❤ I love this!! my husband and I are going to do the same with my 6 maybe more later on or use the back bedroom and put shelving units for them to crawl all over the walls tunnels and make the back bedroom a ferret dream and I can't wait
This is a fantastic video what a beautiful home for your babies! For the people asking in the comments how you connect critter nation cages together. I connected 9 of them into one giant cage by taking out the inner walls and using metal zip ties to hold them together! Hope that helps❤️
Just wanted to give them as much space as possible for the time they do have to be in there even if it’s not a horrible amount of time they still can have fun!!
Wow awesome setup! I'm going to be building my ferrets their own mansion in my garden in the new year I'm thinking of an 8ft x 10 ft shed but might go a little bigger If I can :)
Thank you! That is so amazing!! You’re ferrets are going to be so happy! When I buy a bigger house I want to give them their own room! My house is just too small right now so I do what I can!!
Love maybe you could put some bathroom mats or some type of mat. At least for the 2nd and 3rd floor. And it’ll me easy to clean. It would kinda suck if we hand long nails walking / running /playing on the plastic. But still love it!
Also on my second floor i have tonsss of blankets and they sleep in them more that any cube or hammocks etc. Soft and cozy more room to cuddle. Thrift shops are the best to get them get them deals lol. If it gets to messy just take the blankets outside and shake them.
I try staying on top of keeping my ferrets nails short and I’m check because they also like digging in soft hammocks and then getting stuck. Bath mats is a good idea. The fleece was getting to gross when someone was being lazy and decided to poop on the floor instead of in a litter box lol
You have higher ceilings than i do! I have 2 stacked, and if I was to get 3rd stacked, I'd probably have an inch to spare lol. I dont want to get mine a 3rd layer till at least they learn to use the litter box better. But also I like it only two because I store all my pet stuff on top of the cage and keep spare blankets, since the ferrets would just get into it all too much if I put it under the cage. All the leashes and harnesses and flea meds and and treats and pet shampoo's. I'd much rather it on top of the cage lol
That is something I miss about not having a upper storage space! I’m thinking about rearranging to have it 3 wide and only 2 tall so I have more space or even 3,2,1 would be good! I’m constantly changing my set up, ultimate goal is when I buy a bigger house to just give them the entire room:)
How much do you think all these cages combined is and what about plus most of the accessories if you don't mind me asking! It is an amazing cage setup you can tell they are happy babies.
No I don’t mind! Cost is definitely a part of owning pets! So I got the double critter nation for 249 then the two single critter nations for 149 each and the add on units for 105 each. So for the cage alone it’s about 750 which is the easiest part to figure out. As far the accessories I don’t even know, I’d say each hammock probably runs about 5-20 dollars each. The crocks for food and water are around 7-12 each. Litter boxes are about 5-15 each. It’s hard to keep track exactly and of course this was over a long time and not all at once but that’s the best guess I have! Hope that helped! :)
@alastormarie9553 I am sorry I never answered I forgot about this comment honestly, this is very helpful even now and honestly sounds very worth it considering they are very happy and cheaper than I would have thought to be honest I am stuck between critter and ferret nation atm because I heard there is a risk with critter nation climbing injuries due to the horizontal bars. I was just browsing then but I am 100% trying to find breeders now (2 years later yeah lol)
Thanks for this cage tour, I'm getting my single ferret a ferret nation cage (double) any suggestions to keep my ferret occupied bcuz she doesn't have a companion?
I suggest spending as much time with her as possible! Ferrets are super social and will benefit a lot from interaction. If you can’t get her a friend see about having her free roam the house :)
Ahhhh I need a ferret so badly I saw some yesterday and had a dream that ferrets kept multiplying and there were thousands of cute fluffy ferrets I need themmmmmm AHHHHH
Don’t know if you mentioned this in the video but is there a reason you don’t completely free roam? Just curious, clearly you love and care for them, great job!
The reason is mainly because I’m having a hard time getting my cats to accept them! I’ve been working on introductions but it’s just not to the point I feel comfortable leaving them unsupervised so unfortunately until then they just have to be separate 🥺
So, just a recommendation, you should feed your ferret the Blue Wilderness Cat Food, Wysong animal food, or even better than any raw foods, you can feed them raw meat. I feed my ferret the Blue Wilderness Cat Food, and he was pretty healthy. He sadly passed away a week ago, but he was very healthy. Just a recommendation, though.
I do feed wysong. When I first got them I mixed wysong with the kaytee because that’s what they were on before. I’ve tried tons of different raw foods and the best they have accepted is egg.
The sheer amount of food bowls seems insane. One or two bowls would be enough. Leaving food out for extended periods of time isn't really good for them. Even kibble gets moldy after a while. Also the height would seem to make cleaning the top layer pretty difficult.
It’s actually not bad. I have a step stool I keep in the room all the time. Also a lot of people keep food in the enclosure all the time especially when struggling to keep weight on because they’re rescues! I can refer you to articles if you’d like :)
Are those cages from ferret nation ? Can u remove the sides of the cage ? Or how u connected them together like that? I'm looking to upgrade for my ferrets and something like this would be awesome!
Yes! They’re just like ferret nations but critter nations! The sides can be removed and I zip tied them together :) luckily ferrets don’t chew the ties so it works great!
Do you only let your ferrets out for 3 hours? The cage is nice and spacious but even still to be locked in for 21 hours of the day is too much time locked in.
@@nicole0002 that’s exactly why they need so much more, because they sleep intermittently they need a longer period of time to play and nap in rotation. Comparing something mediocre to something neglectful dosnt make the mediocre action any better, it’s a fallacy.
Actually zip ties. A lot of them! Doesn’t work for rats because they chew but the ferrets don’t mind! I just make sure the tie part with sharp edge is on the outside where they can’t reach :)
I actually went a little overboard and used Rivet nuts to attach them together. Had to take the wheels off to make things work smoothly. Used some red thread sealer and a piece of all thread to eliminate the screw heads from preventing the cages from sitting flush. More permanent than most would probably care for but it works well for my situation.
I LOVE IT! Awesome Ferret Mansion! I wouldn't say you're doing anything dangerous, but I do have a suggestion since you mentioned being cool to receiving some! Food, Feeding... Unfortunately, *ALL* the ferret brand kibbles they make in the US, and even recommend at Petco, are total garbage! And I don't say that to be judgmental at all! Because when I first started out with my ferrets, I bought the Marshall's brand kibble and even got them Marshall's "Ferret Vitamins" as well! Only to then discover that it's all actually very unhealthy for them, which shocked me! How in the world they are allowed to make FERRET marketed food & vitamins, that's not even healthy for ferrets to consume, blew my mind! But anyways, to the point/suggestion! If you prefer to stick with Kibble food, try switching to a *High Protein* Cat Kibble! Cats, just like ferrets, are Obligate Carnivores. So they'll have almost identical nutrition requirements! Ferrets are at super high risk (80%) of developing "Insulinoma" at some point in their life. While some of it can sometimes be due to their genetics, most cases it's heavily due to their diet! They were never biologically intended to digest veggies, fruits, grains, soy, seeds, & certain oils... Which means almost ALL kibble that contains these things can (over time) mess up their organs & hormones! Specifically the pancreas which will struggle with insulin eventually, and cause the ferret to have insulinoma! I personally use the *Instinct Raw High Protein Cat Kibble* ... it is not a perfect kibble for ferrets, because there are still 3 ingredients that are crap (tomato pumice, flaxseed, & rosemary extract) ... BUT!!! It's the closest you can get to a perfect kibble, when comparing the ingredients to other brands! Instinct Raw is made: *Grain Free, Soy Free, Corn Free, Potato Free, Meal Free, No Artificial Coloring or Preservatives* ...And instead of chicken meal being the first ingredient, cuz it's meal free, it uses real Chicken Meat & Chicken Heart as the first ingredients, and contains chicken liver & other organs that ferrets NEED as carnivores! That most kibbles don't include! Plus all the vitamins & such! It's the best kibble I've found so far, for their health!
Thank you! I’ve actually slowly switched them to a higher quality kibble and have tried pretty much EVERY raw brand there is including blending my own. They are SOOOO hard to transition it’s ridiculous. The kaytee was the one that they came eating so I had to get them off of that before I could even get them to a healthier one. I’m definitely trying to switch because ultimately I’d prefer they eat raw but I am not having luck with any of them which is bizarre. The best I’ve gotten them on is egg and one lick of an organ soup I made otherwise it’s just turn their nose to it and not eat at all which I can’t have either. Needless to say they’re stubborn!
Why are these ferrets living better then me 😭
I try to give my pets the best life I possibly can ❤️

@@alastormarie9553can we contact each other because I'm getting ready to do the same or do something in my back room for them and would love ideas
This is what Somebody who really really really really really really cares and loves their ferrets. This is litearly my dream.
My actually dream is giving them they’re own room with safe shelves and hammocks but it’s not in the cards yet 😭

Amazing setup!!!
i have always wanted a ferret this setup is so cool
Thank you! I’m so happy I rescued my ferrets, they’re the pet I never knew I wanted but can’t live without now!
How did you make the cage a double wide or how did you connect them side by side with out the inner side walls?
I've had 8 ferrets over 28 years, never owned a cage, would never think of owning one.
That’s awesome!
How do you add the cages side by side? I haven’t been able to find a video showing or explaining it
I rlly wanna know how u put them beside each other and attached it?!

How do you not have a gap between your floor pans? I want to put 2 together and I saw a lot of people have a gap where they took the walls out
I push them together and then strategically put the litter boxes where the gaps would be
Hello! How did you connect the two cages apologies if it's a silly question but I think it's smart how you have two side by side thanks 😊
Not a silly question at all! I actually used zip ties! It was a little wonky but it was functional!
Whooaaaa this is amazing

WHERE DID YOU GET THA HUGE CAGE PLEASE TELL ME
It’s a bunch of pieces of critter nations put together :) a double, two singles and two add ons to be exact.
The sheer amount of food bowls seems insane. One or two bowls would be enough. Leaving food out for extended periods of time isn't really good for them. Even kibble gets moldy after a while. Also the height would seem to make cleaning the top layer pretty difficult.

Double ferret nation
Do they actually use all the hammocks. Because mine don't seem to like them too much.
Actually mine use all but about two or three different ones. It’s like they migrate around to different ones!
my names evey :) awe

Hi I am very interested in how you felt that
In how I felt what? Or did you mean build it? If so it’s just 2 double critter nations with two additional add on units! :)
Argh I wish I could get the sloth hammock!! We can’t get them here in Australia 😭
Man that sucks! It’s definitely is cute and a fan favorite with the ferries!
I have 6 cages & 5 ferrets too😂😂
They deserve a mansion :D
Do you only let your ferrets out for 3 hours? The cage is nice and spacious but even still to be locked in for 21 hours of the day is too much time locked in.
3 hours is fine. If you have a ferret you know they sleep 20 hours a day. This is significantly better than what a lot of ferrets get.
I usually let my ferrets out 1-2 hours in the morning and then when I get home til when I go to bed. :)
@@nicole0002 that’s exactly why they need so much more, because they sleep intermittently they need a longer period of time to play and nap in rotation. Comparing something mediocre to something neglectful dosnt make the mediocre action any better, it’s a fallacy.
@@fiveratsinatrenchcoat4408 Well she says it in the video. There are TIMES when she works 10 hour days. Comprehension and listening skills ARE useful.
How do you connect the cages side by side? Are they somehow bolted together?
Actually zip ties. A lot of them! Doesn’t work for rats because they chew but the ferrets don’t mind! I just make sure the tie part with sharp edge is on the outside where they can’t reach :)
@@alastormarie9553 thanks I appreciate it
