Remember if something is illegal, it’s illegal. Now if something is illegal unless you pay someone that’s extortion.
Totally agree-always follow the law! 👍
@@WeLikeShooting oh no I mean its totally lawful in my eyes and the constitution to own a suppressor without paying the government, those MF need checked.
You are wise.
There's just something about the government knowing I have a silencer that bothers me
Exactly
How else could they tax you and future ownsers of the thing then?
Lets just say it: ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
I don't like them knowing i even exist.
The Government: YOU WILL NOT BE SILENCED!
OP: Daaaw thanks.
And the fact it’s ILLEGAL unless you pay them which is extortion.
I'll treat suppressor registration with the same urgency as a folding brace.
Hell, I've made a suppressor out of a corncob for a Marlin 22 rifle years ago! All you could hear was the bolt working back and forth! Took about 15 rounds to shoot out before needing another cob!😊 But it sure worked. Cheap also!
Interesting
How did you secure it to the muzzle?
Great, ATF is gonna go after corn now!
They should sell these as "Hearing Protectors" . That should get rid of the "Gov.Tax"
👍
Yeeeeeeeeeeees!!!!!!
We have to sue them first to get rid of it but I feel it's not to far off from happening.
Having the production devices “regulated” to discourage the use of silencers seems silly. The reduction of damaging noise to nearby people is a Good Thing.
Yup
Funny how I got an oil and air filter advertisement after watching this video 😂

@daviddeck6109 yup

You can get a smaller can. Just get on google and put in the size oil filter you want. They do make 1 1/2 -2 inches by 6 inch oil filter that are a lil slimmer. And they do make oul filter with metal innthem instead of the card board studf coated stuff or whatever the normal stuff is.
Some states now allow you to make your own suppressors legally, provided you don't take them across state lines or sell/give/loan them to others.

Yes, because I just saw a video where a WIX oil filter was used very well as a suppressor.
The reason why we are supposed to bow to the crown is people like you keep doing it

The self snitching epidemic is out of control. I hope you don’t own dogs.
The reason we have laws and and law enforcement is the people who refuse to grow up, live in an organized society, and obey the laws. If you don't like the laws, work to get them changed. It is not fast or easy, but we have a system where it does work.
@@BryanTorok the system is broken. It has become about revenue generating and subjugation.
@@ArmyVet98958 I agree the system is not perfect. But, it does work. In 1999 a friend approached me about starting a group to change the gun laws in Ohio. In a little over 20 years we went from CCW being completely illegal to having a license law and now to having permitless carry. Politics socks and is often corrupt, but it's the best system we have.

Yep, it's older footage! 🕰️
What do you mean? Like they don’t have the authority to arrest you for breaking the federal law?
In many countries with laws that make owning or bearing a firearm very difficult, owning a suppressor/silencer for your firearms is easy and, in fact, encouraged by the government. This is true in the UK, where using a silencer is just deemed polite and considerate.

Clip/magazine, bullet/cartridge, be a semantics Nazi and alienate people just to show off. You give people in the gun culture a bad name. And, using all caps is really juvenile.
@@brucesweatman2146 Would his comment be better if he did it in caps lock like yours?
net wrap in a water bottle works fine
The only positive might be the price, but why would you use it if it is hard to see around. That’s the biggest drawback to me
Yeah it was pretty rough. Shooting with both eyes open will create an overlay and help see past it but using magnified optics kind of takes that away
There are plenty of slender filters out there, that will not interfere with the sights.
The whole oil filter silencer was made popular because it’s a homemade silencer it’s not a fancy military one.. so people who needed to silence their shots but couldn’t have real silencers would use these instead. It’s not meant to be fired from too far away it’s meant for close distance shots where you don’t need to aim so much.
Once again, like in most things, people with land - property, with space & privacy - WIN. If one were inclined to make a silencer of their own, be it a cheap PVC & steel wool type or a solvent trap or oil filter device, if you're shooting the gun in your own barn, for example, and a generic security system prevents people from accessing your property without your knowledge beforehand, why would they worry? It actually goes both ways. The suppressor doesn't leave the person's property, authorities can't access the property without a warrant, so hear no evil, see no evil?
What about a person who has an airgun & a house with a makeshift range, and decided to build their own suppressor, to innovate? The suppressor never leaves the basement. Who's the victim?
If the entire EU allows & even recommends suppressors and they're some of the best societies on the planet, why is the gov't of either USA, of all places, so intent on regulating them? I'm not talking liberal vs conservative nonsense, I'm talking logically. Why are private citizens restricted in what they do with their guns' decibel levels? In Canada, it's illegal for anyone to even try to suppress any airgun, even the ones getting < 500fps. Every request for reasons, to the gov't from hunting & shooting orgs, is a patronizing "no".
Is it poaching they're worried about? Is it discrete pistols hampering police work? Why not allow them only on a range, where a range officer can store it & you check it out for ONLY your session? I'm getting a hunting rifle soon (eastern Canada) and I want at least a 30-06, but maybe a 6.5PRC or 7mm. Most ranges near me restrict their rifle range to .308 and under. Why is it that shooters are trying to simply be good neighbors & putting cans on their higher caliber rifles? How am I supposed to even get good at shooting, let alone zero my scope, if I have to drive 2hrs to the worst range on earth with crap hours? The condescending NO we get every time we offer compromise is infuriating. This is why I respect & admire people finding innovative, discrete ways to make their guns quieter - again, in private, who cares what people do, as long as they aren't hurting anyone?
U can also get one from Napa n make ur own
Oil can supressors are cheaper but they obstruct the sight line.
True, they're budget-friendly but can block your view! 🤔
One major problem is the content of the filter, paper. It burns
Oil filter suppressors are amazing and cost effective 😂
The quiet part of the oil filter will be good for a short period, due to the gasses ripping the filter material from each shot fired, but yes all I could hear was the action from the gun, click, click . a nice muffler for your gun , the great thing is, there is no reason to have hearing protection as you don't need it, but our beloved government frowns on any furniture you may add to your gun, so if we make cars quiet, why not guns , would make sense.
The other part is being taxed for something you already paid a tax on, sounds illegal as hell as that was one of the reasons for the American revolution, no double taxation, and we had the Boston tea party over a 2 cent tax.
How sad as we have forgotten the founding principles of this nation, to stop government abuse of power, and here we are today , having to fight for a right we all have just for being natural citizens of this nation.
The folks in government forget once you have taken everything we stand to lose and have nothing else to lose, the shit hits the fan , and all bet are off.
Sad times we live in !
Stay well and you all be safe out there !

If a weapon was built with an adapter permanently installed surly that would negate the need for it to be serialized. Like one doesn't need to serialize a bayonet lug for a bayonet longer than the legal limit. (then again bayonets are a state thing)

We shouldn't need to file anything to own a silencer period. The government should just piss off. It's ridiculous that anyone needs to register their silencer (even an oil filter) to make their gun quieter.
Nope, not yet! It is still in the courts. Your attempt to build one in TX is still up in the air, and NOT yet legal so say the feds. This law will not protect you from federal prosecution. TX & ATF still fighting in court.

The easiest way to get a safe, effective, suppressor, is to cancel the NFA and disband the ATF. Done.

Agreed they kinda suck
There are no good 556 cans because 556 is always supersonic. It's a round that relies on velocity.

There it’s a difference between “not working” and “reduced effectiveness”. Suppressors “work” regardless just at different efficacy. And I have 40+ silencers, so I know from personal experience as well.

It always baffled me why you need to do the expensive paperwork JUST to let the government know you have a silencer?!? Are you going to invite the ATF to be present when you "need" to use it? Just make it, use it, meet your goal, hide it or throw it away. Which is (the 'throw it away') what makes the oil filters so appealing. Btw, the filter material will start deteriorate after extensive use but it will not be blown back in the chamber, why these m.o.r.o.n.s always say that (as a scare tactic maybe) I have no clue. True, it works best with the small calibers, i.e. a 22LR subsonic is for practical purposes inaudible, all you hear is the rifle mechanism cycling. Just inspect the filter's insides every so often. Come on, that's a no brainer, did not need a YT video for all this.
