    Palpatine didn’t obsess about finding yoda for the same reason the jedi order didn't obsess about finding the sith survivors after the great hyperspace war. Its pointless. There will always be a jedi and a sith somewhere. And even if you get rid of every single jedi or sith in the universe, there will be always a jedi who will turn to the dark side or a sith who will turn to the light and start it all over again.
    Both jedi or sith could only hope to be dominant, not to extinguish the other altogether.

    Ill offer another reason.
    Palpatine didn't want another confrontation with Yoda. Little to gain, a lot to lose.
    Yoda was the only Jedi alive who stood a real challenge to Palpatine and he feared his power. So as long as the Jedi Grandmaster remained in Exile and didn't directly oppose the new order it simply wasn't worth the risk to try and eliminate him. Vader and the Inquistors were not match for Yoda and therefore only person capable of beating Yoda would have been Palpatine himself. I think Palpatine didn't relish the idea of another duel as their first encounter resulted in a draw.

      Did you watch the prequels? Vader that got sliced into pieces by Obi-Wan, and then fried in a volcano. This cut off a significant amount of his connection to the force. The Vader suit did not increase his abilities in the Force it diminished them.
      Anakin Skywalker may have been more powerful in the force, but he lacked the lightsaber skill and experience of the 900 Year old Jedi Grandmaster. Moreover Yoda oversaw Anakin's training he would have known exactly what is abilities and weaknesses were, such as arrogance and overconfidence in his abilities.
      Moreover Darth Vader he was not as powerful anymore either due to his injuries. Yoda would have bested him easily.

    Yoda knew that the order of the Jedi was finished, all thier mistakes and complacency had resulted in the orders extinction. Yoda during the duel with Sidious knew he lost even before he started the confrontation, the orders mistakes could not be undone, the light had faded, sidious recognised too, he knew that no Jedi survivors have the force strong enough with them to cause his empire any serious threat, not even his ' little green friend'..

    Always liked to imagine Palpatine almost saw it as legitimizing his rule, knowing that even the greatest survivors of the Jedi Order; Yoda and Kenobi, even with their impressive power and charisma, wouldn't rise to threaten his dominion, because they KNEW they couldn't win. Palpatine surely had issues over the decades of his rule, but knowing these few survived, and knowing they were too afraid to challenge him, strengthened his rule through fear doctrine, and told him he was right, because if they could win; if the Force favored them, surely they'd try, but since they wouldn't, they knew it was because they COULDN'T.

  • @rpsnider85
    @rpsnider85 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think the biggest point was that he didn't want to give Yoda another chance. Sidious got unbelievably lucky in their battle and was clearly about to lose and be killed. When that happens you don't just go searching for the person who would have killed you if not for sheer luck... you leave them alone and spout useless shit about making them humble themselves while inwardly thanking everything in existence for your lucky break.

  • @HCBailly

    Preface: Casual Star Wars fan with little knowledge beyond Disney canon.
    It always bugged me how Yoda & Obi-Wan just gave up and left to hide and do nothing. Why not help out the rebellion? At worst, maybe lay low for awhile, but then gather their resources and try again. Even if it were incontrovertible that they could not defeat Sidious (which I doubt), they could still seriously disrupt and subvert his empire. Granted, there were relatively few Jedi left after Order 66, but look at how much Vader & Luke made on the galaxy for each side alone. Surely, two of the most powerful and trained Jedi with a few others could have vastly helped the rebellion.

    • @TY-km8hj
      @TY-km8hj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      True but remember the rebellion needs to defeat the Sith, something that they really wouldn't be able to do. Obi wans goal was to watch over Luke and eventually train him to defeat them both since he literally was their only hope (Leia too but she was with the organas) had they left to help the rebellion they would have done some good no doubt however what would it have truly accomplished? (Plus the rebellion didn't properly form until around 5 or less yrs before a new hope so the impact they would have had would be little due to there not being much time and would then make them abandon their duties) Eventually the sith would most likely confront them and kill them as they were too powerful at that point. Plus they knew of other jedi who were helping the rebellion such as ahsoka tano ezra bridger and kanan jarrus.
      Subverting the empire is a pointless endeavor, hence why they chose the long game and attempt to destroy the empire entirely through destroying the Sith

    • @armaniwebb4467
      @armaniwebb4467 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke was there best bet. In just a few training sessions he was able to rest the greatest technological terror the galaxy ever seen. Over the years he would take out bases and naval fleets aswell. The secret weapon is Luke and his deep connection to the force, this alone is more powerful than anything else.

      @Sky Light what he did? He was fucking weak in the last movie. If mace windu and the other 3 Jedi masters confronted him now he would be destroyed. What made sidious stronger towards the end of the movie was draining kylo force power. Remember kylo a Skywalker so it was like palpatine took that Skywalker power

    • @armaniwebb4467
      @armaniwebb4467 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sky Light you're nuts bro. You do realize TROS palpatine was weaker then ROTJ or ROTS. When he drained their life force he was able to rejuvenate himself to almost 100%. But he wasn't 100% full power, that force storm he did with lightning he has been able to do for a while that is nothing new. Him taking out kylo was a weak aspect of the movie, and him almost killing Rey is straight forward. I think all star wars fans agree Rey vs palpatine isn't even a match

    There's a strength in ignoring someone. The more attention you give them the more power they have. If the Empire had gone full force looking for yoda, it wouldve told their enemies that he was an enormous threat and a potential ally. While they probably wouldn't have been able to find him it would at least get some people interested enough to look into who he was leading to more people digging into the Jedi and force which may cause potential force sensitive beings to take an interest in the Jedi. Palpatine was a tactician.He knew what he wanted: to spread Empire influence to the Outer Rim and unlock secrets of the Dark Side with his apprentice And secrets of the galaxy. Plus he knew Jedi were broken and destroyed And he wanted to make them humble,to watch Empire thrive, and to watch and learn their mistakes and why they fell. This for punishment and lesson. I always imagined the jedi as a very heterogeneous group, consisting of only a few individuals like yoda, that were spread out across galaxy, mystical, shadowy figures, appearing here and there in the galaxy, in cases of need or in desperate times, helping out with conflicts in times of war etc. That would also contribute to them becoming more of an urban legend or a myth over time. The Clone Wars was one conflict that let the citizens see more often Jedi fighting in the battlefield, these sights contributed to the Jedi legend and myth. Luke Skywalker was meant to be the culmination and realization of all the Follies of the Jedi of the past centuries and the revitalization of a Jedi Order rebuilt in the old way that is truly in tune with the force.
    At least that's what it was supposed to be until Disney decided that they wanted to make Star Wars but throw out the lore and push a feminist agenda and while we're at it give pretty much all the main characters absolutely no character development or growth in any meaningful way. Then They’ll basically copy the original trilogy with a few slight variations while we're at it. Then we'll have the director of her first film freaked out because the director we got to do the second film killed off his end sequel bad guy in the second film in a really anticlimactic way forcing us to scrape together a story of how Darth Sidious somehow clone himself extracting midi-chlorians from for force users and somehow superimpose is consciousness onto a clone as a last-minute attempt.

    There's another answer that is more sith like....It's hard for your enemy to know he's permanently beaten if he's not around to have to live with that fact every day.

    It Make sense why Palpatine never obsessed over Yoda unlike how Vader did with Ben Kenobi. During their Duel Sidious had nothing to lose, but Yoda *had everything to lose.* And by the time Yoda had lost the Duel their was nothing he could do, so he went into Exile.
    As far as Dueling goes however I feel that Yoda had a chance of winning, because when you look at one scene Palpatine no longer had his lightsaber, and offscreen I’m pretty sure Yoda was able to disarm him, which proves master Yoda was the best Duelist in the Order, but unfortunately Sidious’s Strength with the Dark side was far too powerful for Yoda and overwhelmed him.

      Actually he never overwhelmed yoda. Yoda overwhelmed him by countering his lighting and made palp scream like he saw a ghost

      JT Crawford at his Strongest he could not hope to defeat the Emperor, he was not strong enough and us such went into exile until A new hope would emerge.

      Yearlonggiant palpatine tried to run, yoda jumped infront of him, they were pretty much equal but yoda has the edge, palpatine knew he couldn’t win he just had to survive the duel

    If you know that the force must be in balance, it's convinient that the other side is incapacitated and hopeless

    So what would have happened if Darth Vader found Yoda? Could he have actually defeated Yoda when Sidious himself couldn’t?

    • @Th3BigBoy
      @Th3BigBoy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Palpatine defeated Yoda. If you don't believe me read the canon novelization of episode 3 or look up the commentary where Lucas stated that Palpatine won. Yoda wouldn't have fled if he believed there was a chance at victory. He knew he was beyond hope.
      In fact Qui Gon first appeared to Yoda because Yoda was in despair and actually stated that he believed the dark side was truly stronger because he understood how powerful sidious is.
      Yoda never had a chance.
      Edit:. You watched the movie right? Sidious disarms Yoda and he wasn't himself disarmed. He always had the upper hand.

      Lin Shao Interesting. I’ll check that out. I was told that he fled because he needed to had to preserve the future of Jedi (train Luke). In my eyes defeated means killed. Sidious got the better of him after awhile but he did pretty well for a 900 year old creature.
      But would Vader beat him? Not so sure about that one. Especially not in that suit.

      @@dindjarin9063 When Vader enters the suit in Episode 3 and he learns of Padmes death, he used the force to crush all of the droids in the vicinity... The truth of the matter is that he was actually trying to kill Palpatine. Palpatine is laughing internally at this and mocking Vader.
      If ever there was a time to draw upon the Dark Side and have it fuel your hate and therefore your power, it would be upon learning of her death. Knowing what he did to save her. This should dispel any doubt that he was not giving it his all because he was. He just simply couldn't, not yet.

      Lin Shao Good point. Yeah I read that he was aiming at palpatine too. I’m going to read some of that cannon. Thanks for your replies bro.
