Qui-Gon Jinn also had a great understanding of the Dark Side, and understood why it existed, but obviously never needed to wield it. In his almost full eon of life, I can imagine that Yoda encountered many, many eerie things where the Dark Side is concerned. (Spoilers incoming I'm sorry);Yoda may not have foresaw what Sideous was really up to, but I think his later training of Luke more than made up for it by being involved in bringing balance to the Force, pointing Luke in the right direction, allowing the young Skywalker to bring Anakin back to his senses, and fulfill his destiny by destroying the Sith and returning the balance.
What if the balance was meant to be a literal balance. Someone capable of wielding both the light and dark sides of the force and uniting the Jedi and sith into one order, truly uniting the force into one concept and not splitting it into a duality. And the Jedi just misinterpreted the prophecy for hundreds of years.
I remember reading in one of the novels that Yoda didn't really subscribe to the Living Force. But rather the Unified Force. And therefore wasn't confined to the light side or dark side per se. That is why Yoda used the force in ways that other Jedu did not
This is really powerful. Really powerful. Yoda knew the truth. Sidious is so brilliant. So tactical. Sidious was around everything. Senate,Jedi,Republic. It's nice Yoda evolved and grew so much. He was right to investigate. Yoda wasn't in control for thousands of years. May the Force be with you too😊
To truly know the light side one must study the darkside..Yoda understood this. "Know thy enemy and know thy self in 1000 battles you shall never be in peril" this quote is from the Art of War by Sun Tzu. Yoda was a bit weak in fully knowing himself and the Jedi, they left themselves unable to sense the dark side at the level they needed to. This was the fault of the Jedi and Yoda as the strongest Light Side force wielder.
Denial helped the Sith. The Jedi chose to believe in the impossibility of the Sith's return. That alone has a psychological effect that would have affected most Jedi's perceptions. Group thinking, and arrogance from the Council, stopped them from even listening to the few who warned about the threat.
If the original trilogy didn’t have to be followed I’m certain yoda would have won. He’s given credit for being powerful but he’s still more than what most people think. I truly believe he would have won against sidious in a different setting. Catching his lightning in his hand. When that would fry most people instantly. He’s his superior with a light saber without question. Yoda is the GOAT
I think that with Yodas long life that when he was a young jedi he would have learned far more about the subject of the dark side than the modern Jedi were taught by the Clone wars period. He also had lots of sith artifacts and holocrons in the secured archives at the temple. Plus the prison that they had built to entrap the sith and dark jedi in .
Many years ago I read a book that included a section where Luke found a recording of Yoda from around 300 BBY where he reported leading a group of Jedi in battle against the force witches of Dathomir (pretty sure this was before Darth Maul or The Clone Wars series were ever conceived). Yoda had never personally met the Sith, but he DID have first-hand experience dealing with Dark Side enemies, and he had seen his fellow Jedi die at their hands. It makes perfect sense that this would have led him to study the Dark Side in an effort to improve his teachings. I can't recall the book's title.
Only by mastering both sides you can truly call yourself a master. And we know that Duku, Windu, Qui-Gon, Kenobi, Skywalker all had deep understanding of both sides, allowing them to choose what they stand for themselves.

Yoda should have sense Palpatine early on after he killed his family. The Grand Master had years of understanding the dark side, one little hint but the Sith kept their numbers low a Master and apprentice.
Everyone loves to point out the failings of the clone wars era of jedi and hates that they try to fight for the greater good and betterment of the universe without selfish personal intentions but I feel we should respect yoda's insight in those novels as a character. Maybe not the strongest jedi fighter in all of Star Wars but the wisdom he has is on par with qui gon jin albeit differently presented to the masses.
Knowing how powerful and dangerous a Dark Side Yoda could be, it makes me wonder how Sidious would have reacted to seeing Yoda when he let the darkness in for only the moment, as Dukeu saw him.
Yoda, the head jedi dude that lives in the house built on a sith temple... yeah this seems like a no brainer to me. Yoda is one of those characters that has really good PR, but the moment you look into them they get dark as hell.
I think if Yoda understood the dark, him being a grandmaster, and with or without guidance. He should have embraced the dark side enough to use it against the dark side to fight and defeat the sith. There wouldn't have been so much death and sacrifice if that happened. Also Windu is still alive, change my mind
One cannot Defeat an Opposing Force without Understanding the Opposing Side. In Order to do so 2 things are essential: embracing the ways of the opposite side by learning the teachings/methods/ reasoning of their practices/ideologies, and thinking as your opponents would based on rendering oneself to their experiences. These are some of the founding principles of Sun Tzu's The Art of War, and Robert Greene's The 48 Laws of Power. Sidious obtained so much power and knowledge because he rendered himself a student and servant to those of high value. Yoda obtained the amount of power and knowledge through his understanding of the Darkside/Sith as well. How can one triumph over any opposing force without understanding it????????
Yoda no doubt studied the dark longer than most Jedi. Even if we just consider how long he lived within the flesh. Even the short time receiving the gift of force ghosts, his battle with and accepting of his dark side have him more insight onto his weaknesses and also strengthening his faith in The Force's Supreme Guidance into Life Eternal.
Of course Yoda studied the dark side one can not defeat or challenge the likes of a Sidious without knowing the dark side. Great video. I hope they explore this more with Ezra and not miss this chance to tell a much deeper story.
sidious is my fav sith for sure, but also i hate that he never learned his lessons, he died the same way twice, unable to not use lightning, his throws worked in ep 3, and his saber skills were lacking. but his planning is unmatched and thats what i like about him. he used the jedis own ignorance against them and sweet sweet irony lol
With this insight. Imagine how much Yoda is thrown off by Sidious' choice of apprentices he knew of. This being a Zabrak who was defeated by a padawan. Then Dooku. A former Jedi, a strong Jedi, of course, but nowhere near the potential with the Dark Side for a Rule of Two Sith . Dooku was advanced in age, and past his prime. Sidious should be choosing apprentices with more potential than Maul and Dooku. This lacked sense. Yoda could not see until near the end of the Clone wars, there was another apprentice for Sidious, one who finally was worthy of being a Sith Lord with potential equal or greater than Sidious. Hindsight is 20/20, and Yoda must have hated himself even more for not considering Anakin as this next Sith Lord. It is another insight into why Yoda was opposed to training Luke.
I always felt after reading Dark Rendezvous” why Yoda couldn’t see what Palpatine was doing.. Only because you would think Yoda would have tapped into the dark side of the force to see if the Jedi was being played. This part of the Clone Wars never made sense to me, but I guess stories will be stories!!
We have a real world example of why Yoda studied the Dark Side: Sun Tzu's "the Art of War". To fight one's foe without understanding is foolish. But one must be careful as to not heed this warning: "be careful when hunting monsters, lest ye become the monster."
Seems like Jedi would constantly be in the study of the darker side within and outside of themselves to truly understand what they train to battle. To seek the light is to shine the light on the things within ourselves that need strengthening. To a Jedi seeks unity with The Force, striving and thirsting for that perfection ,yet knowing that perfection can't happen separate from IT, "becoming" 1 with IT.
To defeat your enemy , you must first know your enemy . As for Yoda identifying the dark side , ........... Yoda repeatedly failed that exercise . Which is why he lost .
Yoda understood the dark side but never really felt it from the standpoint of absolute identification. The only Jedi who truly came to deeply understand, identify and feel the dark side at a level of not only understand and feeling, but truly understanding what it truly could not offer was Master Luke.
I agree that sidious embodies the dark side but i think that's because sidious himself believes he has control of it not because he cares about serving any will of the force
As a Christian I can understand why yoda studied the history of the sith. That’s why the Bible explains the origins of the devil, what he does, and how to combat and defeat him which by the grace and power of God and His Word.
It wouldn’t even make sense for him to not have studied. 900 years old and powerful af. He has dedicated centuries to the force and CHOOSES the light. Very similar to how Luke trains except Yoda’s secrets have secrets.
Another reason Sidious was so powerful was that he changed he entire doctrine & traditions of the Sith in under a hundred years forever. However when you think about it the Sith had been around for 10, of thousands years it's crazy!
It was the best he could do. I think all Jedi Grandmasters should do that. What kind of Grandmaster are you if you haven't study your enemies? Knowing both sides brings balance not only 1.
The Dark in Yoda overturned his initial assessment of Anakin. Let's spice it up. My legacy of rigid ineptitude, humble arrogance, fake humility, and vile hypocracy will eventually lead to the destruction of the Sith. He would complete another student's training as Sidius did with Anakin to bring about the end of the sight of the Sith for quite some time. Durn, those Skywalker's had it bad. Here's an idea. Ttace the lineage of the Skywalker's, geneology or genetics? With Rey and without...
Why didn't Yoda not sense that the (younglings) were in immediate danger as soon as he felt the jedi being cut down. He spent so much time with them. There had to be a close force connection for them? Love the channel. I look forward to checking it out daily.
It can't be denied how many mistakes Yoda and the clone Wars era Jedi made, but I think Yoda studying the dark side from a historian perspective is something that was honestly a hugely tactful move, but I also think ultimately it was a mistake as if Yoda had allowed these texts to be seen and read over by more members of the Jedi it's possible ones like lost twenty, Dooku, and even Anakin could of been saved with access to that kinda knowledge and understanding of how the dark side/Sith even if it was the Sith of old operated.
I do not mistake when i write one almost said a perfect master is those one of the both sides of the force. The conclusion is around the corner: THE FORCE IS NOT EVIL OR DARK BUT THEIR MASTERS ARE.
Yes l think he could stop him but didn't because it would require him to the dark side nd and being Yoda the grandmaster incorruptible he wasn't willing to to dip his foot in the other side for fear of going to far getting lost and do something he would regret
I feel that if he had had frequent study sessions with the Master of the Order and permanent members of the Council, they would have all had a better understanding of the dark side and at the same time would have been able to keep each other grounded in the light.
Honestly I just can't ever see Sidious being that much more powerful than many of the prominent Ancient Sith. Short of the comic where he makes a bunch of clones and gains perfect control over Force Storms, nothing he does in any official material seems comparable to things like what Nihilous or Regan accomplished.
He never met a sith like palps b4,duh. tHx fir this amazing insight. Wgo would have thought since no sith revealt himself 4 longer than b4 yoda was even born? Great job captain obvious.
He trained on the dark side but wouldn’t allow Anakin to become a Jedi Master because he was dangerous and could fall to the dark side. The Jedi are such hypocrites. No wonder they fell so easily.
Yeah you don't understand Yoda.. he had centuries to live and never had to take shortcuts to power in the force. His age changes a lot for how temptation effects him! There are a few videos about it I think!
Yoda was too old tenor to have some knowledge of the Darkside of the Force. What Yoda lacked was experience. Seems that should be a requirement for a Master.
I think you have to study the enemy. You have no other choice. Which is kinda the dumb part of the story. How they think, how they move, how they fight. Why? Because they are studying you. This is why I don’t like calling myself a nerd. The naive thing.
I mean Yoda did tho, he mastered all forms of Lightsaber combat including one's Sith use but the Sith have adapted far beyond what they traditionally do
Yoda did yes but look the way the story is ok. Looking at the Sith holo cron will turn the Jedi to the dark side. They say stuff like that in this story. Because they may turn. So how would they study them before Yoda? I love the story but there are some hard parts to it
I realized how Einstein succeeded. He succeeded, because he read the Bible. By the way, I plan to study all other religions. POLYTHEISM AND OMNISM!!! Polytheism means to believe in many Gods and Goddesses. Omnism is the belief in all religions and knowing that no religion is the absolute truth, but every religion contains truth. Monotheism means to believe in only one God. Deism is the belief that there is a God, without submitting to a particular religion. I recommend that you start with Christianity. To a Jedi seeks unity with The Force, striving and thirsting for that perfection ,yet knowing that perfection can't happen separate from IT, "becoming" 1 with IT.
Always a pleasure 🤘
Yoda😔 was a #TDBank💳 card holder and used its abilities🤑 to overcome dark side effects... 🌎💘💰
Do he never trained, he studied it, the two are not the same.
To better fight the darkside, you must understand it.
Only problem is, the users are all different.
Yoda studying the Dark Side is like priests studying the devil.
There's a difference between the two?
I’ve always wondered how Yoda knew how to absorb force lightning if prior to attack of the clones he never encountered a sith
If you wanna be a great, wise leader you need to know all side of the force, not just the dogmatic jedi way
It wouldn’t even make sense for him to not have studied. 900 years old and powerful af. He has dedicated centuries to the force and CHOOSES the light. Very similar to how Luke trains except Yoda’s secrets have secrets.
It wasn't a mistake, it was common sense to know your enemy. It's a common movie trope stolen from Sun Tzu, why would Star Wars be any different?
Another reason Sidious was so powerful was that he changed he entire doctrine & traditions of the Sith in under a hundred years forever. However when you think about it the Sith had been around for 10, of thousands years it's crazy!
the jedi over 25,000 years
The sith 7,000 years

It was the best he could do. I think all Jedi Grandmasters should do that. What kind of Grandmaster are you if you haven't study your enemies? Knowing both sides brings balance not only 1.
It was a wise move to better understand your enemy
Hey man you live for over 900 years, you're gonna have an angsty sith phase.
Palpatine: If you do not join us, then you will be destroyed. *lightning*
The two stories in particular should have remained canon. They added a kot of growth snd character development to yoda as a whole.
Why didn't Yoda not sense that the (younglings) were in immediate danger as soon as he felt the jedi being cut down. He spent so much time with them. There had to be a close force connection for them? Love the channel. I look forward to checking it out daily.
I think its because the dark side was blocking the jedi from accessing the light side as much as they could in the past
I see thank you
Studying and training are two different things
It can't be denied how many mistakes Yoda and the clone Wars era Jedi made, but I think Yoda studying the dark side from a historian perspective is something that was honestly a hugely tactful move, but I also think ultimately it was a mistake as if Yoda had allowed these texts to be seen and read over by more members of the Jedi it's possible ones like lost twenty, Dooku, and even Anakin could of been saved with access to that kinda knowledge and understanding of how the dark side/Sith even if it was the Sith of old operated.
To study doesn't mean the same as participating
"If you are to truly understand, then you will need the contrast, not adherence to a single idea."
-Darth Traya
I have a question. Would a fallen Yoda be more powerful then the Emperor?
I believe yoda could've done anything he wanted, but chose not to!
I do not mistake when i write one almost said a perfect master is those one of the both sides of the force. The conclusion is around the corner: THE FORCE IS NOT EVIL OR DARK BUT THEIR MASTERS ARE.
Yes l think he could stop him but didn't because it would require him to the dark side nd and being Yoda the grandmaster incorruptible he wasn't willing to to dip his foot in the other side for fear of going to far getting lost and do something he would regret
it's better to have it and NOT use it, than to need it snd not have it 💚☘️🐉
I feel that if he had had frequent study sessions with the Master of the Order and permanent members of the Council, they would have all had a better understanding of the dark side and at the same time would have been able to keep each other grounded in the light.
I know this is nit picking on my favorite SW content creators 😅 in the thumbnail for the video above. Wouldn't Yoda say "Trained, I have."
Well a true master of the force has to know both. If Disney would make Dawn of the Jedi canon then you'd know.
With all this knowledge that Yoda possessed, he really could have done a better job with Anakin in Revenge of the Sith!
If Yoda used his dark side do think win over Sidious
Clearly jedis should have studied psychology 😂
Clue: "My negotiations will not fail."
I shall study the texts and drawings of my children to better-understand the dark side.
I have one question were the Jedi priests? Space priests whatever. The story touches on faith but how much faith was actually in the galaxy?
Honestly I just can't ever see Sidious being that much more powerful than many of the prominent Ancient Sith.
Short of the comic where he makes a bunch of clones and gains perfect control over Force Storms, nothing he does in any official material seems comparable to things like what Nihilous or Regan accomplished.
Light and dark combo....
Stupid it would be, not to study the ways and cultures of such an extraordinary enemy.
I'm going to enjoy watching this Video.
Ohhh no dark side yoda
He never met a sith like palps b4,duh.
tHx fir this amazing insight. Wgo would have thought since no sith revealt himself 4 longer than b4 yoda was even born? Great job captain obvious.
My hands were tied. Separated immigrant families.
Day 420 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
Yoda was too old tenor to have some knowledge of the Darkside of the Force. What Yoda lacked was experience.
Seems that should be a requirement for a Master.
NNNNNNOOOOOOO
WhaT?.....who admitted what?
Who is writing this stuff?
Read to be saved, to learn to be good and to become more and more successful!
Is this Disney pulling a JK Rowling all of a sudden or somethin
Nope this is legends. Something Disney can't pull off
@@adrianb714 God that's even worse. Next they'll have fucking R2D2 retconned to be force sensitive
