Zeus was buffed again in this latest patch! His aura aoe increased slightly, so his teamfight damage output is slightly increased.
I've seen some people trying support Zeus in scrims and things, but largely Zeus is still played as a mid hero. I got a really good start this game, and had to deal with an over fed Phantom Lancer, so this should give you guys a general idea on how to combat PL. Aoe is a necessity, armor/damage block/ghost scepter help a lot.
The general best way to play Zeus is with some mobility items, some mana regen, a bottle, and then work towards an Aghanihms Scepter followed by a Refresher. This lets you output a massive 1200 magic damage per enemy hero and depending on the matchups you can force them to start the fight with below 50% hp.

A daily pub game would've been riki not saying anything and insisting on mid while AM screams cyka blyat in mic and then proceeding to feed all while he continues to scream in mic,switching between insults in rus and telling everyone else how they are noobs. Maybe he'd throw in some spam pings on people across the map because they didn't dive tier 2 at 4 minutes.
Not usually the case in the 1000+ games bracket.
I guess you preffer do not have courier and wards, you knwo becauseof the classic excuse "im the carry you are the support buy the courier and the wards" you meant to say "my daily scrub pub games"

I think aghs is probably one of the most overbought items on zeus. You're better off getting a veil or a utility item like a force or sheep if it's later. Hell even refresher is better. You're spending 4200 gold on 165 damage item. Sure it gives you tankiness but there are a lot of better items that do just that.
165x5 = 825 damage.
Yeah but veil amps your ult to do a similar amount. Also it increases the damage of all your other spells and spells from other teammates. Also veil is a hell of a lot cheaper.

I mean usually when making itemization choices you don't think about how to better kill people in their fountain. If they aren't able to be in veil range then odds are the enemy is not defending the objective in the teamfight. If you're attending all fights and someone gets away after you popped all your spells then odds are you wouldn't have killed them anyway since the aghs outputs less dps than the veil. Also I want to emphasize, veil helps your whole team.

32:50 no Diffusal Blade doesn't burn twice the mana Purge. It always burn 25 mana now in 6.82. The recipe is cheaper and only provides stats upgrade.
Wanna know what I think would be a fitting nerf to PL, and all other illusion heroes?
Make truesight reveal illusions (show them in their blue/golden model.)
I mean, truesight is supposed to see the truth, right? Making it counter all deceptive abillities, and not only invis would be pretty fitting with the theme.
Whole point of illusions if to avoid specifcally THAT. Its like riki without invi, its much easier, but then they'd have no use. At least no need to by dust for every PL gank

Lethanial You still have to get the gold, and you won't exactly stop his army of catmen by just seeing which one is real, especially with his new "shuffle." The whole point of Invis is to not be seen too, but there is still a mechanic to counter that. Why shouldn't there be a mechanic to counter an army of blue lion men thingies.

Totally different from my usual build. As a mid Zeus I go bottle > arcanes > veil of discord > aghanims > refresher. As a side lane Zeus I might get a soul ring instead of bottle, especially with the new bloodstone recipe requiring a soul ring, I see that as a buff to the item for any high mana requirement heroes like Zeus, you can later disasemble your arcanes and and combine with the soul ring, Soul ring being useful for just dewarding, it's so useful never having to buy sentries, makes him a decent support.
Yo, Purge, I love the videos, but in the video description you forgot to factor in the base 25% magic resist of heroes when doing a Zeus ult. If you get an aghs, which you did, 25% of 640 for example is 160 damage reduced, meaning 320 damage reduced for an aghs/refresher ult, equaling 960 damage in total for the aghs/refresher combo. Even more so reduced if they have a cloak, hood, or a pipe.
It's also been pointed out that aghs is heavily overbought, since it only gives you 165 additional damage per hero, which isn't that worth given how much you spend on it. If you buy a force staff, a blink, and a euls, suddenly you have so much mobility and control in fights to get multiple bolts off for a lot more damage- you also aren't reliant nearly as much on your ult to be useful if you do this, and become more elusive. A veil can also be great for the damage if you can apply it (for you and allies), and Refresher before Aghs is also better.
All that aside, great video man, keep up the great work. :]

Purge chose aghs because of his very good start. lvl 1 ult aghs is a 200 damage bonus. This would allow him to have a strong presence because he got aghs early in laning phase. But considering he ended up getting it at 12 minutes the force staff would have been a better choice and possibly a refresher or veil.
And to this day, Purge still cries out at night, screaming for the 9 min Aghs that got away.
Also no, diffusal burn amounts remain the same across both levels, it was changed in this update. Instead the only thing that changes is the agility by a lot more than it used to

That reaction to the triple kill in the early game made me giggle.
Personally I get 2-3 clarities and rush bottle while last hitting with Q. Missing last hits becomes nigh impossible and you need a lot of rune control - so it's quite viable with the bounty runes being in the game and all.
Purge, this is a team based game, you lose as a team, you win as a team, everyone knows that. Its a 'we' not 'he' or 'they' if PL is fed, you cannot blame someone because its your team's fault and not just one person, you fed him too, but you keep saying they fed him too much, DotA 2 needs a much better community and conducive to new and not as good players because this is a game, its for everyone, not just 'pro' and 'people who think they are pro' people like you purge. If you guys thinks Luna is feeding, its your fault because you guys didnt help her, Zues is a strong support while Luna is a carry, shes so squishy early but you guys didnt care, and you purge just kept saying her while you keep staying at mid. This is the end of me liking you Purge.
I really wish this were 100% true, and believe me, I get tired of Purges salt at times to, but sorry, this is false, as anyone who's played the game can tell you. Sure, Purge could have ganked more (remember how much harm that did in this video.) but there's no accounting for just plain bad playing. You can only help a bad player so much.

Mizonrhu Bjarun actually as somebody who plays both games avidly i would say they are both just as bad, yes league has alot of flamers and stuff but at least people respond, in almost all of my dota games i start out asking people where everybody is going cuz i can play anything, only to have not a soul respond, then they will get all pissed if i pick a mid hero because they wanted mid all along but dont say a word until the game starts, and the players in both games flame just as bad. so as much as i love playing mobas the community for both games sucks
The community improves a lot as you get to higher skill levels.

Phantom Lancer is now just too fucking OP. Every game I played against him, he wrecked everybody and got godlike killing sprees. Fuck this hero!
He became a snowball hero, like Ember Spirit or Silencer. Your team feeds him, you lose. PL isn't OP, your team just sucks.
Purge, you need to stop saying diffusal 2 burns more mana, it doesn't. Diffusal 2 ONLY gives extra agility. It still only burns 25 mana per hit.
I mean PL did dive past the ancient like 3 times instead of getting the rax. It wasn't just the storm and bs.

I'm a bit of a new player and I have a question, as I was playing Zeus I found that in the late game the three carries on the other team had gotten magic resistant items like cloak and other stuff so that my attacks did so little damage I was useless. What damage items are good to get for Zeus in the late game?
Zeus doesnt damage through his right click, his range is crap, agi crap, and attack animation is crap. Zeus deals damage through his nukes and Ult. If enemies get things like Pipe against you your contribution is minimised. Try to finish off the supports early as a Zeus. It matters a lot to have the supports dead.
In this case, I think veil would have been good after force to really bump up the aoe against PL.

Probably a Peruvian player, blaming PL for the loss, even though PL was the only one the radiant team had to fear. The slang words and the conduct he used (Blaming another guy for his lackluster play) is consistent with the stereotype that has become widely known and reviled amongst the DOTA2 player community. He's also complaining that PL isn't speaking Spanish, meaning that either:
1) PL can speak Spanish but that he didn't want to/felt ashamed to talk it (least likely)
2) BS thinks he's on a Latin Server and doesn't know why people are talking in English on said servers(you'd be surprised how often this happens)
i am actually curious if riki could be used as a support if he could it would not be tier 1 but might actually work in pubs and stuff

Zeus is so imba with scepter refresher combo.... combo so sexy too though.
Zeus is in no way "imba" lol. Aghs/refresher isn't even as strong as if you were to get multiple bolts off on people (buying force, dagger, euls, etc)- aghs is only an upgrade of 165 damage for 4200 gold. On average, the aghs/refresher combo will do 960 damage when factoring in 25% magic resist, even less damage if you buy a cloak, hood, or a pipe. Casual cloaks are sexy against Zeus. Also, the whole reason Zeus isn't seen too heavily is because he's easily gankable, and whoever is against him in lane generally gets free farm. Magic wand is also very good against Zeus because of all the free charges you will get from chain lightning spam.
Would have liked to have seen what a crimson guard active would have done against that pl.

Storm Spirit and Zeus have really similar attack animations.
if you could try out earth spirit with aghanim's that would be awesome. right now, i'm not entirely sure how useful it is, and i haven't found any guides or things on how effective aghs is on ES.
It's rather intensive and quite difficult to play ES with aghs because the teammates will expect much more from you if you are to bought that.

Think PL should have gotten a BKB? Doesn't really matter if the enemey team knows which one is real if you owned all their physical dps and it's zeus that's killing you. I feel like PL is much more about staying alive himself now rather than his illusions.
After Riki got his abyssal, he started owning 2. If pl's only task was to counter Zeus then the other cores would have been able to shut him. Remember: moon glavie (Luna's "cleave") + BF owns illusions
I think if the pl would not have been owned by the Zeus the game could have been over before the riki game online. And riki would not have gotten all the aoe gold and exp.

Yeah, I know. My point is, that in the mid game it did not matter if they know which is the real one, cause the only one killing him was the Zeus. And Zeus who sees a big golden PL running towards him won't do anything. ;)
Can someone tell me why Vlads is bad on PL?
I think it's great, especially in a PUB game where you would most probably need to jungle without going back to base.
I get Vlads all the time on PL, and it works very fine unless your team feeds. Is it really that bad on him?
the reason its not picked up is because as PL you should be picking up items that help your illusions, so items like diffusal blade, your illusions can proc the passive of it, or like heart where your illusions get the tankiness, getting a vlads helps your individual sustain, but doesnt help illusions (i think, even if it does apply the LS the illusions dont live long enough to make it worth it you might as well just make them very tanky with heart and butterfly as opposed to give them alot of sustain)
Thanks for the advice, but I really think a fast Vlads gives you more time to sustain both in lanes and jungle. But of course, all you said is right.

This is the problem with Dota 2's ranked play. I don't get how what's supposed to be the most hardcore and competitive moba, has the most casual ranked play. I mean these picks were shit and to see this happen in a good elo is embarrassing. If those type of bad picks were made in any other moba someone would be getting chewed out for it, but in Dota it's so common. More importantly, even after the update, All Pick shouldn't even be an option for ranked, All Pick is for casual play. Gameplay wise I prefer Dota over any other Moba, but their ranked play is lacking in many ways.
the reason is that almost every hero in dota can play multiple roles, while in league of legends alot of heroes are reserved to the role they were created for, leading to much more strict matches, more rigid game play, and because of the fact that theres a persistent lvling system in something like league and they have runes and masteries people want to pick the champs they make these pages for, in dota thers none of that so actually hitting the random button is incredibly common
