    In this video Part 2 of the Pyro Mini-series, I continue right off from the Smoke Emitter and I start setting up the dopnet Pyro simulation. This is where we bring the smoke alive by manipulating it with the Smoke Emitter that was created in the last Part 1 video. I demonstrate how the Pyro simulation will be different when you are constantly pumping or constantly feeding in new smoke every frame and compare this to the smoke emitter that is fixed.

    I've found that a majority of Houdini tutorials just get you to follow along and you never really understand the underlying mechanics of what you just did. By contrast, your tutorials dive under the hood, and I love your side by side comparisons. Great work!

    amazing tutorial, one thing i need to ask though is, everytime i leave my dopnet node, the smoke simulation isn’t there? but when i go into the node, everything’s perfect??

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's something you need to get use to in Houdini, everything in the DOPNET is simulation data, you need to extract it out into the Object context using a Dop Import node, that will extract the sim data out and you'll be able to render the pyro by applying a volume material, if you see don't see anything in the render remember to tweak the density values. Sometimes you may need extreme numbers. However this is all past tense now, SideFX has introduced a new SOPS Pyro nodes, that allows you to setup pyro right in the sop and we no longer need the DOPNET anymore. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to play around with the pyro sops yet and I think my gpu is getting quite dated, because the last time I tried it out it takes my gpu forever to do anything.
      Hope this helps!

  • @johnstenberg9958
    @johnstenberg9958 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can't see anything in my DOPNet, has happend many times before still the same issue. No idea how to solve it all i get is a boundbox

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure that your pyro emitter is inside the boundbox. THe BOund box sort of defines where the pyro simulation will exist. Anything outside of this boundbox, nothing will happen. This is a way to tell Houdini to optimize the scene so Houdini will only calculate within the boundbox. And if that doesn't help, try increasing the volume emission in the smoke object node. And if you're using volume source node, increase the emission there.
      See if that helps!

    it disappears when is only initial data... any sugg?

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like 9:46 ? When you remove the fuel, only the initial data is powering the simulation, but like the name implies, initial data only happens at the beginning and only happens once. I hope I understand the question.
      It's like those solar powered calculators, once you turn off the lights, the calculator will only last for so long until it runs out of power or when you turn on the light again to re-fuel it. If you leave the lights on, the calculator will run forever, like in the Pyro sim Fuel parameter, it constantly keeps feeding it in.

  • @wtmftproductions
    @wtmftproductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do I get such a drastically different result from you? I followed your previous video and this one but at the end my puff of smoke is a pathetic little blob that disappears almost immediately while yours looks super interesting and realistic.

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you describe to me what's different? Is your smoke being cut off on the bounds? You can make the bounds larger in the smokeobject node, inside the dopnet. What voxel size are you using?

    hi
    Pyro for Beginner Rendering -still "Work in progress" ... we are waiting for the sequel, when will it come out?

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so sorry for that delay. I got side-tracked after the Pyro series was done, probably because I was so exhausted from editing the Pyro series. From what I recall it was a very long editing process for this series. In H19, Sidefx has introduced some new features for the Pyro sim's.
      I have lightly talked about it in a Live Stream here, if you're interested:
      th-cam.com/video/VNsY8s_4ltM/w-d-xo.html
      But I am planning on coming back to the Pyro with some new content like volume velocities! I really want to get into designing your own volume velocities for Pyro, I think the effects would look amazing!

    This is great! What is the difference between pulling in the volume attributes (e.g., temperature/density) in the Smoke Object node as opposed to the Volume Source node? Are there any advantages or disadvantages either way?
    In this tutorial, the guy pulls in the attributes in the Volume Source node: th-cam.com/video/W3keFF3VA7M/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=neerajshrivastava

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  ปีที่แล้ว

      The volume source is getting updated information on every frame. The Smoke Object node is more like instantiating the pyro instance once, sorta like importing it once and then you keep using that imported data throughout the simulation. But the volume source node is more like importing it every frame, so if something changes in the middle, say frame 50, the density increases or something that will reflect into the data that you import. Hope that helps! I'm not sure if I'm making much sense in this comment.

      @AlexeiX1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      when you make a youtube channel it asks if your content is for children, TH-cam makes this differentiation for content purposes, and they mean if its literally meant for children and not only if children can watch it, it can be misleading.... But then if it is "childrens content" the channel has a series of restrictions like the one mentioned.
