- On Sunday night, a Chennai-bound train was stopped an hour into its journey, in Srivaikuntam. India's railway staff halted the train in light of a cloud burst, they also averted a major disaster. A 7-km-track in front was completely eroded by the rain. It was a disaster waiting to happen. Priyanka Sharma tells you more.

The railway engineers must be publicly recognized for their judgement and saving over 800 lives. This is a monumental achievement of the engineers.

You forgot to mention the local villagers who were to first to offer food and help in neck deep waters. They gathered all their supplies took it too the nearby Temple cooked and served food to the stranded passengers, milk to children amount them. These are people who themselves had not eaten and were suffering the flood. Although I don’t say the railway stepped in, the villagers did even before that. And the stranded passengers feel the divine helped them in the disguise of villagers

It was ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS-not some so-called divine entity supposedly in the form of human beings-who helped the stranded passengers.

Atheist came into the picture because religion created more problems than it solved. Had such a culture existed in the past, like the one in this case, there is no role for atheist.

Appreciate their decision. But the sad thing is they struck at the station for 3days without food and water. There were babies and elder people in the train. The village called Pudhukudi Melur next to station was consists of only 40 family provided food,water, milk for childrens for 2 days. And they saved 1000 people in that train. They are the real heros. The irony is govt. throw food from helicopter 3rd day, that too wasted because due to the distance from the ground..
Some hardships are better than being seriously injured or dying.🙏🏽

Trains has to get signal from the next station before proceeding.The true heros were people of sivaikudam people who provided food and water to the entire 800 people for 72 hrs.

While appreciating this, nobody told that the passengers were left stranded without food or water until next day afternoon when the nearby villagers came to rescue and cooked food and provided them. No help from centre or state government

These are the unsung heroes and indeed they are blessed by being the blessings in the lives of others.
More than 24hrs the train has stopped near srivaidundam due to heavy rain nearly 600 people struggled in without water and food then the local people like srivaidundam ,vellur and puthukudi they feed the food, hot water and back tea to the railway passengers they help without any expectation really hatts off to them.
That’s really heartwarming to know about it. I mean, in India, human lives really are treated like shit and when some people try to save lives, it’s really really touching.
