Dota 2 Purge plays Juggernaut

- Juggernaut is a bit of a different carry because he sits a little closer to a semi-carry than a carry, which gives him a lot of power in the early game, which can be used for getting solo kills and snowballing that advantage.
This game I did a slightly different build(I usually go phase drum), in that I picked up an early soul ring to fill my mana gap, but mostly importantly have enough mana to spam healing ward, which will keep me alive versus the ion shell.
To further adjust my build, rather than just picking up a yasha, I made a SnY to fill in my low hp gap, and then followed it up with a damage item as I saw fit. I feel pretty strong on Juggernaut, so enjoy the game!

It's always exciting to see Purge play one of my favorite heroes, was kinda cool to see Jugg as a counter to DS and seeing flexible and adaptive play with the early soul ring, I thought you once said it was a cardinal sin to go to lane with the soul ring recipe but there's a time and a place for everything
that come back at the end was really good.

Oh god all those clutch plays by DK against that Pudge. At the brink of death so many times, yet constantly got away with a kill.
He actually makes a good point. When some carries (drow for example) does enough damage to kill a hero in split seconds, it doesn't really matter if you're getting heal over time. But then again getting healed over time outside of teamfights is great.
Jugg vs DS: Purge you just invented a new meta.
When I'm playing Juggernaut. I rush at the mid stages of the game for battle fury. Battle fury boost up your farm with some health and mana regen + mix of damages.

Naga. Her net goes through magic immunity(spin), her illusions can take a hit from the ulti, the negative armor is really good since while spinning he can only be right clicked. And, as a natural diffusal carrier, she ruins his already terrible mana pool.
Holy crap Purge's set is so damn badass.
Soul Ring is an exception because you can finish it in the Side Shop (Ring of Health and Sage's Mask) - buying the recipe first saves you having to use the courier when your teammates might need it.
I love the sound when the healing ward dies :D

Juggernoob combos - Crystal maiden, shadow shaman, dark seer, windrunner, skywrath... pretty much anyone with a slow, stun or shackle. They cast it on a hero and juggz spins them to death.
Exactly and the only way to force those fights is to push (or try a very early rosh). That's when his ult shines. The ult plus his spin gives him great diving potential and his ward is a great asset for pushing.
The problem is, if you 5 man to push and just get kotl waved back every time while 1-2 of their heroes split pushes or keeps farming your losing. You really have no other choice than to play passive, or wait until you have a gank opportunity (or split push if you have the heroes for it).
it's a soul ring recipe. The other components of soul ring can be bought from the side shop.
Dat end of the game stretch at the end. We can all relate
that was a pooled tango, if you activate you tango and left click on other allie, you pool only 1 tango to them. this can be done for each tango from other allies too. but there is cooldown to use pooled tangoes inbetween each usage. about 60 sec i think.
normal pooling doesn't work in the new patch now
I think he said "Maybe do it when you've randomed." The main argument against it was that you can't buy it in combination with enough regen and a stout to actually survive the lane.
In this case, he got shifted 2 tangos so he could get the salve and stout anyway, and still have gold left to finish the soul ring really quickly.
Plus, this specific situation called for it. He effectively countered Dark Seer.

I 100% agree with you, in most cases. But if its a 4 protect 1 strat, and the CM went mid, cause she can gank so powerfully, she can get a midas and let the other 3 supports pick up the slack, getting bigger utility items earlier such as a Sheep Stick, and with the earlier 4 minute ganking timing she can do, she can net kills for money to help the midas, but that is a very rare thing for a CM to do since everyone sees her as a lane babysitter.
Its a Heart of Tarasque duct-taped to a satellite dish on wheels-at its first level. You effectively tape on another half chunk of a Heart every level.

Played 5 Jugg games b2b, won all 5 with insane score (21-3, 17-2 etc) with Soul Ring + Ward and no passive
Success? 18 mins: Phase, Drums, Soul Ring, Poor Man's, Butterfly
If you paid any attention, the ward got denied because windrunner shot an arrow in that direction and therefore removing a couple of trees. This resulted in a clear path to said ward.

you get the soul ring recipe at the start because you can buy the rest of the ingredients on the side shop without having to b to base.
Watching the stream was 90% of: "Soul ring new meta!"
He had random gold, and it enables him to buy all the remaining components of the soul ring without having to use the courier, as they are available from the side shop.
If you DON'T have random gold, it would usually be quite inefficient to do this.
Purge needs to make a guide on how to build your hero: cosmetically.
Yeah I personally build a wand quite often with Jugg as early as possible, I find it replaces the need for a Soul Ring or other HP/Mana regen on him.
I like having a burst of health when running away sometimes, or a burst of mana when an occasion to kill arise but am too on mana to do anything.
Pop those charges and spin or omnislash for the win!

Battlefury on Juggernaut is similar to battlefury on brewmaster or chaos knight. Just because they have crit built in doesn't mean it's necessarily core. In fact, I think that going bfury on juggernaut completely disables where he excels best: mid game. The strongest builds for a harder semicarry like juggernaut or another example being kunkka, usually involves early survivability like a drum, mobility like phase, and one other larger item, for jugg I like ags, for kunkka, daedalus.
It's not the spin proccing it, the jugg can still right click while spinning. it only does damage to buildings, but those no damage right clicks will proc spins just like dodged attacks.
Drum is awesome, with a gyro + phase and yasha.
And not to mention he has his own critical strike that has an awesome animation which makes it worth it on its own... though aghs should make it to where his ulti has his crit chance on it :P

If you don't like last hitting under the tower, just run the creep wave around outside of the towers range. I mean, you were uncontested, had six armor, a PMS, and healing wards -- you can afford to take a few creep hits in situations like this.
You know it. His Jugg is pimp as all hell. Looks like he stepped out Dynasty Warriors or some sheeyit.
Ganking for him is pretty tough (at least at higher levels) unless you smoke or get a shadow blade. You have to expect wards being up and there aren't heroes a lot of heroes wandering around too far from their towers by that point. His main strengths are his his laning ability and his midgame pushing ability which is why I only recommended bfury if they enemy team has a lot of counterpush.
It's not his best option, but if it's the only one the enemy team gives you, so be it.

soul ring is a rare exception as you can get both of the other parts in the side shops and it's rather cheap. Buying the recipe before leaving means you don't have to use the courier before 3 minutes to finish your soul ring which is even more important now that you literally cant get a flying courier before the three minute mark. There are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule. Being a good player is understanding what these exceptions are and knowing when you can get away with it.
You read the notes wrong, it gives people a separate item, it doesn't stop the pooling completely.

Uh, Healing ward is actually a percentage based heal so it scales lategame really well.
I believe that was directed to people with less experience with the game, and to people thats not confident at last hitting. Other than that, you can save TOOONS of time, because you can buy the rest of the components at the side shop.

Instead of the Soul Ring, might it be better to go for a Oblivion Staff? Sure it costs more but it gives the stats he needs and it's easy to buy in pieces. It also opens up the possibility of Orchid later.

Short answer no.
It's a bit like gondar with bf, might be legit in pub games but if you're playing competitively, that build's not optimal. You'll have no mana problems with jango+magic wand+1 support with arcane. If you want damage, go desolator next. The only time you might want to consider going for bf is if you have illusion heroes like pl in enemy team. Jugger is just a semi-carry, best not to play him as a main carry farming all day.
P.S. Purge should've got magic stick in this game.
I feel like either battle fury or drum are better builds since mana regen is so crucial on jugg. Still, soul ring worked way better than I thought it would. Maybe pick up stat levels instead of the last 3 crit levels to remedy it?

Hi purge, i've been a follower of all your videos and am very thankful for showing us different ways to play each dota hero. I will be trying out this juggernaut build.

I've seen Axe do well against a jug, because he can helix proc on Juggernaut's spin.

You read patchnotes enough to see that you can't give somebody a set of tangoes but missed the fact that you can use tangoes on somebody else to give them 1?
Yosharian still has a point. Late game is much more volatile and more situations will arise when it will do jack shit. If the time it takes to nuke someone from full hp to zero gets shorter then healing ward will have less time to heal you. And thats generally how dota scales regardless of armor.

You could very well be right. I am at the top end of normal/bottom end of high, and when I do play Jugg, I am able to get my ult on solo targets quite easily due to the usual lack of wards or communication. I could imagine higher levels of play would make that a lot harder.
I guess you would simply have to force early-mid game team fights at level 11 to really take advantage of it.
I am surprised Purge didn't build wand early in the game.
Because Dark Seer was there Offlane Hero.Its like that if u play a lot of Dota and stuff you know which hero is going to go on which lane :D.
Soulring and Sange and Yasha is actually better than Drums alone. Soulring solve your mana problems while Sange and Yasha solve your survivability and ms.

was really frustrating to watch purge upgrade stout shield into poor mans shield against a seer, while not getting magic wand even when he had 2 slots empty for quite some time.
If my memory serves me right, soul ring does 150 HP removal and that doesn't do fatal damage.
Well it could be a combination of he can get the whole item faster if he doesn't have to wait for the courier as well as how many tangos (shared) that he was pooled, meaning he doesn't need the ring of regen (and it's shitty 2 hp regen), and ontop of that he doesn't need the sage mask either because the mana regen is bad to start with on a jugg anyway since he won't cast much early on.
TL;DR - The other parts of the item suck (and can be bought at the side shop w/o using courier)
step 1 for effective lategame jugg:
1-go satanic + bkb + damage item
2- press R
3- activate bkb, drop ward, press A and click enemy hero.
4- micro ward so it doesnt die. forget about your hero.
5- watch the opossing team trying to kill you and failing.
6- win
When I look at it, it helped him early game with harassment(and the huge mana cost with blade fury), he probably decided that they were ahead enough that he didnt have to sell it and he just ignored it

Is a midas bad on Jugg if you can get it and your phase by 12 minutes?
definitely should have gone quelling over stout shield to start against a dork seer. the shield is for under tower during pulls but with quelling you would have almost bought the shield after the first wave. also, always get phase drum for jug. it's too strong early game

i think i might start getting soul ring when i play Slark. I always run out of mana, but due to his ulti passive i rarely run out of health.
For the majority of the early/midgame the amount of autoattacks while omnislashing will be 2-4 at most, thus the amount of 'cleave hits' you will get on sidetargets is pretty low (3 cleave hits at ~150 damage*0.35 = about 140 damage? if you're lucky). If you want to improve Omnislash damage, buy armor-reducing items. It's pretty straightforward. Autoattacks while omnislashing only get really good when you get a bunch of attack speed items like a Butterfly or an Assault Cuirass, or even a MoM.
coz you can farm up pretty quickly for either sobi mask or ring of health in the side shop to finish it there instead of using courier for that, which other people might need more that you at that moment. I'd have taken sobi mask instead of dat salve tho
it's situational bub. that's all. gotta read the game layout and make the decision. bfury increases your farm by a significant amount and makes you a little more mana independent. It's also a decent counter for heroes like pl and brood. jugg scales pretty well to the late game if you can farm the items and keep pressure on their towers with healing ward
when the tango was given by one of your teammates for you, and you can just give 1 now and most part of the healing items are now more expensive but is good because the game now need more ability to last hit and kill to gte money, well tangos... XD
I think it has to do with Jugg's skills not lending themselves completely to the hard Carry roles. There are plenty of "true" carries who will do the job better. His only skill that scales well is his crit, while his bladefurry becomes more of a quasi-escape mechanism because the damage doesnt 'cut' it anymore (sorry about that) late game. You extend his Ults late game damage by getting Aghs, I think that's why you see it a lot. He's also still kinda squishy. I still do play him hardcore carry.
what do you think about maelstrom? you can get the chain lightning while spinning or omnislashing. even though auto-attacks do no damage, it would add some magical damage as well as attack speed/damage.

he bought recipe as starting item as he could buy the other 2 components from the side shop and wouldnt have to waste his time/ his teams time flying the items out to him he couldnt get the recipe from the side shop this was the best way to start it may contradict one of his previous videos but this was a very situational pick up of a very cheap recipe that was worth it
