Yoda also lived over 900 years. It would be reasonable to think that at some point, Yoda would get bored and take the opportunity to learn the dark side.
Indeed, as well as the logical assumption that he would want to know more about the Dark Side and its appeal, as well as its strengths and weaknesses of those that wield it powers.
Another theory is that yodas race has a direct link to the force. Thats why their mido count is so high. The direct link to the force is theoriezed to allow yoda to use both light and dark without being overcome by the dark side.
I liked it, it made him look more evil and menacing, his normal old man look was not at all evil looking but, with the long face, he looked more like a villain.
Dooku is more of a Dark Jedi than a true Sith. he believed in acquiring power to reshape the galaxy into a united, strong, and orderly society, whereas sith simply wished to completely Dominate the Galaxy for the sake of power. The man had a point, but fell too far to see where his path would end.
Revan He was never the sith apprentice to Sidious that he believed he would someday become, though he was definitely mentored by Sidious in the ways of the sith.
Given the many Sith holocrons locked in the most secure part of the Jedi library on Coruscant, one could argue that Yoda, as well as Mace Windu, studied Sith training. Know your enemy in order to destroy him.
well that and the fact that i dont belive Yoda was born to be wise and with foreside...i rather think the reason why hes so strong in the light side is because he was couroius about it in his youth, did things he still regets and he ultimately did not like the path of the darkside for himself. Its easy to say and teach something to children you dont know of and just belive...BUT a true teacher tells his pupil from his very own mistakes so they do better. And like somebody already said, yoda had 900 years to do good things and less good thinks alike, ultimately what matters is to stay true to your own belives and Yoda never wanted to be the ruler of the galaxie, at least as far as we know...so yea he probly did play around with the darkside but i doubt he ever got that far to consider him a fallen Jedi...more of a scholar that got realy REALY invested in his research.
Yeah Windu can use the dark side he had obtained the power called force crush which is a Sith ability and Windu is known to be able to beat the temptation of the dark side while still tampering with it
It's like the phrase says and Yoda later confirms "We never lose our demons, we only learn to live above them." And then later in the clone wars series in one of the final episodes SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Yoda while battling his dark side says something along the lines of part of me you are accept you I will but give you power I will not

"At this moment Yoda turned, and Dooku gasped. Whether it was the play of the holomonitors, beaming their views of bleak space and distant battles, or some other trick of the light, Yoda's face was deeply hidden in the shadows, mottled black and blue, so that for one terrible instant he looked exactly like Darth Sidious. Or rather, it was Yoda as he might have been, or could yet become: a Yoda gone rotten, a Yoda whose awesome powers had been utterly unleashed by his connection to the dark side. In a flash Dooku saw how foolish he had been, trying to urge the old Master to the dark side. If Yoda ever turned that way, Sidious himself would be annihilated. The universe had yet to comprehend the kind of evil that a Jedi Knight of nearly nine hundred years could wield." - Dark Rendezvous; such an enjoyable quote
"The universe had yet to comprehend the kind of evil that a Jedi Knight of nearly nine hundred years could wield." That is actually a pretty cool quote. Is Dark Rendezvous a canon book?
You repeat the same thing over, and over, and over, and over again. The redundancy is strong in this one Edit: holy crap, didn’t realize this comment blew up. Glad to see I’m not the only one that noticed. To all the negative comments : if you can’t understand redundancy then y’all found the perfect TH-camr, enjoy😂
I was about to say the same thing. He thinks Yoda may have once studied the dark side as Yoda may have once studied the dark side. He thought this because Yoda may have once studied the dark side in order to defeat the dark side.. blah blah blah there are maybe 2 things in this video that someone with no knowledge of star wars wouldn't have guessed.
Yoda being knowledgeable about the dark side makes perfect sense. In order to debate against someone (Religion vs atheist for example) you must understand that person's views and ways of defending it. In the same manner, Yoda needs to understand the dark side to fight against. Know your enemy. Besides, one who cannot be tempted by the dark side does not need to hide from it. Yoda could spend a century with the Sith and they would never even come close to turning him so he has no reason not to explore and understand it to better fight against it.
@@jonathonfrazier6622 Saruman was always lustful for power even going back to the simarillion. Even while he served Sauron he hoped to overthrow him and take his power for himself.
too bad the jedi didn´t follow that quote: "know thy enemy" in the movies... they were so anti-dark side that they wouldn´t even talk about it let alone give their padawans somewhat of an understanding
I like it Shadow! This is basically what the Force Priestesses try to explain to Yoda in the Clone Wars TV series. "The beast is you, and you are the beast. To deny it simply gives it power." Interesting how in Legends Yoda seemed to recognize that there was darkness within him, whereas he denied it right up until his lessons from the Priestesses in Canon. Great stuff again buddy. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video.
Yoda was trained about dark side. He knew how to absord force lightning and other dark side abilieties. If you watch clone wars series, even Yoda has dark side within but he keeps it under control. Besides Jedis have sith holocrons and if you watch all movies, series, read comics, books etc. in many of them it is mentioned that Jedis learned about their enemies and who would not? So Dooku was right also and Dooku was Yodas apprentice, Im sure master taught a lot about himself too to Yoda.
I've always loved the phrase "those who fear the dark have no idea what the light is capable of" I think that fits star wars very well as the dark side can control the force but the lightside can become avatars of the force
I think its implied that Yoda did study the dark side and was familiar with it to understand his enemies, and even that he could have been even more powerful than Sidious if he ever gave in. But true to his principals he never allowed it to consume or dominate him. Great character.
Dark Rendezvous is another one of my favorite books. It was such an interesting look at the relationship between Yoda and Dooku. The good count was so close to being redeemed by his former master. Man, that would have thrown one gigantic wrench in Palpatine's plans and might have led to the Sith's downfall. I'm honestly not sure if he could have improvised fast enough to stop Dooku and Yoda from destroying everything he and Plagueis had schemed to achieve. Still want that Dooku novel. I'm begging you, Luceno.
I had always been curious about Dark Rendezvous since Dooku's reference to his confrontation with Yoda on Vjun in Labyrinth of Evil! I haven't had a chance to read through the entire novel yet, but I recently picked it up and read the entire confrontation to try to understand Dooku's thoughts in Labyrinth of Evil. I agree...Luceno needs to get on that Dooku novel right away! :) Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment as always IO.
ImperialistOpinions with the way things are now a Dooku backstory would not be likely, and even if it did happen it wouldn't cover anything that happened during the other novel
prodigypenn I want and hope for a Dooku novel; that has nothing to do with how likely it is to happen. And why, exactly, should I want a new novel that covers the exact same events as one that already exists? I merely expressed that I like Dark Rendezvous very much, no more and no less. If anything, I'd expect a Dooku novel by James Luceno to be similar to Darth Plagueis and Tarkin, covering some important events in the life of Dooku that occured over decades, showing some of his time as a Jedi and his fall to the dark side.
light and dark is not equivilant to right and wrong. you can be a total black dark side user and be a "righteous" person. palpatine was right in order to understand the force you need to explore all aspects not hide from it. the dark side is part of the force just as the light side. the "fear" that the jedi had for the dark side of the force is what inevitably led to their destruction. ignoring emotions is not the same as controlling them like luke demonstrated in the jedi returns (this is what i believe to be true mastery and what made luke so pivotal to the story) both the sith and jedi were wrong
I agree with you completely. It's one of the reasons that Revan is my favourite character. He understood both the light and the dark. However, according to Lucas before he sold the rights, the dark side is a perversion of the force, and to bring balance is to eliminate the dark side. Personally, I absolutely hate this interpretation, not only because it makes the morality in star wars completely black or white (at least for force users) but also because it destroys the whole point of Revan's character as a balance between light and dark.
This is why, with all of its problems, I believe The Last Jedi is an amazing movie. It delves more into the mistakes of the Prequel-era Jedi and how it was their fear that ultimately created Darth Vader and the Empire.
Jonathan van dorsten I agree whereas a dark jedi vs a light jedi there is no right or wrong. Sith on the other hand are evil to the core, considering the utmost negativity such as hate, betrayal, deception, are the ways of the sith, not to mention a sith apprentice becomes a master only by killing the previous master.
You have to be naïve if one thought Master Yoda was a passive aggressive individual he needed to Combat the forces of Dark Side of The Forse. And the best way to accomplish it was to study the weaknesses also , hence studying the Dark Side while keeping his composure
John Cipriano Yoda was aware of the darkside w/in his own self. Yet he ran away from his, rather than really master it w/in himself!.. hence why he said what he said to Luke in TLJ!.. had Yoda been more intuned & forth thinking with the darkside; period & in general, & def within his self, he could have better prepared the Jedi before order 66 hit & they just might not have gotten sand bagged like that!.. feel me?..
John Cipriano I have a even simpler explanation: After 900 years of life and 850+ of those years using the Force and life experience, one would have to walk on the dark side at some point for some amount of time. 900 years is a very long time. You really can't follow one extreme of a point of view to the letter for that long a time, light or dark. At some point you'll ask yourself what the other side has to offer and experiment. If Palpatine had a lifespan like Yoda, he would try the light side out of curiosity to see for himself what the other side of the Force and life in general had to offer sooner or later during that lifespan.
chrismc410 I'm with you up to the Palpatine bit... Palpatine would never turn to the light!.. that fool dispised (ws) the light, even before he really knew he was Force sensitive (Darth Plagieos - James Lecino (sorry for ws))... Palpi would never turn to the light in a million years yo!.. that fool was married to the Dark Side!.. just like Plageous taught him to be!.. dig? . & Yoda stubernly (sorry for all this ws) stayed glued to the light!... 2 extremes that got neither one of them fools nowhere (in the bigger picture!.. ) dig?
Self Elevation if he lived as long as Yoda, he'd at least ask himself the question of what the light had to offer or at the least think about it, even for an instant. Not saying he would turn to the light but he'd at least ask himself the question.
chrismc410 I don't think so brother!.. Palpi was corrupt to the fucking bone yo!.. maybe, after he won & was bored w/ Vader & ruling the universe!... But even then I doubt it! I think he would dismiss the thought as fast as it would come in his head. . Imo more than anything!.. feel me?...
Well he trained on dagobah when he was young for a long time and thats a dark side planet. He totally knows whats up, to be a master of the force you have to master both sides
Watching this, I remember reading the novel it was in, and found myself glancing around my room trying to remember whether I still own the book, or borrowed it from the library and took it back..... "Everyone the dark side has... But not all surrender to it!"
Meh in current canon yea but in legends there's quite a few Jedi who can and use different colored lightning. I believe Plo koon has a yellow version, it's forbidden though because Jedi don't like fun things.
"In a way, it frightened Dooku" That's like saying "In a way, Dooku was wounded fighting Anakin above Coruscant" It's TRUE, but it vastly understates reality. 'In a way, it frightened Dooku', if by 'in a way' you mean 'Dooku damn near shit himself in raw terror when he realized the implications of what he tried to do'
Hey Kevin! Thank you my friend. It means a lot to know you are enjoying the videos and the pleasure is all mine. Can't thank you enough for all of your supportive comments recently!
That's like someone maturing in life at first you start out doing a whole bunch of bad stuff not having understanding and then you grow older and have more wisdom and realize that is not the way but even though you changed you're still capable of being that person again
If Star Wars was a real thing, the Dark Side would just be negative emotions and the light would be good emotions. The force acts as a personification of 2 parts of human nature or the idea of Good and Evil, morality and immorality with some looseness to it for the series. A Jedi and Sith can both get angry, but it's what they choose to do with that anger that makes it darkside or lightside. A jedi would suppress it or let it go and focus on regaining himself emotionally, a Sith would increase that anger and harness it for power or to do evil. There's no real middle ground here, we know which of the 2 is good and which is not. If you give in to anger it does cause harm both for you and for those around you. In many cases the jedi were right vs the sith in philosophy but they were also wrong when it came to friendship and bonds between people and attachments and naturally people want to form attachments you just have to control your emotions and be a good person while doing so.
In the book, The Return of the Jedi, Luke deflects lighting from the Emperor, Luke figures that if it is Force generated, can be Force deflected. But, Luke could not hold it for long and gives in.
Its not that Yoda fell too the dark side, he simply learned and understood its nature and was absolutely tempted by it, but used it as an opportunity to know it so he was more adapt to defeating it and teaching others how to also defeat it, as he stated, once down the dark path, forever it will dominate your destiny and we know that it never dominated Yoda's destiny. Yoda wasn't afraid of the dark side ultimately, but saw it for what it really was, and that was why Yoda was able to know it, yet also not join with it, because he knew of the truth of it and that knowledge gave him power without falling too it, facing the dark side is an essential experience that Yoda was aware of in order to understand the force better and to not fall to the temptations of the dark side, to be aware of its influence and whats happening if temped in some way shape or form and you can clearly see Yoda using what he learned to teach Luke in The Empire Strikes Back when Luke entered the cave.
Given Yoda's age, I'd guess he actually did train and learn several dark side techniques, probably more in line with being a gray. I think he and Mace Windu were two of the more powerful jedi due to this, and even Obi-Wan to some effect was able to use his anger to get the upper hand in some duels. A lot of the older force users, going back to Old Republic days, often dabbled in both sides of the force to be more well rounded.
I feel that all Jedi who are faced with the lure of the dark side do learn from it to an extent. By facing the darkness and rejecting it they learn not only about it but themselves even if they stumble and fail at points in that journey.
stampede122 great theory......this same thoery itself could also explain how Mace Winduu was able to stay on the edge of balance between light & dark with his saber coloring. Perhaps both Jedi Masters know more than what their abilities showed all of us. I think both Masters know of the light and dark as well as secrets to hiding and maintaining themselves from being seduced and fully pulled into the ways of the Sith. There may also be more force abilities that have not been revealed from both Yoda & Winduu
I'd say it's safe to say the masters studied the dark side so they'd be ready for it. They did have sith holocrons kept in vaults away from most of the order.
in retrospect, knowing that grogu is a baby born around the same time as anakin, has had multiple Jedi masters train and raise him and with what he’s capable of right now. I can only imagine what yoda (900 years of training) can do.
I feel pure like a Jedi when im taking a dookie after work... I turn into a Sith Lord when i see there's no toliet paper n have to wobble to the closet for a fresh roll.......
Hey Amanda! Thank you for all of your nice comments recently and for watching. It is very much appreciated and it is great to hear that you are enjoying the videos. :)
There's a small clip in the Teaser Pro's channel of the Yoda Teaser video they made where Yoda appears to be where what might be a Sith Tomb, and a figure as him "what brings you to my Tomb Jedi?" and sounded like Yoda then said "to learn". Not sure where that came from but sounded pretty real.
Well he is really old, so he had to have gone through a dark phase sometime in his life. I wouldn't be surprised if he has trained in the dark side before.
so where did this guy get the information that dooku and yoda were together on this vashon planet? ive looked and looked online and cant find a wink of info to that effect.
I should imagine Yoda would study it from afar. He never explored or the way Qui-Gon or Windu did. More of an academic study than any sort of immersion.
Maybe Yoda didn't recieve actual training, but in learning to master himself and the connection to the force, he had to master the darkness within, what Dr. Carl Jung called his shadow self, in order to be able to be a complete master of the light. George Lucas was influenced by Joseph Campbell, why not Jung too? What do you think?
I agree with this. I think it is Plato who said that one who supremely masters the light will understand the the shadows for what they truly are. The dark side treat derivative phenomena as realities (reality as it seems to me or as I want it to be) and thus never really understand the light which submits to reality as it is. One who understands their self and masters their self will understand how one can go wrong.
@@himself3011 I think Campbell was an etic academic, he described the hero's journey but would never describe himself as one who has walked on that journey, whereas Jung was much more multifaceted and had to keep appearances in order to be respected by his peers at the time, but now that we have access to the red book, we can see how much of Gnostic he was. Cheers.
Yoda is a wise old crone that constantly gave guidance to others. He also wasn’t one to brag. With that in mind, Yoda saying “much to learn, you still have” to Dooku after he brags about being “more powerful than any Jedi” is unlikely to be a throwaway line. Yoda is simply telling Dooku not to be that naive about what others know. Yoda has definitely studied or even practiced the Dark side...
I swear like everysingle big name in the Jedi had an apprentice that fell to the dark side...well everyone other than qui gon I guess, obi never went to the dark; maybe it was because qui gon was a little more open minded and never tried to repress the dark side?
Yoda has incorporated his shadow. It's a common theme throughout mythology as well. In Mesopotamian creation myth, human beings are created from the blood of the king of monsters. Alternatively, like how Paarthurnax said, although this idea is also much older than Skyrim. "What is truly good? To be incapable of evil? or to be fully capable and choose not to be evil?" If the idea that Yoda may have had dark side training appeals to you, it may be a good idea to look into the Jungian Shadow.
There is a German TH-camr that translated exactly Every word you said in this Video. Its literally 1 by 1. Look him up Hes called Star Wars Flash. Just here to help Keep the Work up i Love your Videos :)
I feel Master Yoda would have at least flirted with the dark side a bit. Being almost a millennia old I think he would have learned all he could from the light. Thx for sharing!!
Stumbled on the video. Im not the biggest SW fan, but I like this topic. The best teachers are the ones who've experienced and been through the same situations. The fact he is old he could have been well experienced enough to believe in having full control in mind and body that the light wouldnt leave him. Giving him the capacity to let the darkness in and still retain control of him self and beliefs.
Darth Mort, which takes the "mort" from La petite mort. Translated as : The little death. I didn't know I could sound this nerdy. But here I am. Gaze upon my geekdom world.
H.G Wells Or you know, just mort as in the French word for death. No need to bring the French euphemism for orgasm into the fray, when just "mort" would work just fine.
Thank you so much for the support Tyler. It really does mean a lot and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. :) I hope you're having a great weekend!
A small correction on Tu taminus (don't know how to spell it) it wasn't trained to initiates or most jedi by this point, Yoda was only in his early 100s when he was taught it and taught others to it. Unfortunately the tradition was lost due to the fear of a possible connection to force lightning.
Well said...it says in the word of God...by Christ himself....NO MAN IS WITHOUT SIN....it's the turning away from sin even in the face of temptation that pleases God. It is a struggle for many of us though...especially in these days...very easy access to all sorts...even worse if you have access to the dark web...and it's becoming mainstream acceptable to be full of debauchery. Signs are everywhere....order 66(6)...coming soon.
@@elevatingvibration1860 There is always that one person in every discussion/argument that has to tie everything to religion. At least star wars books are original, and not interpretations taught in a "holy" building by an on-rails-minded person as an absolute truth. I've read many well thought out point of views in this thread about the force, others willing to accept or at least acknowledge another's view, but religion is taught that either you believe what you are taught by your (again, interpretation of an ancient text that may or may not have existed) bible or Koran or whichever you CHOOSE to read and believe that you follow these, essentially rules, or you are going to hell (or one's religious beliefs version on an eternal damnation). So please leave sci-fi and your choice of "how to live your life manual" separate topics. Next thing you know, people will start voicing that the bible was originally written in Hebrew! Then we will be in non-fiction conversations!
I thought just in the last few movies they have showed that ancient Jedi learned both the dark and light kinda like ying and yang to truly know the force u need to know both sides
As in the case of Dooku lots of jedi probably have turned into dark jedi during Yoda's time as a Grand Master. In order to help those people back to the light I think Yoda began to experiment in the dark side himself to better understand possible scenarios that could show up. But Yoda's studies left a mark that haunted him which is what Dooku sensed but being trained in the light side for so long Yoda's light side has been holding back his dark temptations. More evidence that Yoda has been trained in the dark side is shown on Targoida when Yoda was sent to negotiate a republic base in the system. When talking with ventress he says 'strong in the darkside you are, but not that strong much more you have to learn' Implying that yes Yoda knows quite a lot about dark side training.
The Mandalorian War was thousands of years ago yoda wasn't born yet. The Jedi didn't intervene during that time because they were more pacifistic, they weren't even with the republic yet. The Grand Master spent his time trying to talk a jedi known in the future as Darth Raven out of fighting in said war or babbling in political matters the Jedi who turned to the dark side during those wars was on Raven alone. Yoda didn't help in some conflicts because they simply didn't ask for help, there was nothing he could do, or the galactic law kept him from helping. Yoda Knew 100% that Anakin would turn to the dark side but did nothing because The Whills of the Force told him not to so Anakin would inevitably destroy Sidious. Before revenge of the sith Yoda was indeed blinded by his LOVE for the Jedi. But months before the events in Revenge of The Sith he learned to let go and devoted himself to the force and prepared for 'The Dark Times'
They didn't allow Anakin on the Council because he was too arrogant, didn't know anything really, and was extremely impatient oh and lets not forget he wasn't a Master. Yoda didn't accept the clones. The republic accepted the clones and the jedi became the generals for the military since the CIS was getting way more aggressive.
“know yourself, know your enemy, and you shall win a hundred battles without loss,”-Sun Tzu. I do not believe Yoda had to do anything with the dark side to understand it from a scholarly perspective or to face it in battle. The "dark Yoda" image could have been a psychological maneuver to show Dooku that his supposed power of fear was overestimated and that he was indeed subject to it still.
idk, using the force to create a psychological attack to invoke fear seems like a dark side use of the force to me. yoda wasn't always a wise old man so he probably experimented with the dark side of the force at some point.
I believe mace windu and and yoda both trained in the dark side. Mace was definitely a dark Jedi master Yoda simply turned away from it, but also it has been made very clear in Canon and non- Canon that thousands if not millions of unique cultures had different faiths that had force usage the Jedi would seek out these cultures for intellectual reasons.
I think Yoda's darkness would stem from two things. Firstly, he likely studied the Dark Side to know how to fight it, but as a result he knew that if he ever cared to, he would be an extremely powerful dark side user, so there was an eternal temptation, even if it was miniscule. Also, living for 900 years and losing everyone you love over, and over, and over again would severely tax anyone. I believe Yoda carried this pain always. Such immense pain could fuel the connection to the dark side which he had inadvertently formed. I suspect resisting this manifestation of the dark side within him for so many centuries is what makes Yoda such a strong Jedi Master.

MrTohawk no timeline switches. Marvel and DC do enough of that.
Would've been a sick reveal in the prequel era if the Jedi really were plotting to take over.
MrTohawk and maybe Palpatine was the jedi master?
What if Yoda was Vitiate?

Kenney true. but that's exactly what happened to Saruman in the Lord of the rings ( also played by Christopher lee)
I was going to say this. Very true. Once you know your enemy completely, you can then dominate them
@@jonathonfrazier6622 Saruman was always lustful for power even going back to the simarillion. Even while he served Sauron he hoped to overthrow him and take his power for himself.
too bad the jedi didn´t follow that quote: "know thy enemy" in the movies... they were so anti-dark side that they wouldn´t even talk about it let alone give their padawans somewhat of an understanding
Jonathon Frazier oh good point
There's darkness in all of us. It's fighting the darkness that brings out the light.
Yep, challenging your problems is what solves them. Ignoring them makes the problem grow
shadow swordsman Truth .
shadow swordsman Yes, that is true...but how dose one turn from that darkness once he or she starts down that dark road?
ask anakin skywalker xD
"Understand, Dooku, that for good, the Dark Side I would try to use, but through me, a power too great and terrible to imagine, would it wield."
0:58 contains a rare image of the Jedi known only as Nicolas Cage
I can't unsee that now lol.
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment as always IO.
It was a good book aye. Would love a full dooku book
Luceno has always been a top SW writer for me. I really love his style and attention to detail.
light and dark is not equivilant to right and wrong. you can be a total black dark side user and be a "righteous" person. palpatine was right in order to understand the force you need to explore all aspects not hide from it. the dark side is part of the force just as the light side.
the "fear" that the jedi had for the dark side of the force is what inevitably led to their destruction. ignoring emotions is not the same as controlling them like luke demonstrated in the jedi returns (this is what i believe to be true mastery and what made luke so pivotal to the story)
both the sith and jedi were wrong
I agree with you completely. It's one of the reasons that Revan is my favourite character. He understood both the light and the dark.
However, according to Lucas before he sold the rights, the dark side is a perversion of the force, and to bring balance is to eliminate the dark side. Personally, I absolutely hate this interpretation, not only because it makes the morality in star wars completely black or white (at least for force users) but also because it destroys the whole point of Revan's character as a balance between light and dark.
This is why, with all of its problems, I believe The Last Jedi is an amazing movie. It delves more into the mistakes of the Prequel-era Jedi and how it was their fear that ultimately created Darth Vader and the Empire.
there is just the force and misuse of it - called the dark side
it is said several times. The balance of the force means absence of dark side users.
dovahkiin2 wronnnggg......
Yet he ran away from his, rather than really master it w/in himself!.. hence why he said what he said to Luke in TLJ!.. had Yoda been more intuned & forth thinking with the darkside; period & in general, & def within his self, he could have better prepared the Jedi before order 66 hit & they just might not have gotten sand bagged like that!.. feel me?..
John Cipriano I have a even simpler explanation:
After 900 years of life and 850+ of those years using the Force and life experience, one would have to walk on the dark side at some point for some amount of time.
Always enjoy these videos from you!
Watching this, I remember reading the novel it was in, and found myself glancing around my room trying to remember whether I still own the book, or borrowed it from the library and took it back.....
"Everyone the dark side has... But not all surrender to it!"
He was literally the only jedi that could manipulate force lightning
So theres that
Until Rey came along but I bet there's more
Meh in current canon yea but in legends there's quite a few Jedi who can and use different colored lightning. I believe Plo koon has a yellow version, it's forbidden though because Jedi don't like fun things.
Mace could also deflect force lightening
Jedi can use a Light Side type of Force Lightning called Force Judgment
"In a way, it frightened Dooku" That's like saying "In a way, Dooku was wounded fighting Anakin above Coruscant" It's TRUE, but it vastly understates reality. 'In a way, it frightened Dooku', if by 'in a way' you mean 'Dooku damn near shit himself in raw terror when he realized the implications of what he tried to do'
In a way, 1939 was not the best year for jews in Germany.

That's like someone maturing in life at first you start out doing a whole bunch of bad stuff not having understanding and then you grow older and have more wisdom and realize that is not the way but even though you changed you're still capable of being that person again
I think the perfect jedi would be thoroughly trained in both the light and dark side. Both the light and dark sides of the force are biased.
the jedi and sith are just some crazy religious people.
Mr Fred Jedi is no emotion, it’s concentration and focusing shit
@Melly Bunny no actually they said dont have emotion several times , although they did say dont let their emotion control them also
well anakin was the opposite being the perfect sith
Hey Star Wars Reading Club! Awesome video! Glad to see you making videos again. May the force be with you.
In the book, The Return of the Jedi, Luke deflects lighting from the Emperor, Luke figures that if it is Force generated, can be Force deflected. But, Luke could not hold it for long and gives in.

“That’s my trick Dooku, I’m always afraid”

"Darkness is ever present on the edge of the brightest of lights..."
Given Yoda's age, I'd guess he actually did train and learn several dark side techniques, probably more in line with being a gray. I think he and Mace Windu were two of the more powerful jedi due to this, and even Obi-Wan to some effect was able to use his anger to get the upper hand in some duels. A lot of the older force users, going back to Old Republic days, often dabbled in both sides of the force to be more well rounded.
yoda reminds me of the type of guy thats always happy but sad inside :'c
His training on how to become one with the Force was that training!
To know the enemy one has to get their hands "dirty" and KNOW the enemy.
You're the only person I know that uses the word "exposé"
I love it
Could you do a theory on what if the kamino clone rebellion was a success?
I look forward to the “In this video exposé” every time. Love these videos.
Makes me wonder if Yoda learned from the dark side without falling into it
stampede122 it makes me think of how in Dr. Strange how The Ancient One drew power from the dark dimension without being corrupted by it
I feel that all Jedi who are faced with the lure of the dark side do learn from it to an extent. By facing the darkness and rejecting it they learn not only about it but themselves even if they stumble and fail at points in that journey.
William Parcell fair enough
stampede122 great theory......this same thoery itself could also explain how Mace Winduu was able to stay on the edge of balance between light & dark with his saber coloring.
They did have sith holocrons kept in vaults away from most of the order.

facts are the Jedi Grandmaster council had the best Sith collection outside of Palpatine... and they knew the contents.
in retrospect, knowing that grogu is a baby born around the same time as anakin, has had multiple Jedi masters train and raise him and with what he’s capable of right now. I can only imagine what yoda (900 years of training) can do.

Thank you for another awesome video.
"One can not see light without first feeling darkness" - me, 1 minute ago
0:55 i didn't know he trained nicholas cage too
Maybe Yoda didn't recieve actual training, but in learning to master himself and the connection to the force, he had to master the darkness within, what Dr.
One who understands their self and masters their self will understand how one can go wrong.
because campbell was a mystic, and jung was a grifter who got expelled from the order he joined
@@David_Alvarez77 yup
@@himself3011 I think Campbell was an etic academic, he described the hero's journey but would never describe himself as one who has walked on that journey, whereas Jung was much more multifaceted and had to keep appearances in order to be respected by his peers at the time, but now that we have access to the red book, we can see how much of Gnostic he was. Cheers.
"In order to be a complete and wise leader you must view a larger view of the Force"
Why does everything sound like a question
You forgot to mention that yoga acknowledges his dark side past in an episode of TCW
I love how unimpressed Yoda looks blocking that force lightning
Mace Windu had great control over it with Vaapad! So it would make sense that Yoda had Dark Side training at some point.

I mean just look at how Yoda fights that man has def studied the dark side lol
I feel Master Yoda would have at least flirted with the dark side a bit. Being almost a millennia old I think he would have learned all he could from the light. Thx for sharing!!
Stumbled on the video. Im not the biggest SW fan, but I like this topic.
The best teachers are the ones who've experienced and been through the same situations.
The fact he is old he could have been well experienced enough to believe in having full control in mind and body that the light wouldnt leave him. Giving him the capacity to let the darkness in and still retain control of him self and beliefs.
what would Yoda's Sith name be?
Darth Hopper
Jim Carrey
Albert Labriola lil boi
Darth Mort, which takes the "mort" from La petite mort. Translated as : The little death.

No,there is a light side version of force lightning,Luke and other Jedi learn that power
Corrupt by the darkside,i am not
I must know what the background music was
My fan theory: Yoda is actually a gremlin. When you can see baby Yoda there is no denying it.
A small correction on Tu taminus (don't know how to spell it) it wasn't trained to initiates or most jedi by this point, Yoda was only in his early 100s when he was taught it and taught others to it. Unfortunately the tradition was lost due to the fear of a possible connection to force lightning.
To become one with the light one must accept the darkness inside.
How old is Yoda when he dies?
Can you do a video on the Sith Lords he lived through?
900 years old.

I thought just in the last few movies they have showed that ancient Jedi learned both the dark and light kinda like ying and yang to truly know the force u need to know both sides
You sound like you bouta say “number 15 Burger King foot lettuce”
Baby yoda force choked in the mandalorian ...
Thanks for spoilers bastard

“know yourself, know your enemy, and you shall win a hundred battles without loss,”-Sun Tzu. I do not believe Yoda had to do anything with the dark side to understand it from a scholarly perspective or to face it in battle. The "dark Yoda" image could have been a psychological maneuver to show Dooku that his supposed power of fear was overestimated and that he was indeed subject to it still.
idk, using the force to create a psychological attack to invoke fear seems like a dark side use of the force to me. yoda wasn't always a wise old man so he probably experimented with the dark side of the force at some point.
0:58 Nicholas Cage confirmed Jedi
He resided on dadobagh near a dark side cave why didnt u mention that
I believe mace windu and and yoda both trained in the dark side. Mace was definitely a dark Jedi master Yoda simply turned away from it, but also it has been made very clear in Canon and non- Canon that thousands if not millions of unique cultures had different faiths that had force usage the Jedi would seek out these cultures for intellectual reasons.
Very good point.
Yoda absorbing Force lightning. " Much to learn, you still have ".
Wait, had Yoda at one time been trained in the Dark Side???
