South Indians should have some sympathy for north indians for the uncountable and unimaginable tragedies which happened instead of just blaming, downplaying, the north indians for backwardness and poverty, its bcz of north indians that the invaders weren't completely able to focus on south india and thats why the dharma and culture was safe in South India.

Not exactly... In south India the method of praying, practices n culture was mostly similar..so thr was not much differences in kingdoms and customs..so obviously they stayed together and respected each other... So unity prevailed which indirectly resulted in stronger kingdoms..so invasion was difficult..More over by the time Mughals invaded india already many other Muslim invaders like Ghasni n Lodi were ruling North India which made Mughals easy for conversions n conquering North.. in south Muslims came much later thru Hyderabad.. lastly most of the Muslim invaders concentrated on Delhi..coz they felt ruling Delhi is like ruling entire India..haha fools.. Delhi n surrounding States are merely a region not entire country..they over rated their intelligence tats it.. if u read history u can understand how Hindu kings dint support each other at difficult times n were defeated.. now don't tell me its coz of North India tat South is safe.. South knew how to protect themselves.. having two sides surrounded by ocean also made difficult for invasion..yes geographical also played a role

@@sumitrabai6126so what happened when British invaded.
I thought South knew how to defend themselves.
U can't imagine what we had been through from 800 years of non stop invasion.
Come to Maharashtra, Ayodhya ,mathura, dwarka kashmir thousands of temples destroyed, most them converted to masjids by cutting their Shikhar and built mosque on them.
Most north indian, west indian ,east indian hindus don't even know how many gods are there, how many and names of avtars of vishnu, avtars of mahadeva. Most of them think krishna is only God and don't even know that Krishna is avtar of shree Vishnu.
There are many ancient Vishnu and Shiva temples in Maharashtra, mp . But poeple think that these are statues of the budha. They don't even know the difference between budha status and shree Vishnu statue.
Just think about what kind of attrocities we had been through.
Khilji, nijam, adils ,qutubs, mughals, Portugese, british and hundreds of them.
But your pro Christian missionary government won't tell u that .
And norths pro muslim congress won't tell north indian hindus about South indians. So they can create division between us.
I heard many times that north indians don't know about south indians , they ignore us blah blah. But I am from Maharashtra ( from West India) , I can tell u that ncert don't even mention about cheras, cholas ,pandyas, pallavas, ahoms ,dogras and many of them.
Maharashtrian, gujratis people don't know about south kings, east kings, north kings.
North Indians don't know about south, west , east indian kings. Bcoz our history teach us about only mughals and Britishers and gandhi.

Ayushi yadav in haryana got butchered and then put in suitcase by father for marrying another hindu gujjar in 2022, that was because of mughal british.
Last august, 2023 , a 22 year old jatt girl got honor killed by her brother for marrying out of caste, that was because of mughal british.
Balesh dhankar ex- overseas head of bjp haryana, he raped and filmed 5 korean women out of his korean fetish. That also because of mughal british.
From nirbhayain delhi to tiljala in kolkata, in most of the cases rapist is bihari or up, and prevalence of castism , females foeticide, honor killings in the name of "kattar hindu" Is also because of mughal british.

@onkarshete9559 @onkarshete9559 for your kind information... the reason why Rajput and other North Indian Kings didn't support each other allowed Ghazni, Lodi, kilji mughals.. and British came to Surat and then they went to Delhi to ask Jahangir for permission of trade.... its cuz of North Indian Kings.. why mughals came and later Britishers.... and coming to the point of South... in South you cannot see more religious conflict when compared to North that's cuz South Muslims are the son of the soils who converted to Islam with their own will.. Infant 2nd mosque was built in India kerala, by last Chera King who himself converted to Islam and left for mecca... and about Christianity.. Christianity came to South India about 2000 years ago as we had trades with west... and people here who have got converted also know this.
It's cuz of North we South had also to suffer.. we have drove away the nizams and other invaders who ran away and never dared to enter our land back.... but this was not the case of North..
We have always thought about north and it's culture and its Kings Maharana to Sivaji maharaja... but its not visversa...
Everyone thinks first woman freedom fighter was jansi ki rani LAKSHMI bhai.. but no one knows about Velu nachiyar and her commander Quli( world's first suicide bomber).
These differences can only be thrown away when we learn about each other and embrace each culture rather than still blaming religions, caste, linguistics differences...

@PratikPachal Head covering was due to Mughal/Islamic invaders. Elders were the caretakers of a family. They will be concerned for their children/ young peoples safety, so they used to always keep checking on the young girls in the family to cover heads in front of other and outsiders. It was the elders' responsibility. The girls obey her elder figure. As time went on, the girls will cover their head in front of elder to tell him that, 'I am taking safety by covering my head and you need not worry'. It shows that the girl is respecting her elder, by easing his/her concerns for her. It now became a sign of respect. When in laws came to see girl for marriage, the girls used to cover heads to show the in-laws that we are a proper family where we girls know to take safety precautions by covering head and the elder in this family is a responsible individual whom we all respect. The safety practice became a tradition eventually. After Independence, the Islamic atrocities reduced, and in a poverty stricken India, the traditions is what kept a family unit safe.

During wedding or even in normal day , I have neither seen my grandmother or other women duing Duppata ..I think the main reason is that in uttrakhand there is no or minimal invasion here because horses and the Islamic ruler didn't prefer to go up there due to harsh terrain and climate.

I am also from Uttarakhand (garhwal region) and even here i have noticed there is no veiling pratha. There is of course a distinct head gear, part of the traditional dress both for men and women but again it is not compulsory to wear for either of them. One of the reasons i believe is that mughals could not occupy this area, because of the great leadership of our queen RANI KARNAWATI.
In the legends she is also called the nak-kati rani cause when a mughal army tried to attack her kingdom. She surrounded them from all four sides and gave them the option to either cut their noses or die.

They still go to temple even though they believe god is everywhere. So, what is the need of going to temple if they believe god is everywhere? My guess is that they feel better to worship at a place designated specifically for worshiping. So, they show their respect to god using their traditions/customs (including the head covering). Outside, it is impractical. It is similar to how people give food (hindu) or diyas/candles (hindu/muslim/christian) to Gods but everyone knows that god doesn't really eat your food or use your diyas. These are customs to show respect to god and doesn't have any practical use in my opinion. It will be much easier to understand your view if you tell me your faith.

O man, O woman: Keep your eyes down on the earth, not up on the sky. Walk on with both the feet together (as the two wheels and the two horses draw the chariot together), Let your lower feet be not bare and exposed (cover them). Let woman be the high priest of the home yajna.$(The last three mantras describe the home- state of the social order. The husband and the wife together run the home. The husband is, or may be, the greater burden bearer, still the wife is the chief home minister, and the husband ought to realise this in love, in courtesy, in chivalry, or at least in practical wisdom. Arrogance, pride, anger, passion, all this on either’s part must be subjected to reason and respectful cooperation with mutual recognition.)

Okay but in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, covering head is common among both males and females and a big part of the reason is the extreme direct heat from sun and sandstorms, especially in desert areas. In states of Haryana and Punjab, women have historically been actively involved in agriculture. Washing hair frequently would be a tedious task since women kept especially long hair in this region and protecting it while farming and taking care of cattle decreased the maintenance and protected them from heat as well during peak afternoon.
States of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand etc. have had primarily colder temperatures throughout the year, so wearing scarves and caps is obviously common to keep the head and ears warm.
Mind you there are tribes and fisher communities even in Southern India that cover their heads. There are communities across the world where even men cover their head.
Even a lot of modern day Southern Indian Brides gleefully pair their Kanjeevarams with large & gorgeously embroided dupattas and no, nobody comes running after them for their lives stating that it's only meant for funerals or they may simply chose not to follow this custom.
The point is no woman or man should be hated on, shunned or discouraged if they willingly wish to or like to cover their heads. It isn't anything outrageous. It is absolutely wrong to assume that every women who likes to cover her head is being oppressed or forced and it is equally wrong to shame people down South covering their heads outside funerals.
Just like there is no mention of any compulsory custom of covering heads for women in any significant ancient hindu texts, there is no such mention of covering heads only during funerals in any of those texts as believed in Southern India. So why draw this parallel of customs to create a connotation that covering heads is essentially a bad thing or primitive practice and that one belief is superior than other?
As long as no one is forced or does it out of fear of being criticized, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Unfortunately, women today are shamed if they cover their heads willingly even for being outdated and promoting oppression of other women along with being called a 'behanji types' or 'Auntie' with a negative connotation, etc. On one hand, people talk of women empowerment and seeking freedom for them to dress & express themselves the way they want. Western clothing is considered a breath of fresh air and promoted by these groups but ironically would even criticize someone willingly wear traditional clothes. This is hypocrisy at its' finest.
Same can be observed in other parts of the country and even the world.
It's a reminder that clothing primarily evolves due to climatic or weather conditions, lifestyles and occupational practices of a particular region or community and has historically been not just a expression of cultural values, motifs or fashion but also has been designed around practical purposes and for convenience.
However none of this takes away the fact that yes the multitude of invasions of India, especially North lead to significant oppression of women by forcing them to cover themselves, stressing on the ' 'purdah' system as well as keeping women enclosed within four walls, all of which is strictly against the principles of Sanatan Dharma values since women were forced against their will. Had Sanatan Dharma for the longest time not insisted on peace and tolerance, these invasions could have been at the minimum and caused little to no losses. Sanatan Dharma does not demand us to engage in expansion, promotion and forced conversions but it does believe in defence to protect one's beliefs but this forms a very small part of the rich values it teaches us, which primarily rely on peace, brotherhood, tolerance and self control. Hence we are here.
But like I said these invasions are not the only reason but a substantial reason among various factors that have historically led to determination what we still choose to wear.

@@user-wb8ql4ky7j Dude you to look up the definition of veil and also improve your reading and comprehension skills. First of all it's 'Veil'. And a Veil is nothing but a piece of clothing used to protect or cover a part of face or head. Even the head covering used in Christianity for brides is called a veil. You see that even brides in the West still wear veil, many preferring to even cover their faces.
Secondly, I clearly mentioned that the environmental circumstances and cultural references are just a part of the reason and not just the only reasons.
Thirdly, not everyone using a head covering or veil feels oppressed.
Several women just like to don one out of sheer preference.
Also, Hindu women are not required to cover their face or heads all the time, even according to the customs and it has been long since women, in Northern India, at most cover only their heads at most if they do at all and that too only around older family members or temple.

But even in villages of extremely hindu majority states, when women sit infront of any god, they put their dupatta or pallu on their head. They don't cover head in any other place. I'm talking about places which had 0 muslim influence. Muslim culture is to cover face infront of other people which is completely different from covering head infront of god. I cant say about the rajasthani culture where they cover the face. The normal hindu culture is to cover the head (not face). Obviously culture varies from place to place and in southern parts, they cover the head only for funerals the video says.
