  • My brother and I go head to head over 2 different choices when it comes to the Ruger Rancher.
This is an zeroing/first shots video. I’m amazed at how shootable these rifles are. There is quite a bit of hype over these firearms and they deserve every bit of it.
With a little practice and some decent ammo you could easily pull sub MOA.
Did I mention it weighs less than 6lbs before optics.
This would make an ideal bush gun for hunting medium/large game depending on the caliber you choose.
Please hit that like and subscribe to show your support for our channel.
    Thanks for watching.

Just picked up my 5.56 rifle, And put a normal red dot since most of my shots are mid range and I enjoy a faster sight alignment. Definitely accurate and fun rifle.
    I’ll subscribe my good man!

Why buy just one lol, I think the 7.62x39 is really the best version, insanely accurate for what it is but then again I have a thing for the Soviet round.
Thanks for the sub, very much appreciated.

Great rifles, it’s cool to see 2 brothers talking guns; I hope my young sons are just like that when they get older! I would’ve done the same optic on the 7.62 gun and I would’ve either went Athlon Helos 2-12 or a Trijicon credo 3-9 for the 5.56. I have both calibers since I own ar’s/ak’s but considering one of these as a 1st rifle for the boys. Florida deer are small with close shots so either would work but I can’t decide! Thanks for the vid!!

Thank you so much for those kind words.
Personally I think the 7.62x39 is a fantastic caliber for deer, right at that 130 grain sweet spot. The rifle is easy to shoulder and great for youth HIGHLY recommend.
I took a 10 point whitetail with this very rifle (Hornady Black).
Get one or two or three even you won’t de disappointed. With the Gen 2 out there might be some great deals on the Gen 1😁

I have both those rifles. Both wearing 4-12x40 Bushnell's. The 7.62x39 has a 4inch aluminum linear compensator. Shooting wolf 124 gr. Hp military classic 1/2 inch groups. The 5.56 has a 2inch steel linear compensator shooting Ammo Inc 60 gr. Vmax 1/4 inch groups. Best 2 rifles I've ever owned.

Fantastic rifles!!! After deer hunting season I might put a bigger scope and see what I. An squeeze out of it.
Love the 7.63x39 in this setup it is lights out and a perfect bush gun. Best of all it doesn’t care about the ammo.

Got the 7.62, will be getting the 5.56 for sure. Yours is one of many positive videos I've seen on it. There's a good dude here in the US that makes a really nice magazine adapter for the 7.62/AK Magpul PMags. Not sure if I can plug him here though, don't want to hijack your video.

Appreciate the feedback and you will love the 7.62x39, seems to be about perfect for that Ruger rancher. One of the main reasons I picked up the rifle was to see if it lived up to the hype, boy does it.
Unfortunately we in Canada cannot posses AK47 magazines that are capable of holding more than 5 rounds so our best bet is the mini-30 magazines.
You can of course mention the manufacturer for my US viewers, I don’t mind sharing useful resources.
      Thanks for watching

Just got mine in 556! I have a bunch of 20 round Pmags that work great in it. I put a 30mm truglo red dot on it and I love it. It's getting a bipod next. Great value at 600 even

These rifles have been around for a while, and people are still excited about them.
I prefer the looks of the gen 1 to the gen 2.

What’s not to get excited about, light, relatively precise and affordable.
      I haven’t had my hands on a Gen 2 being Canadian 🥲

Hi from BC interior last 4/5 years had the 223 ruger ranch first not a bad rifle a little clunky but accurate , and a little front heavy but cheap enough decent plinker ,a year later got the same rifle in 7-62 x39 it was a little more accurate than the 223 lots of fun with both ,but needed a accurate totaly reliable balanced short carbine rifle for mule deer black bear couger in the winter on those long long walks in the backcountry so opted for the cz 527 in the walnut version in 7-62x 39 for close to hundred yard max hunting range luv that 7-62 x39

I love the ranchers, yes they are clunky and very mechanical regarding the sound….the stock feels cheap and so on but damn they shoot really well.
I really think the 7.62x39 is the very best version of the Rancher, I used mine this year for a white tail hunt and through brush took down a 10 point that didn’t make it 50 feet. I think I have an unhealthy obsession with the Soviet round. It is ideal for where I hunt. I may look into the cz, they have a fantastic reputation and like I said 7.62x39 rocks. 😜

I tried to order the mag well for the 5.56 to use in the x39 so I could run xcr pistol mags in it but gravel industries or whoever the ruger rep in Canada was said they couldn’t get it. I have seen some chatter online that people have managed to get them after I tried.
I like mine other than I’m lefty and I end up forgetting to move my left thumb off the stock when I rack the bolt with my right and chew it up every time. I put a couple boxes of PPU brass through it the first time out and had lots of failures to fire. Thought maybe I bought a lemon.
Fed her some of Maos finest steel cased corrosive copper wash from 1975 and it ate it up and spit it out. Also put some steel cased Barnaul through it no problem. Have like six boxes of Barnaul and we’ll never see that stuff again so I’m not wasting it.
No idea why it didn’t like boxer primed brass PPU and liked the hard berdan primed stuff, my sks doesn’t discriminate and eats it fine.
Only reason I bought the ruger was I thought they were going to ban the sks. Looked for a Howa 1500 for ages but couldn’t find one and local crappy tire had the ruger so I bought it. Immediately saw an x39 Howa like three days later lol still no regrets with the RAR

I’ve seen a few conversion kits for the Ruger even a DIY, not sure how I trust myself enough not to mess that up, availability for parts in Canada sucks!!!!
Too bad we can’t get the Ruger 10 round mags here.
Believe me they will still find a way to ban the SKS.
As for the Rancher….love it and IMHO it’s better than the HOWA. My favourite by far is the 7.62x39 it’s perfect albeit a bit clunky in the action. Any rifle that shoots sub MOA with 1-6 scope is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

      @theguywithbeardgunsandgear  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

My SKS hates AE brass and has multiple failure to extract, has no problem with cheap PMC.

@@theguywithbeardgunsandgear I’ll have to try pmc if I find some. The corrosive is awesome but kinda worry a bit about it even though I cleaned it good. Wouldn’t be easy to clean if some residue got in the bolt which I’m sure it does

Ive seen people shoot sub-moa and hit almost 600 yards on a regular basis with steel casing ammo... this is a sub-moa rifle out of the box depending on the operator... Even at 1 moa you cant beat that with a 5.56 at 600 yards

    • @theguywithbeardgunsandgear

Why not both? I have the the 7.62x39 version and right now you can get them right now for $340 after rebate, soooo 5.56 is going to be on the way!

      @theguywithbeardgunsandgear  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I agree that both are great, I would love to one in every caliber. I think Ruger really hit a home run with these light and compact shooters.
I guess the only thing stopping me is budget and I already have a few 5.56 rifles.
      Thanks for watching

Can you guys still get Tula 154 soft point ( 762x39)
It may give you even tighter groups than the 122 123 124grn offerings.

The only SP I was able to find was some Sellier and Boulot, federal and 2 boxes of Hornady. The ammunition situation here is sad.
I’ve only got a 1-6 zooms mounted on the 7.62x39, it’s my deer bush gun. More zooms this thing would probably shoot .3” no problem.

Ruger American or Savage Axis XP two ether one will work like steel mach ammo Hornady good stuff shooting great out of both rifles. The stock I gut put epoxy and Aluminum I piller on one and C chanel much stuff stock for shor and light and strong enough to put biy pod. Much stronger stock.

Nothing wrong with affordable firearms in a sub MOA package that just flat out work.
