you up. Buy time and get SOMETHING done still. Not sure.
Ohh, Vlad's might be a decent replacement for the Bracer/Drum/Urn section of the game. Lifesteal x5 hits instantly while invul? Yes, please.
Mad Guru Why would you go vlads, you could go HoD which gives the lifesteal and some extra damage. Not to mention it can be built into satanic late game which would give strength and when activated 175% lifesteal onto a sleight on the entire team. Basically its a win win.
I don't believe that the lifesteal Unique-Attack-Modifier from HoD stacks the same as the lifesteal from Vlad's. Vlad's is an aura, meaning it doesn't conflict with Skadi or Desolator.
Also, the Vlad's/Drum/Urn slot covers a need of the Ember-Spirit: mana regen. I think Vlad's also contributes well to Ember's strength in fighting hard in the mid game, bonus armor aura and what-not.
I don't necessarily think lifesteal is amazing on Ember because he's kinda squishy and doesn't really produce THAT much right-click damage. I think Vlad's might be OK because of the numberous aligned benefits.
Even the mention of Manta-Style above is kinda a joke. If it gets that late Ember is probably either already winning or being handled by a harder carry.

Does the lifesteal from Helm/Satanic or Mask stack with Skadi? I was under the impression that only the aura from Vlad's stacked with other orb effects, as it is technically not an orb effect itself.

Remember the days when people thought Battlefury was bad on Ember
my build has maxing flame guard first. The items i usually get on him (which seem to work) are Urn, Phase, then Battlefury, SnY and then Maelstrom. Urn/drum is debatable but i like the burst healing. Drum does give more stats which synergize with the percentage regen on BF. SnY first for hp movement speed and such.
I think Phase/Drum is a good build.

Nah, Battlefury is a pretty poor choice compared to other items. It's 4,200 gold wasted for minimal cleave damage, that could be spent on deso, crit, or maelstrom for far better damage. Going bfury on Ember just isn't worth it, especially since Ember is a mid-game snowball hero, meaning that he won't even benefit that much from a bfury in the late game- in terms of farming or damage, since he peaks off with a really low stat gain.
***** i prefer butterfly in lategame for the evasion. Also butterfly gives agi him whch does give him attack speed and dmg. I'm not arguing against the other items, i just like to get butterfly on agi carryes in general. I like to get a s&y, daedalus and butterfly. I did not tested it too much yet but i can pick off quite a few kill even at lategame.
The battlefury is always a better choice since the damage it cleaves is guaranteed every time as oposed to 25% of mailstorm, and the cleaved damage gets higher every time you add more DPS to your build, so at the end of the game you get a lot more damage from a battlefury than a maelstorm. Not to mention the battlefury adds more damage to each attack, meaning every sleight of fist becomes more powerful, so unless you get really lucky to chain 2-3 times during a sleight of fist (which is highly improbable), battlefury always does the damage and MORE damage than a maelstorm. 2 battlefuries become extremely dangerous if you wait for the oportunity to hit 2 heroes close together.
I only get Maelstrom if im really behind in farm and want to bring somethin to teamfights.
BF is nice on carry-ember to increase your farm, but i dont think its worth getting a second one before picking up crit, since a a 270% dmg-crit does more dmg than an additional 35% cleave.
You're right i usually prefer getting the crit up after battlefury, but on some ocasions i like getting 2 battlefuries up first, you gotta take into consideration again that the crit is chance dependent so you don't have a 270% always. And if heroes get clumped up with vacuum/battle call/reverse polarity, or you just find a good oportunity it might be worth it

I don't like this build... I think a orchid would work quite nice on him, since he needs the extra mana regen, the silence is nice and give some damage. After that you can focus on more survivability and damage.
Actually some people do and Dota2-item-builds is a topic you should discuss about (especially on new released heroes). Of course Purge knows a lot more about the game than most of the other players who are not pro-gamers but he does not know everything about item builds of new heroes, yet and HE does know that for sure because he is not the type of person YOU seem to be.
So... get an item that is extremely useful for getting pickoffs on a hero whose effectiveness is directly proportional to the number of enemies he faces... Sounds legit.
Mana regen can be gotten from other items that would also supplement his kit much better, namely BattleFury.
It gives slightly less mana regen than an Orchid, but it complements Xin's kit much more.
Xin is a teamfight hero, not a pickoff hero. His kit serves him very well as an initiator.

For mana problem i use an early preseverance with bottle. you can still run out of mana but i think more cost efficent then an orchid since after you are done with it you can just focus on all dmg and survivability earlyer than you would finish orchid. Orchis seems a good item though i did not tried it yet but preservence works very well even if you don't build it in a battlefury or linken.
I feel like battle fury crit and maelstrom is the best build for ember spirit because if you crit at any point during slight of fist then it is cleaved at everyone and maelstrom is pretty much activated 100% of the time when you SoF.
Cleave range isn't that big compared to SoF AoE. But that build is awesome when combined with Dark Seer on your team.
dont forget, magnus is the best friend.

Plus you can skip the Battlefury and get Empower instead which has a bigger cleave effect iirc.
Earth and Ember spirit are probably the few heroes I really had a lot of fun with as soon as i picked them up. But I'd be lying if I said the skill build isn't complicated for them. In ember's case, the q is "decent" cc... if you can find a way to land it. The w gives you a nice dodge and is amazing to spam in a team fight when you have a good attack modifier, but will push lanes early, but gives you a nice nuke to use on people running away under tower the e is just an amazing magic shield, forces nukes without dmg, does a good bit of dmg itself, but pushes lanes as well. So generally speaking, he really doesn't have amazing lane control, unless you intentionally want to push you closer to enemy tower, but all these abilities make him REALLY good at ganking with his ult. you're safe with shield, can cc when the enemy runs from the wave, and nuke groups like an omni-blade early and when they make it to tower without taking dmg.
Battlefury + Daedalus is so good on ember.... it takes longer to farm, but depending on the matchup it's a game stopper
battlefury is not that good, you are better off just getting a deso into malstrom, which deals some damege in a much larger AoE. And of corse deadalus is great anyway, the only time which i wold recomend battlefury is if there is a magnus, dark seer or enigma on your team. If you get battlefury to farm, you´re going to have 1000 hp for 25-30 minutes, which is gonna get you kill even with the shild
KalinGames I do understand your point of view, but I just can't think of battlefury as a bad item, of course it depends on who you have on your team, but that is true for every build in DotA.
I agree that having those allies is very helpful, but I have done this build and when you get both items you really become a force to be reckoned with, and it's not unusual to kill multiple heroes with a single Sleight of Fist
KalinGames I also cannot say battlefury is a bad item in the safelane the regen and cleave are amazing but I like to take my ember into hard carry mode with 2 bfury and a daedelus and deso I just love stacking cleave on him
KalinGames The items you mentioned give you absolutely no survivability, deal far less damage and slow down your farm. On Ember a Battlefury gives you insane damage in team fights (more so than daedalus actually). If you're very concerned about survivability you can go drums into battlefury.

Purge, the sound issue people are mentioning is quite annoying, I think the update screwed up something in the spectator, I have been hearing random hero voice overs in my spectator too. Also, Earth Bro's name is Kaolin, fairly easy to remember and pronounce!
Earth Spirit's name is Kaolin, which is also a type of clay used to make pottery.

One thing I have to try is to get satanic, activate it and then use sleight of fists. Battlefury isn't that great early except for the regen, you can't really tank any kind of jungle camp since they buttrape you, but late game is hella useful to clear waves quick, even with the dmg reduction.
I feel as if having a spirit in the fountain at all times would be useful. As you could escape always easily. 1/3 of your spirits to get a full heal, and then use another spirit to get back into the fight almost instantly, or just having something dumb like boots of travel.
they only last a short duration like 45 seconds i believe so its pointless

mZStarCraft Also jumping to one remnant will jump to all remnants, killing all of them. You can't jump back to base, wait to heal and then jump back. BoT are very very good on the hero though, since your split push and counterpush (against classic split pushers) is almost unparalleled. You can do it very safely by leaving a remnant in the lane you just defended, BoT into opposite lane, push it out to oblivion solo and when they defend and threaten you you jump back and push the original lane.

That does sounds like a really strong play. I regret saying BoT as a dumb item. I just thought you could jump to the remnants separately which I suppose would be quite over powered.

I like 2 battle furies then daedulus, very strong end game, cleave for each slight of fist hit, really cuts enemies down depending on how many you catch
Btw, I forgot to mention that bfury ember is one of the best illusionist counters. Just sleight a pushing pl or siren and u may kill them on the spot. Don't be a hater :P

Xin needs items like phases, aquila or drums for early, 2 bfuries, buriza, and then mkb maybe. Desolator good choice for orb cuz u end up melting their team with sleights. Maelstrom good on him too. If u choose to buy mael, there's no need to upgrade it on mjollnir until rly late game. If they have too many disablers, grab a linkens instead of second bfury. Xin is my fav hero and that build is pure ownage :D (hint, keep quelling blade as long as u can on inventory, cuz the extra dmge u do on creeps when u use sleight reflects on nearby heroes thanks to bfury)

What if you go Eul's? Mana regen for that pool, and, you could kill by hitting someone with it then popping shield and spirits right under them. Once they land, you hit them with spirits, do damage with the shield, and you still have bolas and sleight of fist.
After the latest patch, peoples audio settings have been reset, that's why the in game sounds are really loud. Hope purge notices soon!

maxing SOF first and then SC might be just the best idea, it doesn't push the lane as much as FG does, can also harass enemy heavily and even getting first blood.

I honestly love orchid on Ember, though it doesn't sync with his sleight of fist it fills all of his other problems and pays of much better while building it.
Gives him a awesome mana pool and great mana regen, curing all mana problems. Gives him some damage and decent attack speed and most of all gives a silence which pretty much means he can solo kill any hero he wants and can shutdown some really annoying heros like storm or timber
I know it is really expensive, but I think a Satanic could be awesome on Ember Spirit. Pop the active, then go Sleight of Hand. You go invulnerable, and then come back with a bunch of health back.
I've only played one actual match of Ember so far but my end build was Phase Deso Daedalus Battlefury BKB, worked pretty well and he's a really fun hero.
Your audio was way off for this video. I had to turn my volume up very high to be able to understand what you were saying, but then the in-game announcer would just murder my eardrums.
Audio balance way off on this one, Purge. I was quite convinced of him as a 1 role semi-carry aiming for midgame but I guess he works in mid lane as well.
The sound is off because voice audio got separated, and is defaulted to max, so the announcer and hero voices are really loud.
Purge, always a fan of your vids and this one is no exception, but I have one request. Can you pretty please turn down the in game sound effects/ character voices? They were so loud and invasive it made watching the vid a bit of a chore, which it normally never is.

Why is everyone so set on battle fury? It is only really useful on farming mid game, debuffs like desolater also help the entire team btw, plus it gives none of the mana pool or survivability or speed of drums which also aid your team, Maelstrom gives you some base damage and the proc works well with sleight of hand dealing atleast as much as battle fury but without the huge cost, plus the damage is not reduced on creeps so the 120 chain on a creep wave from SoF is going to help clear it in a much shorter time, desolator also effects building which people always seem to forget, even though winning is destroying building at the end of the day, the huge pushing power with similar overall cost without sacrificing damage makes purges build much more effective, obviously he probably has more experience than you and has talked with some of the best dota2 players about items and strategies in general, but he did explain most of what I just said and it makes sense why battlefury is a bad item on him.
Joel Mahon it's the same reason you get bf on kunka, not for farming mind you, but a good damage boost for team fights, since each of your SoF hits has it.
Purge I REALLY think you'll like earth spirit, that hero has such an insane amount of utility -- so many different ways you can combo his skills together
i've been playing earth spirit alot and i agree -- he is so rewarding too
Purge, your ingame sound really overpowers your voice sometimes! Especially when your hero talks or when stuff like creep spawn horn or a hero respawn sound happens!
Please turn it down some way or another :)
Warning: There's a bug in Dota 2 where you can't proc chain lightning while a chain lightning is already jumping between enemies.
Until this is fixed, it means that Ember spirit doesn't really get that much use out of Mjollnir/Maelstrom since you'll generally only get one proc max per Slight of Fist.

Purge, maelstrom doesn't really work in dota 2 because for some reason it can't proc until the first chain lightning is done bouncing. It still works in dota 1
Every time I've played ember spirit, the moment I finish my battlefury shit starts going nuts. I can't stop myself making it now, it's too good in my limited experience.
I played a few matches yesterday with Ember Spirit and I found that the Battle Fury gave me enough mana regen to be viable, although I felt as though it's damage was lackluster. It's not a terrible pick but it's not something I would recommend prioritizing at all.
You could also go for a lifesteal item, and sleight of fist becomes a self-heal. Vlads might not be bad for the armor and mana as well, probably better than madness or dominator.

I played ES one time and my lane opponent was not being aggressive at all and I had like 60 last hits by level 7... Never has a game ended so fast. Lol I love this hero
Shadowblade is imba too. Shadowblade attack > ensnare > shield > fists. Repeat kills on supports till max items.

I used to play battlefury - drums - desolator (and eventually daedalus if the game's long enough). I just tried a new build, going linken sphere - eye of skadi - desolator (and eventually daedalus). I like this build because it makes you a lot tankier, allowing you to be way more agressive, though it's expensive and you have to farm as safely as possible, keeping a fire remnant behind you all the time preventing ganks on you. Always look for easy ganks, getting some kills brings your levels and items way way faster. On the other hand, always be safe with a fire remnant backward: dying will make you very very late, thing that you cannot afford with the ember spirit. Concerning life steal options, I think this is a waste of money and time, because other items will be way more efficient, due to the fact that the ember spirit doesn't deal so much physical dps to make the life steal efficient.
No desolator with EoS, my bad, they don't stack.
Your build's worth a try, I knew Searing Chains weren't the best thing I need to have. I'm still gonna test some lategame builds though. Like maybe a Skadi, Daedalus, Basher, Desolator, and so on. there's just so many to try on! I really love finishing heroes with the Sleight of Fist, since it's just amazing, unless he got lucky.

It is a UAM but "despite the in-game description, Eye of Skadi can be combined with lifesteal Unique Attack Modifiers on melee heroes as well."

Yeah just in this game Kaolin Earth bro, did some cool saves for his team.
Purge unless they fix the interaction with Maelstrom, don't bother with it. Right now you cannot chain lightning while another is bouncing. Which means that you're only ever going to get 1 lighting per SoF.
Bfury is the best damage item for Ember.
The first one is mainly for increased farm (combined with shield), but once you get the second (and you have enough damage from skills that it doesn't matter how average 1 Bfury is), your SoF becomes a death machine. Seriously try it out and understand how damn good it is.
Also Purge you have no mana issues with 2x Bfury. And with 2x Bfury is when your SoF increases significantly in damage output.

Tip: You can cast Searing of chains while you slashing someone with sleight of fist.
In my opinion the level change in which the skills for ES scale the best is level 2-3 (dmg 120-240) for searing chains, level 3-4 for sleight of fist (cd 14-6) and level 1-2 for flameguard (damage block 50-200, 4x larger). I want to know if getting ult at level 11 is more important than maxing the other skills.
Starting items: Quelling blade,Tango,Salve and 3 iron branches
Mid game: Phaste boots,magic wand,perseverance.. then finish the battle fury get deadalus and RULE THEM ALL
Honestly, i've practiced a lot with ember spirit and regardless what my friends though i stuck with the build getting 3 battle furies obviously not all in a row, i get a crystalis after the first one then continue with the other 2, me and my friends ended up falling behind and after i got my 3rd battle fury ember spirit is a full on team fight hero being able to wipe an entire team, especially a chaos knight with his full ult and anyone with a manta style... the hp regen and mana regen from the battle furies makes his survival skills wonderful
Actually getting a crit is only worth it after 2 BF's, 2 BF's deal more damage than 1 BF and Daedalus

one annoying thing about ember is that searing chains is RANDOM nearby targets. as long as they are in the aoe, anything can get shackled. so creep huggers are safe from it
That's why you stand next to them with the fireshield on slashing them in the face. If it's a hero who can't kill you, particularly a hero who relies on one magic nuke (not enough to break flame guard) for their damage, as soon as they back off you chase and searing chain them and they die.
try to use it to set up a gank as a creep wave is incoming, its pure luck if the creeps are within range
Battlefury - Daedalus + Sleight of Fist + Dark Seer Vacuum = Win.
You start to see the potential of SoF at the second bf. 2 Hits + SoF = entire creep wave gone. This hero has the burst of a tiny early-mid (a wc3 tiny, I don't know but in dota 2 tiny doesn't seem to have the same dmg :P) and the late of a hard-carry.
Not sure if Purge watched my Pub game, but i had tried the item build he had said he saw on a pub game with drums, phase, maelstrom, daed, and bkb. Thus far my experience with ember spirit has been pretty good considering i have yet to have a terrible game with him considering i have lost a couple, but because of terrible team play. My name on steam btw is DarkChiron. But i tried the skill build of putting 1 into the searing chains and then alternating between the fists, 3rd skill and ult and maxing the searing chains last. Thus far my experience with it has been pretty good so if ur interested try it out, but i prolly will try the deso and daed after drums.
He is pretty fun the play, I got a 10 minute ultra kill that felt too easy, since I could just spam sleight of fist (I was lvl 8 and I had maxed it) and do huge early game damage of about 200 to every hero every six seconds, so 1000 team fight damage every six seconds, plus it became very hard to focus me down, also, it am shit with hotkeys so didn't level my ulti at all since I would always activate my flame guard instead of moving to a remnant becuase the icon is visually before my ultimate but the key is after, which I still can't get my head around :P
His name is pronounced 'Shin' not 'Zin'. You can hear him say his own name in the audiofiles so it's a silly mistake to make, Purge. The reason that 'x' becomes 'sh' is because his name is based off of Chinese pinyin spelling rules.
When the Chinese stop butchering English on US servers, I'll worry about how their names are properly pronounced. Kthxbi.

I think maelstrom is best bought if you're behind, so that you can at least contribute somewhat to the team fight. If you're snowballing hard then deso and crit is better because it scales better late game

I think you are wrong with the Battle Fury. I am a veteran Xin player, played hundreds of games with him (warcraft dota) and he is one of my favourite heroes.
You will not have mana problems in early/mid game, because instead of Phase, you buy Arcane boots. This will help you gank constantly from level 6. That's true you gonna lose some damage this way, but there comes the Battle Fury, as your next item, and the mana/hp regen comes very handly later on.
SoF won't do big cleave damage on the heroes, when you jump on the creeps, that's true, but at the same time, you mess their positioning up, because if they stand too close to each other you deal huge amount of damage on them, even if there's only 2 of them to each other.
After I got your Battly Fury, usually I go for double Crystalys to have a higher chance to cit them. The crit damage does not stack, that's true, but the cirt chance does. And that means a lot. Thansk to the +dmg from BF and SoF your crits will hurt the enemy team badly. After that I'm upgrading those Crystalys' to Daedalus for more crit damage.
Also, as you said, Deso is a really cool item on him as well!
Just a tip: you should start the fights/ganks with your SoF, in this video you used it 1-2 times, but since it has 6 sec cooldown, you could use it more often! ;)
Nah, Battlefury is a pretty poor choice compared to other items. It's 4,200 gold wasted for minimal cleave damage, that could be spent on deso, crit, or maelstrom for far better damage. Going bfury on Ember just isn't worth it, especially since Ember is a mid-game snowball hero, meaning that he won't even benefit that much from a bfury in the late game- in terms of farming or damage, since he peaks off with a really low stat gain.
BF will solve your man issues, since you gotta spam your SoF in every 6 secounds. IF you played a lot of games already you would know the best tactic is to spam the SoF and for that, you will need a lot of manaregen.
Also, cleave is awesome if you can catch at least 2 heroes in that radius! :)
Ofc Deso is jsut as good on him, but I don't really like the maelstrom, because you are not supposed to farm teh creeps with such a skillset, but to gank the enemy team constantly, after you reached level 6.
How about BattleFury? it will apply the cleave to each target nearby. So if you do it next to few minions and champs it can cleave for 35X13=455% damage AOE
Purge said in the video that mjollnir does NOT stack with daedalus. This is not the case as Daedalus is not a unique attack modifier at all, it is a passive.
No, he stated that you can't crit on the magic damage dealt as a seperate instance of damage, which is 100% true, and the two items do not synergize at all.

Got a BF on Ember in a safe farming lane, 13 - 15 mins, in a total 55 min game. The BF didn't really feel strong on the hero like other heros, he doesn't need it. His Flame guard allows him to farm jungle and lanes really fast as it is. I think its not worth it for the hero imo.
You dont get Battlefury for farming on Ember Spirit, you get it for the cleave on Sleight of Fist, and having 2 of them makes you able to kill an entire team if theyre bunched up with just 1 SOF
The thing about BF on him is you have to make sure you're using his SoF on multiple enemies and minion waves to get the most use out of it. In the two games I played and tested builds, the one I did BF on I ended up nearly one shotting three enemies by hitting them and an entire minion wave with my SoF.
All that cleave damage bouncing around can be unreliable if their spread too far apart, but if you catch them close it can be devastating.
Battlefury is actually very very useful on Xin. The regen helps a lot and the cleave is extremely good with Sleight of Fist. Due to his pretty good survivability: Sleight of Hand making him immune for a moment while also having an ability that takes away mobility, a magic shield and his ult. Choosing Battlefury over max health or mana pool can be a good choice when you have good reaction speed.
Having 2 Battlefuries actually helps a bunch during team fights as having them all bunched up together will do massive damage (potentially one shotting multiple heroes) and don't underestimate the cleave you get from hitting creeps.
I find him pretty easy to play honestly. His survivability is one of the bests I have seen yet and he has very high potential to cripple the enemy team completely on his own while instantly being able to escape using his ult after doing so.
Nah, a battlefury for Ember is actually really bad, especially bad as a first item since the cleave is very minimal and it will depend on the direction faced (which is not always reliable)- he also can't fill the #1 role, Ember being a a mid-game centric hero. The maelstrom or a crit will provide more damage, and a deso is a great addition as well. If you ever take it late, an item to increase health/armor/stats is valued above a battlefury as well, given Ember's terrible stat gain. Even a fourth or fifth item bfury may not be that great, as there are still so many more items to get on Xin that increase his potential as a snowball mid-game hero. It would be like stacking bfuries on Kunkka, not as effective as other items.
And Ember really is just that, a mid-game hero with pretty strong skills to make up for a really poor stat gain (thus meaning that he's squishy and will remain kinda squishy, depending on his flame guard to block magical damage, though he is of course weak to physical damage regardless and has poor base armor and stat growth)- meaning that you want to increase your potential as early on as possible, and battlefury just doesn't do that for heroes- it's a farming item primarily, and you don't want to sit around ricing and farming creeps on Xin.
As previously said, battlefury's cleave damage is so minimal it's not worth it to build early, because your physical damage will be too low to capitalize on it (much like how it's weak as a first item on PA/Void, but is used sometimes because they are good at farming and scale better, unlike Ember). And it's certainly never worth it to stack battlefuries given that you can buy much better items for the hero. Even with two battlefuries the cleave is truly quite weak, certainly so when compared to other items.
This isn't just my opinion, this is also the opinion of many professional players and casters, such as Wagamama, Draskyl, Singsing, Bruno, Purge, and so on and such forth.
As for his mobility, he is the same as all the other spirits, Storm Spirit, Ember Spirit, and Earth Spirit all being severely shut down and countered by Silences, Stuns, and such- because without their mobility, they just tend to melt. You may not play against great opponents at a higher MMR who know to do this, but it's certainly the case. If you try to initiate and put a flame remnant down expecting to be able to go back to it, and you are CC'd up with a silence/stun/etc, you are just going to straight up die without accomplishing much- the same going for initiating with a remnant. Ember is a little tanky against magic damage with flame guard, so he can survive a bit early on (though not as much later, due to really bad stat gain per level, going back to his skills somewhat covering it that, though not fully), but if they have any hard physical right clickers he is toast.
Getting lifesteal from vlads is pretty good bring up that hp fro survivability. And the bonus man regen is pretty good early game. Even Satanic is really good late game.
Your teammates just played so well in this one.
You should also consider Earth Spirit offlane!
Purge, I am curious to know what Blitz thinks of the new Storm Spirit model. Personally, I think it's amazing.

Do an Earth Spirit next Purge
entangle is a complete disable, you cant move or attack, you can't go invis and it cancels any channeling. So it's not the same as ember spirit's q.
The sound that his ult makes seems like a placeholder, lol. It's completely different than any other thing in the game.
purge i find that if u want to go battlefury build a quelling blade makes that so much stronger when they are near creeps
