  • This is my first time out testing my home made suppressor (form 1). I'm testing it on a 223/556 mm bolt action. The gun is a Ruger American Ranch and the optic is a Niko Stirling. My next video will be some sub-sonic 223 rounds through this setup. I've actually already filmed that and in the process of editing. Subscribe so you're notified when that comes out!

    Turns out the concept of a suppressor isn't very mind boggling! I got to the testing phase of my integrally suppressed barrel chasis for my Daisy 880. Air rifles are completely unregulated! The suppressed version was 19 decibels less than the unsuppressed version. At 10 yards was still able to achieve a one inch group! Still have a ways to go, but now it's all cosmetic!

    Hi, I just subscribed. I have a Ruger mini-14 Ranch tactical that I'm looking to put a suppressor on. Did you make a video on how you made yours? I looked, but didn't see it. Thanks!

    Thanks a bunch for this video and your previous video detailing your Form1 build!
    You chose a can diameter similar to what i have in mind...i think i wanna try a 2in OD can.
    Two questions:
    1. Is one allowed to change the can internals? Say go from the round baffles to something more “K” shaped or funnel shaped?
    2. Have you tried increasing number of baffles/decreasing number of spacers?

    • @ZachTries
      @ZachTries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t experimented with different shaped baffles yet. But that’s a good idea. And the baffles are kinda heavy, so I really didn’t want to add any more. I did try a few less, and the difference was negligible.

      @@ZachTries thanks for the response Zach! Have you tried shooting a .30cal or higher caliber than .223? If so how is the result?

    • @ZachTries
      @ZachTries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shooterreadyschannel9254 I haven't yet! Right now I don't have any rifle bigger than 223. Had to trade away the 308 to get a shotgun for waterfowl. But hopefully that'll be the next testing.

      @@shooterreadyschannel9254 once you shoot through the suppressor it's finished, you'd need to send it to an SOT to have any baffles changed unless you filed a new form for each part, ATF is strict on the subject

    Any baffle strikes?

    • @ZachTries
      @ZachTries  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just realized I never posted a video with that! I actually hand filed two of my 22s and hand thread them both. They still work great, shoot straight, and no baffle strikes yet! haha thanks for watching!

      Hey Justin. Thanks for watching! And it was honestly a mix of luck and research. The fact that those plugs outer diameter was exactly the same as the inner diameter of the tube was really a miracle. Check out my other video where I go into more detail!

    Hey Zach, I like your video. I have a Savage 223 Precision and I need a silencer for it. I figure since you can build one you might know which commercial silencer is the quietest. I will be target shooting supersonic if I ever get one. Any recommendations? Thanks. Paul

    • @ZachTries
      @ZachTries  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. I actually have 0 experience with commercial supressors. Weird I know. haha. I am looking into getting one, but personally I'm looking to get a multi-caliber can that I can put all my rifles all the way from my 300 win mag down to 556.
      I figured if you're going to pay that much, it better do just about everything.

      @@ZachTries I think we are on the same page. I have since purchased a multi-caliber Silencerco Omega 300. Good for 30 caliber down to 223. I have a 223 savage axis precision and a 300 Blackout savage axis II with a 22" heavy barrel in an MDT chassis. I should receive it in anywhere from 1 to 4 more months.

    Nice job....my RAR556 is way too loud....I found a decent node at approx 2600fps, 18.6@H4198.....makes single shots okay during hunting situations....suppressing is not an option for me...tho it makes a great walking coyote gun...
